So I got some bad news today and will not be able to make it to the game. Hoping to get by a radio in NE Iowa around 1 to catch it, but may have to rely on getting text updates from SK.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Klopenhiemer

Looking forward to the BV vs. Simpson game this weekend.  I think both programs have a lot to prove and I look for a great game.  BV has to slow down the Storms running game and the new BV QB will have to direct the offense on some long scoring drives to eat up the clock.  I think this will set the tone for both teams this season.  I see the top of the conference still wide open, and either team has a shot to finish in the top half.  I will have to rely on live stats and TXT messages as well for my updates.

Sorry to hear that you had bad news.  Hope it was not to bad.  Was kind of hoping to meet face to face.  Will have to wait for another time.

Damn, I thought there was an actually video stream that I could watch the game but I've been able to use the webcast before. This way I can catch the Iowa game and listen to Central at the same time. Ahh technology.

Doesn't "A live video Webcast" mean we will get to see the game and not just hear it?

Watching the BTN tonight, good ol' Walner Belleus just had a nice opening kickoff return on the replay of Iowa's Capital One victory over LSU...

I'll be glad to keep you up-to-date on the goings-on.  For a price, naturally.   ;)

ESPN's "E:60" story on Aplington-Parkersburg that aired Tuesday evening...

Thanks for posting this, PB.  I had to take a phone call when the story came on earlier tonight, so I'm glad I'll have a chance to see it.

Personally knowing Mr. Bush I can assure all that he is not outspoken, arrogant, cocky, etc.  He is a very talented kid and humble as well.  If anything I think he is just saying that he has hit goals set out for him thus far and is looking towards the next step into becoming a better ball player.  Until he starts calling for Cornell to win conference titles or changes his name to "Busho Cinco" I wouldn't look too far into it.

He is a good kid. I have to believe that what was stated in the article was not in context. I wonder if the reporter was a Coe Alum?

He's not.
I don't think that Coe will need any more incentive any way. I'm hoping it will be a close game like last year, but would not be surprised if the Rams are taken to the wood shed.

Considering how few returning starters Central has, the game Saturday reminds me of the way I feel when I walk into a strange saloon.  I always hope for the best, but anything can happen.  With a game under their belts, and the home field under their feet, and the homecoming fans at their backs, and the fire in their bellies, and the Warts with their fingers in their noses, I like Central's chances.  Based on nothing but red and white tinted optimism and the number of potentially All District seniors Central will put on the field, I predict The Dutch will play mistake free football.  The Warburg offense will be limited to two long, clock burning touchdown drives.  Central will stop them often enough, force enough turn-overs, bust enough big plays, and kick enough field goals to win 20-14.  Central's football will be flawless but I also predict I will miss it due to technical trouble with the video stream and/or my computer.

For some reason that line makes me think of you and Clint Eastwood tieing up your horses outside, then walking in in your red and white only to find a saloon filled with  orange and black clad bad guys  ;D

On Saturday Dubuque has an opportunity to do something they have only done twice before...beat Luther for a 3rd straight year!!!  The Spartans won 3 straight from '47-'49 and again from '79-'81  There have only been 3 times Dubuque even won 2 straight against Luther '21-'22 and '87-'88 along with the last 2 seasons.  Overall Dubuque stands 18-48-6 against Luther...so they need to go on a looooonnnnnggg winning streak to get this series back to a respectable W-L record ;)

I think this is the year they do it.  The Norse fans don't seem overly impressed with what they have seen this year.  Then again, maybe it is the year.  WB fans have never been this silent during Central-Wartburg week.  Kind of takes all the fun out of it.
