All I have to say is Cornell sucks... stop talking about them.

I believe the saviors of the IIAC are Loras and Simpson... only teams that didn't lose last week!

So we should be talking about Loras...who might possibly be one of the worst 3 teams in the league with Cornell and Luther(kills me to say that)...I don't see the problem with talking about Cornell...

Will the "saviors" be having a better-than-.500 season this year? It has taken Loras almost 4 seasons to rack up as many wins as Central had LAST SEASON.

At least the Cornell fans are faithful....I've gotta respect them for that.

SK:  It looks like you are going to have to bring the Knights through alone.  I will be staying in M-town to play my roll of grandpa while Peacock/Warthog and his lovely wife, Panther/Warthog, work as volunteers at Pine Creek Mill Heritage Days.

I went over to Pella two years ago expecting to see a victory  Maybe if I stay away this time the Knights will have better luck.

As to the recent post of duhawkdanran: In my lifetime I've seen some periods when my Knights had a few consecutive years of less than great football teams.  Good years or not I always expected better things next year and I would promote Wartburg for all I was worth.

Things go in cycles, I remember when beating Luther was nearly impossible.  Cornell has had some success in the past.  They weren't doormats in the MWC and they won't always be doormats in the IIAC.

When the Duhawks get their first conference football title come back and be critical of someone saying good things about their favorite team.

I believe your statement to be false.  The correct statement is that Loras and Simpson are the only two IIAC teams that won last week.

Yeah, I was wondering how BV and Central both lost last week.  I also didn't know the IIAC needed saving.  I guess having a team make it to the final 8 last year isn't good enough as a representative of the conference. ::)

I am glad you got the point.  Central, BV, and Luther were all idle last week so there were three teams that did not lose last week.

I would also add that Central didn't just walk through the season either...there was many close games against a them, I would say that shows the strength of the conference even more

Absolutely -- there are few (if any) "gimmie" weeks in the IIAC. I think most of the Dutch fans were in constant fear of cardiac arrest. The games were never "easy" as they should have been on paper, which speaks well for the rest of the conference.

I suppose the bright side of this is there are at least some duhawks starting to represent after not hearing from any of them over the last few years.  du-sz is a pretty decent poster.  Other guy...we will have to see.  That might just be his weird sense of humor nobody is familiar with yet.  Though I kind of doubt it.

I agree with you 100% about Coe's offensive woe's.  Feller has got to get it together -- on pace to shatter the Coe record for int's in a season, but not for TD's in a season....  I was just pointing out that he (bush)/the media/cornell fans shouldn't be super excited abotu his game (besides not throwing a pick).

I know you are a Coe fan and I am not using stick figures to explain this but....   :D

Dallas Bush is a good kid and a hard worker...before he's through, he will be an impact player in the IIAC (my opinion).  Whether that translates to postseason honors...who really cares.  What the kid said and how it got written and how we interpret it is subjective....and it really doesn't matter.

That said...he went from 5-20 against Grinnell to 20-33 against a far superior Carleton team.  I applaud him for his progress (and it excites me a bit because Jr. was on the receiving end of 10 of those completions) and look I forward to further improvement.  Should he sustain a positive rate of improvement, it's hard to see how he wouldn't be viewed favorably by objective observers.

And finally...keep throwing to that big TE.    ;D

So true.  Last year was not an easy year, lots of schools were left saying we could of/should of and might have had a different outcome.  It made us well prepared for the playoffs where we won the first two games easier than most of the conference ones.  It helped that we were healthy by then, but it still speaks very well for the IIAC.

IIAC Standings

Central 0-0 1-0
Simpson 0-0 2-0
Dubuque 0-0 1-1
Loras 0-0 1-1
Wartburg 0-0 1-1
Buena Vista  0-0 0-1
Coe 0-0 0-2
Cornell 0-0 0-2
Luther 0-0 0-1

We haven't even hit the first week of conference play and we only have two teams with perfect records.  Could the powers that be know that the conference championship should be decided on November 15 when Simpson comes to Pella?

I wish.  Both of us will have their hands full this weekend.  But for the good of the cause, I suppose every other team could just roll over for us so that we can have a shot at two teams in the playoffs!!! :D :D :D

du-sz

I'm sorry bout my Duhawk friend t here. I know him well from the basketball board, and he does have a humor like that, but his statement was pretty harsh and worded incorrectly.  I did like the quick flash of attention toward Loras and Simpson, though. Its not too often that we grab more attention than Cornell, Central, and Wartburg haha  :P

Congrats to Ben McMahon on being IIAC Player of the Week by the way. I'm excited to see if his stellar play continues as we enter conference play. I think the Coe game will be a good measuring stick to see if we are legit this year in the IIAC.
Not going to lie...Dewey is a pretty good looking bird/furry beaked body builder.
