The Warty's are a little quiet.  I figured there might be a bit more banter on the board regarding the games.

As you can see I am replying to a post made a few days ago...back about 10 pages.  I got way behind and I am slowly catching up (must be the o-lineman speed in me).  Miss reading on this board for a weekend and you can fall back a lot.  I try to just skim over game days as scores and stats are updated, but I don't want to miss anything else.  Hopefully I can catch back up before Sat. just in time to fall behind as I am busy again this weekend.

Go Knights!  This is a big weekend with a lot to prove.  Central should feel pretty confident as there might be some doubt at Wartburg.  Luckily, Willis will do everything in his power to avoid that.

Here's a nice article in the SC student newspaper about the PA announcer. He was notorious for leaving the microphone on during plays. As a player, I never noticed it. But coming back for games after graduating, it was comic relief (and sometimes embarrassing). My wife (also a SC grad) and I had a big debate at the home opener about him. I said it was overdue, my wife said it just isn't the same.

A couple of big test for our large state schools as well.

Iowa needs play well and get a win over Pitt on the road and ISU needs to do the same against UNLV.  I am a die hard Iowa backer, but from here on out, I hope ISU plays to the best of its abilities and does not lay an egg the rest of the season.

To that point, I hope the Hawkeyes play well and its not another season of doubts and discouragements.

On an IIAC note I will say that Cornell and BV have a lot to prove this weekend.  Both hoped to be in the top half of the conference this season and both need wins badly.  BV needs to wash the taste of an opening week loss out of their months, and Cornell needs to crack the win column in the IIAC for the first time in two season.  If both teams win and a good Central vs. Warty game, I see lots of chatter happening on here in the next week.

More sad news from the University of Dubuque.

Lisa Martin, a sophmore pre-nursing major was killed in an auto/motorcycle crash in Dubuque.  She was the captain of the UD dance team.  http://www.dbq.edu/

Prayers to Lisa and her family, Grant Vogt, who died last week, and Cory Alsip still recovering at Madison.  Also to the Luther goalie who broke her leg last week and is at the Mayo Clinic recovering her injuries.

Thankfully, sports can be used as a source of joy in our lives and also to help bring us together.

I'll be there and looking for some more hospitable weather than the last time. :)

Though I must say, the ratings on the Bethel/Central broadcast were off the charts. Combination of the late start and even later finish, meaning the other three quarterfinals were done before we were.
Welcome, Pat!  The weather is supposed to be 81 and sunny on Saturday.  I hope our luck is as improved as the weather over the last time we hosted you.

I don't see how it could be any worse!  :o

Open invite to anyone attending the BV-Simpson game: I will be tailgating at the northeast corner of the field (parking area north of visitor bleachers) this weekend.  Look for a white SUV or black pickup equipped with coolers and a grill.
When it's 3rd and 10, you can take the milk drinkers, and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time.

:D hahahaha I like it +k for you. I sure hope the game is a good one...and Cornell comes out with a victory. This rivalry needs to be sparked up again. It is such a good rivalry....it is just too bad that Cornell has not had the success that Coe has. I remember going to the Coe game every year I was in high school and the atmosphere was perfect. I do wish though that this game was played at the end of the year like it was so many times in the past.

Lets see if any of the fellow Cornell posters can finish this little saying....If you can't go to college go to Coe...Coe Sucks!

Remember this is all in fun...I actually think Coe is an alright school I just don't like them when Cornell is playing them. I have a lot of respect for the school and the athletics program and what they have been able to accomplish since joining the IIAC. I think Chandler is a stand up guy from the few occasions I have talked with him.

That is the most accurate thing I have ever read by a Cornell fan.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Don't know whether to take that as an insult or a compliment....I think just about everything heys and I post is accurate...with a few exceptions here or there of course  :)

If Wartburg loses to Central I'm curious to know when the last time Wartburg had back to back losses?

Also if they lose, what does that do to their confidence?

A request for motorists traveling from Cedar Rapids to Mount Vernon Saturday by way of the old Lincoln Highway, please be on the lookout for and willing to share the road with bicyclists. Thanks! I wouldn't want an accident to prevent anyone from enjoying a blue cheese burger ( :P wipes drool) and a breakout performance by the Kohawks over the Hams (though I hear they have some of the best players in the county). ;D
