Should be an excellent weekend of matchups for all teams!

This will be my last Cornell/Coe football game as a student and I hope (win or lose) that it is a memorable game!

I hope to see plenty of students/parents/fans at the game tomorrow!

Welcome to the board.  Last year Cornell had a good homecoming crowd.  And that was in the rain, against Dubuque.  This year should be nice weather and you play Coe.  Should equal a good turn-out.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Yeah, that game was....well, brutal.  Finally nice to see the athletes that Dubuque had finally put together a solid season.  I've heard that they graduated a lot of those guys though, true?

I caught some of the previous posts about Coach Dillon and Dallas Bush and that article in the Gazette.  I know both somewhat well and must say that Dallas is the most mild mannered guy on that field.  He's confident in his abilities but wouldn't ever try and create "bulletin board" material.  Heck of an athlete, just continues to grow in his abilities.

As for Coach Dillon, he is proud of his QB and as a former QB himself, that should be expected.  There are questions about the contiuation of the Wing-T as their offense but for the most part he should be able to steer them in the right direction.

Here's to another fun year of IIAC football!

They like Wart 14-13

You forgot to add they predict Dubuque to beat Luther 27-17  ;D

And from the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=216324

They predict at 20-17 UD win over Luther and a 16-13 Wartburg win over Central

Klompen

I like the low score predictions.  I think that would be in Central's favor, given that we only have 2 returning starters on defense.  If the score stays close, you can never count out the Dutch.  We play the full 60 minutes, plus overtimes, as necessary.

It should be good weather all over the state, big crowd in Pella, and hopefully everyone stays healthy.  There are a lot of good games going on this weekend, hopefully they will keep all of us posted over the PA at whichever game we are at.  The road to the conference championship for everyone starts tomorrow.  Good luck to everyone.  (Great luck to the Dutch!)

Interesting preview -- thanks for sharing!

I really think that a low-scoring game favors Central. Winning in clutch situations is sort of our forte. We have a lot of questions marks on offense, but I don't think that the Wartburg D is as stingy as they proclaim in Waverly. On the other hand, I think that the Dutch D find a way to neutralize Yordi. We force a ground game, which favors the Central D.

Game of the week goes to Central.

Storm-what?

BVofYore- Thanks for the invite on the tailgaiting- but I'll be skipping Storm Lake this weekend and listening in via the web. I am predicting... 21-17 Simpson wins! :)

Other pics this weekend: Coe, Dubuque and Wartburg.

Trying to figure out what will happen in the Central Wartburg game is like trying to guess what will happen when they start up that super collider thing in Switzerland.  It could lead to important discoveries that make the world a better place, which would be like a Central win.  Or ,Wartburg could win which would be like the world getting sucked into a black hole.

Airborne Dutch

I have a feeling that this game is going to be a defensive battle ala the 2002 game. However, I hope I am incorrect and that the Dutch blow out the Knights. Nothing personal.

Looks like I will watch my first video webcast tomorrow instead of being in Decorah for the Luther/UD game.  My brother-in-law and his family let us know this afternoon they are visiting tomorrow instead of the 27th when we had a birthday party planned for about 2 months.  So I have been told I will be over to my in-laws instead of having fun and taking our son to his first live football game.  >:(

Oh well, good luck to all the IIAC teams tomorrow and everybody have a safe day out.  Remember to have fun.

The only game that was not a defensive struggle in the last 4 years was 2005.  You can even make a case that that was as the Dutch special teams really helped out that day.  2004 a 14-10 Knight win, 2006 an 13-7 Dutch OT win, 2007 a 17-14 Dutch win.  So an average of 4.34 point difference I would not expect anything else.

I have not looked to see who has not posted the pickems yet but I know I am short two or three people from picking their picks.  Don't forget to pick them.
