The BV win really brought out the Beaver talk, if Loras manages to beat Coe (which essentially none of you think will happen), we'll have an 'ole hoops board reunion on our hands.

I've been here long before the Beavers got the win against Simpson.

I was just stiring the pot a bit people.  I was not meaning to offend anyone.  Like I said it seemed like we slipped into the IIAC Senior Citizens Board.  I was hoping for some fun ribbing.

MNBeev, Klopenhiemer,

Thanks I didn't take offense to the question at all.  I was just clarifying my question if you didn't understand it.  You did and I missed that.  I do think BV has a chance to move up.  Are Cental and Wartburg automatic winners no way.  I think that last two years showed that games with Central were very close and hard fought.  I think BV has the chance to take as high as third.  I think Central and Wartburg will win the games against BV provided that no serious injuries occur.  That is my opinion but can BV beat them sure it can happen.  The past has told us that the Knights can stumble a bit when they shouldn't.  Has that happened already this season with the Augsburg game? Time will tell.

Personally I do not see BV losing to Central this season.  BV shot themselves in the foot big time against UW-P.  Turnovers and missed opportunities were the story of that day.  They beat a perenial solid Simpson team last week and put up over 40 points.  I do not believe that Central is the team they have been over the past few season.  Though they are still good, I see them losing two more conference games, all by close margins.  You have a young QB and a running QB and do not seem to have a combination of both, or one that throws the ball all that well.  Lets spice it up a bit, the board has been boreing.  It's no fun agreeing with people all the time.

Perinnial solid Simpson team? In the 90's, maybe. Sorry Simpson fans, but beating a 4-6 or a 3-7 Simpson team is not what I would consider a "solid" win. Sure, BV will win some games this season, but don't expect the Dutch to lose sleep the week of November 8.

Central may not be the team we were last year (*ahem* Because we graduated so many players....) but we're not exactly Cubs fans ("there's always next year") yet.... losing one game hardly ruins a season.  ;)

Come on dutchie...Your Dutch boys will be having cold sweats the whole week they are playing BV.  Your QB better be wearing butt pad because he will be on his back/butt the whole game. ;)

i think that is manditory...

I have to give karma for that, I got a good laugh out of that.

I sent everyone a PM asking for their home mailing addresses so that I could send them the hot dogs.  Since no one replied I figured nobody wanted them ;)

Missed tackles and one guy beat BV against UWP.  That one WR had like 213 yards and all 3 TDs.  Should have never gotten that far.  Bv should have had another TD one the fumble out of the back of the endzone as well as he hit the ground across the line and the ball squirted out.  Ref was behind the play and couldn't see when the ball came out so he called it a fumble but was standing right there and it was a TD.  Pearey has played exceptionally well so far but a lot of the routes run are out routes because he cant really see over the middle.  I think people will start jumping routes on him later on in the year seeing film and it could mean trouble.  Bv has played pretty well so far this year besides a maybe 5 minute lapse.  Will be an interesting rest of the year.
You have ONE advantage over me.....you can kiss my a$$ and I can't!!

Ok, UD will beat BV like a rented mule...readheaded stepchild...you name it, this Saturday.  BV lost to UW-Platteville because of turnovers???  Then that's the reason we lost to a perenial solid Luther (if Simpson and their 9-15 conference record over the last 3 seasons is solid...then Luther and their 10-14 conference record is as well)  :P :P :P

Wish I could be in Dubuque this saturday for the game.  We will be home celebrating a belated birthday with our son.  Hey Klop, if BV wins...you won't owe me a chili cheesedog anymore ;)

I believe the Spartans will make it a good game, but than again, they tried last year to.

:) - Smiley face = BV wins right?

I like that question...seeing as how I am a Ram myself I find myself to not be offended at all.

We are struggling mightily and whether bad attitudes or bad coaching attributes to it is still to be seen.

But as we sit here and continue to be the butt of many jokes on this board (Not sure how the Beavers pass through mildly untouched...hearing "1, 2, 3...BEAVERS" makes me giggle every time") I am reminded of a cheer during high school...

"It's alright, It's okay...you'll just work for us someday..."

So while we sit here with our good grades and great job possibilities at Cornell, I would hope that people across the IIAC would keep in mind that most of the guys around here are continuing to fulfill a dream that most likely will not continue past College.  Since most of the guys from Wartburg, so I hear, will be playing in the NFL next year...I don't take offense to being made fun of for not being THAT good.

Enjoy your saturday afternoons and God bless

Since when has anyone claimed that anyone from anywhere will be playing in the NFL???
This is a football board so we talk about football. I know a couple Cornell grads, and I know I make more money than they do.

Of the group of guys I lived with in college that played football, 2 of us are self employed and doing very well.
2 are doctors, one is a manager with a large lumber company down in Florida, and another has a cushy federal job. I know I was offered every single job I applied for out of college.
I know a couple others that I played with that are now coaching at the college level and others that are engineers. I also know several guys from other years that are doing VERY well as doctors, lawyers, VPs of banks, and running their own businesses amongst other things.
It would be interesting to find out the average incomes of grads or schools since I don't know any other way to judge that.
And my dream of getting paid to be around football did continue after college-coaching.
Once again, we get reminded by the team that can't win that there's more to life than football, as if all of us here didn't know that.
This is a football board, so of course we talk about football primarily.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Just as the NFL is not a good barometer of Iowa Conference football talent, income is not a good measure of professional success.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Oh, thank goodness!

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

...maybe we should judge each school by their NFL talent.

Look out for the 3-0 Bills who next face the Hams from St. Louis, as opposed to Cornell.

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and say that even though the administration and some students think Cornell is that much above every school in the IIAC in academics they are not. I believe every school in this conference is a good school and you can get a good education at any of them.....as much as it hurts to say this..even at Coe :)

I agree I have never heard anyone say anything about thinking Wartburg players will be going to the NFL. Cornell might have higher admission standards than everyone else in the conference but that is the only difference I see and I have known people who got into college with a 18 or lower on their act or below a 3.0 gpa out of high school who went to an IIAC school and actually earned better grades than in high school.

In my opinion the administration at Cornell needs to wake up and realize they are not an Ivy league school. Their standards at Cornell are too high. The classes their are not any tougher than any other IIAC school. I had friends who transferred in and were thinking that it was going to be tough then realized that it wasn't bad at all.

Part of the problem at Cornell and sorry ccram33 no offense to you is that people are too complacent with losing. They say things like oh well at least we have good academics....and....oh wait. Why not be like well we are good at academics, athletics, music, theatre etc. I know of a couple schools in this conference that can say that. I don't think I even need to list them.
