Dubuque and Loras announce a two year deal to play the "Dubuque Bowl" as a night game.

http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=217028

The fact that they already know the date of next years game makes me wonder why they just don't post future schedules on the IIAC site like other conferences do.  Next years Dubuque/Loras game is Oct. 10th.

Knowing the drinking culture in Dubuque I'm not so sure having a night game between UD and Loras is such a great idea.  But if the schools are installing lights, they might as well use them.  I like that they are thinking about marketing these games and really turning it into something special though.

What happened to Battle-for-the-Bridge with UWP?

If you can't beat 'em, drop 'em  ;D

Actually, I have no idea why the series was dropped.  But that might not be a bad guess.

Norse supports...hear the bad news out of LC?...the running back situation got much worse this past weekend...

Betcha SimpsonSID is all ears

Starting RB Bass...might not be playing for a while from what I hear...

Some things are best kept to ourselves, LC.  Norse on the board knew it anyway.  Do you see other guys reporting injuries or disciplinary action on their teams?

Don't know to many teams that use this board as a key part of their scouting report...I'm sure simpson coaches have way more info on LC then any of us...

That may be a little naive to think.  I don't think that IIAC teams have spies in everyone's offices.  Injuries usually are not public knowledge.  I know team members talk but it is usually not made public.  I think this qualifies as a public forum.  I think Old Norse is correct in this that some things are best kept in family till some one from the outside makes them public.

you guys are probably right...I'll keep my mouth shut from now on...

I don't want you to think I was hard on you.  I just was in agreement with OldNorse.  So things are best kept quiet till they become public knowledge.  After the cat is out of the bag you can fill the details in.  Best left the opponents guessing till kickoff if you can get it that way.

Guys I do not mean to beat a dead horse on this but I might be.  The coaches will be breaking down the game film and they will see on tape who leaves the game and who enters the game.  I have broken down enough game film in my day, all the numbers that enter the game are recorded and then compared at the end of the game.  It's pretty easy to figure out why a kids leaves, wheather its injury or its lack of production.  But in the essance of what everyone is saying, yes it would not be the best idea to broadcast injuries.  As the secret weapon might be a great diversion :D  Sorry I was a psych major also so I am constantly analizing for head games and rouses!!!

There is probably good money in analizing, but it's just not for me.

   Sorry Klop, couldn't resist.

a little high school update.  Cedar Rapids Jefferson beat Dubuque Senior 39-8.  Tyler Evans the running back broke the school record with approx. 260 yards rushing.  They took him out most of the fourth quarter then heard he was only about 10 yards or so from the record and put him back in the get the record.  What is the consensus from the board about putting your starter back in after the win is already a given to have him get a record?

Klop...Good point on the breaking down of film and # counting of players. Although, I'm not sure about the head games and rouses.  I was doing gridiron ontology and to some degree so was LC and OldNorse.....although I don't speak for them.

The real question here is....
If a horse dies in a forest and there is no one around to beat it, can it ever be redundant?   ::)

sorry, Klop...I was a philosophy major. ;D

A) If Kohawk Recruit, Then BAD
B) If Not, Then it's OK

Vikings did it last year for AP when he was like 5 yards short of the Sweetness' record.  To get 10 yards in HS all you need to do is run like 3 sweeps and he would get it.

Watching Oregon St. beat USC last night and seeing OSU in their orange unis got me wondering.  How long has it been since Wartburg wore much orange in their uniforms?  At least for football.  When I was in school in the late 80's early 90's I think I remember them with orange at that time but my memory is more than a little fuzzy.

Also, telling my wife that the beavers/trojans matchup wasn't near as dirty as the old BV/UIU matchups was met with a blank stare from her.
