Haha...thanks bolt for letting them know who is still alone at the top. Although just like I'm sure BV is thinking, it doesn't matter who is number 1 at week 6 if your not number 1 at week 10...

LC needs to get a better non-conf opponent then Waldorf, that game is a joke...

Well BV has tried to move away from Waldorf for quite some time but there is not another team with an open date that late in the season.

Do not speak so soon, Waldorf did beat BV in Storm Lake a few years ago. Talk about a bummer.  But that was when they had Mike Lewis at QB and he clearly should have been playing at a better school.  He was legit.

Outstanding win by the Beavers today.  Even though I did not see the game, I was helped with updated by Norsedad and MNBeev.  Thanks guys.

As NorseDad best put it, the Beavers could be nicknamed the "Cardiac Kids".  Two weeks in a row taking it all the way down to the wire to win.  The running game wasnt the best but the passing game was solid.  Another game that Peary has not thrown an interception, I guess waiting the wings for 3 straight years makes one want to take full advantage of the game once they are inserted into the starting line up.

For the first time in a while, the Beavers actually control their own way.  They do have a tough road with Coe, Central, and Luther all to play.  Next week its the Norse in Storm Lake, and history says that is always a great game.  Lets hope the Beavers keep the winning ways going.  This is going to be fun to watch!

Congrats to all the victors on the weekend and again, I hope all major injuries were avoided.

Who played QB for the Dutch today?  Did they bench Bandow?

Shades of 2004 isn't it.  The Beavers had it then as well.  I am not saying that will happen but long ways to go yet.

Yes you are right.  This is shades of 2004.  Lets hope that things are different in Storm Lake this season.  I feel after talking with the coaching staff and some of the players that this is different team.

This years Central squad remindes of me 2003.  That was a 5-5 team with no real QB and a lot of missed opportunities.

BV had an outstanding recruiting class and they have a good thing going.  I do not see these guys being a one hit wonder.

You better hope that the Dutch have not "over recruited" and they come back the remainder of this season and next year!

If you look at what I said it is shades of 2004.  I have no crystal ball to tell the future.  I am just saying that the Beavers had their own destiny in their own hands then.  They still have a great team in Luther to play,  Coe has a say in this, and even Central has a say.  I am not saying that any one of these teams will beat the Beavers I am saying that there are many games remaining.  I didn't say that this was exactly 2004 but it certainly reminds me of it so far this year.  I don't know if the Dutch have over recruited.  With the injury bug biting the Dutch hard this year I am glad to have all of those recruits on the Dutch sidelines.  Starting and playing so many freshman and sophs have to pay future dividends for the Dutch.  I am not picking on the BV faithful at all.  I have no disrespect intended.  The Beavers control their own fate.  I was just merely pointing out the similarities in seasons.

I know you were not picking on the Beavers.  I was not picking on the Dutch.

The over recuitment refers to kids chosing other schools over Central beacause of their large numbers.  The injury bug has been biting the Dutch for the past two years.  You should know this better than anyone.

The main thing about seeing Waldorf the past two years is that they have to have the most consistently bad passing game I have ever seen on the college level since at least the 1970s.  They throw the ball like it is a huge rainstorm and significant winds are with the opposition.  They are an option team, but they play like Woody Hayes is the coach and they take pride on not spending any time throwing the ball downfield in practice.

It was 31-0 even though the Norse fumbled the ball on punt returns three times in a row (lost two). >:(

As oldNorse said, the  #_th RB on the depth chart had a great day when they started giving him the ball.  The situation at RB is still troubling though as both guys that started at tailback before yesterday are out as of now and that position is starting to look like what Iowa had in that magical year of 2004.  Hopefully one of them can get back soon.

A freshman DB got a bunch of carries yesterday to add some depth and potential, but he seems a little raw still.  I started to think about Jeremy Klein's time at RB in 2005 and 2006 before he moved to defense last year.  He may be bigger now, but may there be a time when he starts getting reps at RB in practice?

One thing looked the same both against Central and Waldorf was that the Norse DL looked very strong. :)  Can Webb find another year to play for the Norse? :)

Great to see Grimm back getting work at kicker!  He looked very solid on his kicks and kickoffs.

I also like what the OL and the OL coach has been able to do to this point. :)

Congrats to Central, Wartburg, and B.V. on the tough wins yesterday!  Even though Loras lost, it looks like the Duhawks continue to show that they are overall better this year.

The Norse have to travel to Storm Lake this week to take on the Beavers.  I would feel better about the game if not for the series in recent years, the good wins already this year by B.V., and the RB situation for the Norse.  Other than that, I feel pretty good about the chances for the Norse. ;D

The Norse Defense should be tough up front again this week, but can the Norse Secondary hold up against the Beaver passing game?  Can Luther get back to winning the turnover game after the punt return team lapses against Waldorf?

The Show

That BV loss to Waldorf a couple years ago has to be one of the most embarrassing losses in the programs history, I don't care if they had an above average QB or not.

In this case it is week 12 as we have a playoff game.  Then we have to figure in our preseason picks.  Then there are the tie breaking questions.  So there is a long way to go with the pickems.

Sounds like BV had a great day, good comeback and win against a good team.  And the Warts took a step towards the top where most of us that they would be. Congrats.

I saw both good news and bad in Pella Saturday.

Good news:
1.  Lackey can play QB.  He mostly brings a running threat that Bandow does not, but he also threw some good balls.  Nice to have that depth at a key position and with those two we also have Snead who will undoubtedly be in contention next year.
2.  The Dutch running game clicked, especially in the first half.  Most have have been due to the running QB, but much of the play calls were out of I set, more smash mouth than spread.  Good work by both RBs and O-line.  Made the Spartan D look bad for major chunks for the first half.
3.  Some Dutch walking wounded getting back in the game, definitely fewer Frosh on the field than the past two weeks.  Thats very good news.
4.  My Rusty Nail tasted just as good with the cheap scotch!   ;D ;D

The bad
1.  The Dutch lost another second half.  Up 21-7 at the break and gave up two long drives by DBQ is troubling.  At halftime I was thinking I was watching Spartan team of old, but not so.  The Spartans are a threat to anybody if they put a whole game together.
2.  The DBQ TE (Burkin) lined up wide and really hurt the Dutch.  He broke a long one in the first half, not fast enough to score on it,but set him up for numerous short routes the rest of the game. He got way to much space and made us pay.  Big target. like Pearson a couple years ago  at LC, only less speed.  If the Dutch cover him, I don't think it gets close.
3. Coe, Cornell, Loras, BV and Simpson on the schedule yet.  They could all be losses if the Dutch don't come to play on any Saturday.

So, Congrats to the Dutch.  Keep improving and they could also be wins.  Go Dutch

What has happened to everyone on the board  ??? ??? Not much chatter lately I realize the seasons are not going the way we thought but BV has to be enjoying the season so far.... ::) ::)

Well I don't think there is much to say about this last weekend.  On the pickem board we had the most correct pickems the whole year.  There were 15 posters with perfect picks this week.  Out of 30 posters things went pretty much as the majority thought they would.  There were some good games.  Almost some upsets but not quite.  BV is having a great season so far.  I think the thing about this year is that there are so many games left and ones that really have some meaning.  Luther has caught fire and can be a force yet.  There are no gimmes this year.

A BV win this Saturday eliminates Cornell and Dubuque. Reduces their majic number to one, over Simpson, Luther, the loser of the Loras vs Wartburg game, and the loser of Central vs Coe. Leaving only the winners of Coe vs Central and Wartburg vs Loras with a reasonable chance to catch them. It's to early for that. I think in fairness to the other schools, and to promote more discussion on here, BV should lose to the Norse.

My cable and internet was out all weekend at home -- how annoying! Pardon the delayed response, but congrats to all the winners this weekend. BV is on a roll, and definitely the team to beat! I'm excited for the BV/Central match up.

As much as I harass them, I hate to see Coe down....I love the level of competition they usually bring to the conference.

Congrats to the Dutch -- we've gotta figure out how to put together four quarters -- IN ONE GAME. A two posession lead at halftime turns into a cardiac moment? Come on....Excercise control of the ball, the game clock, the tempo, and get it done.

Final thought -- where is ShowMe? Is show and tell over for the season already?  ;)
