Someone on the board mentioned the Warts/Norse game in two weeks.  LC needs to play Coe first and THAT is a problem.  If the Norse lose FOCUS...........  .  No prediction on the Coe/LC game at this point however.  Only HOPE that "springs eternal".
Hey Luther - You guys have a big game with Wartburg coming up.  Best focus on that!  Wartburg, same goes!  I think you better start planning ahead.  Focus on Luther-Wartburg, nothing else matters, that is the championship game.  Repeat that in your minds every 5 minutes.  Remember to focus. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Doolittle,

Great day for football.  I hope the apple picking went well for you today.  I hope you got to listen to some of the Spartans win today.

Purple Heys,

Sorry for your rams.  I heard they played pretty well for part of the game.  I hope Jr didn't get nicked up any more today.  Is there any chance you will be at the game next week.  If you come out I will have to seriously consider attending.

Jr. DNP'd for the 2nd straight game.  He's frustrated, he's mad, and he is itching to get back on the field.   >:(

I credit Cornell Staff's judgement in considering the player's health over the team's single game prospects as a parent.

As a fan, I sure hope they can get him back on the field this week...assuming he's ready.
Wouldn't want to rush things.  Best to err on the side of the player's health.   After all, Cornell is playing a team that is down next week.   ;) ;) ;)

It would be fun to see large travelling groups of each of the schools fan bases.  I know from the little I was able to see of the Central/UD game that the Spartans brought very few fans with them...maybe less that Cornell brought to Waverly...but Pella is a bit further away from Dubuque than Waverly.
Unless the UD fans were sitting around the field on the hills, the turnout from UD was extremely small against Central.  It really surprised me because at that time, most folks were writing Central off and UD took us to 3 OT's last year.  I thought they might have turned out in bigger numbers, but chalked up the turnout to the fact that fewer Iowa players means fewer parents and, until a team really gets established as a winning program, not that many fans will make the trip.  I would say that applies to some extent to Loras fans attending the Wartburg game as well.  Plus, since you can watch the games from the comfort of your dorm room now, some fans may opt for that instead of making a trek that may not turn out to be fun.  I know I was glad I had not gone all the way to Luther this year.   :'(

It's going to take a lot more than a close loss to a good team for me to sell!  If you want though, I could loan you a couple t-shirts...

I wouldn't mind seeing both BV and Wartburg winning out.
The only team I want winning out is the Dutch.  I was all for BV, but now that we are back to only one loss behind the leaders, those good feelings are disappearing.  Imagine that?   ::)

Come on Klompy you were never for the Beavers...Do not bother buttering us up with Beaver bandwagoning only to fall off when the Dutch show a small glimer of hope :-*
Actually I was.  And if it can't be Central, I would still be for the Beavers, except that we have yet to play you and since Luther beat us so handily, my good will is swinging their way.  I just figure if it can't be us, I would like to see it be a team that hasn't had that position for awhile, which means not Coe or Wartburg.  But first choice would always be my Dutch.

I would also like to offer my condolences to the Mercer and Price families.  Such a tragic and senseless loss for the Mercer family and friends.  It sounds like Grant Price was an outstanding man and professor who touched many and was looked up to by many.

There are lots of games to be played yet.  There may well be more than two co champs this year.  Then again there may only be one.  There is a long way to go and many teams hold their destiny in their own hands.  Luther, Wartburg, and BV are in that category as I see it now.

Klopenhiemer please go take a look at your picks.  You missed a game and picked two teams to win the same game.  Too much refreshments at work and Kinnick I suspect.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey guys I am back.  I spent all last week in Baltimore for the National Park and Recreation Show.  Then I headed to Iowa City to catch the Hawks game on Saturday.  Last week was a blast, we did not have to be on the floor working the exhibits until noon every day so the nights were filled with "entertaining" customers.  In other words, wrecking your liver!

Tough loss for the Beavers on Saturday.  Sounded like a typical Luther vs. BV win.  Hard nosed game that came down to the wire.  I am not selling off the BV gear yet, as there is still a lot of season left.  We still hold the cards as Luther has to beat Wartburg and win out to stay on top.

BV is in the same spot at 04' and I hope I am not disapointed at the end of the season.  They have Cornell and Waldorf.  If they lose either of these games it will be a big disapointment.  They also have Central at home and Coe on the road.

I am confident that the Beavers will come back this weekend and pound Waldorf and be ready for the following weeks game.

Congrats to all the winners and lets hope the board keeps moving.  Great post 5WOL....I thought the same thing for a while.  We talked so much during the off season that I figured this board would be rolling during the season.  With 4 weeks left in the conference season lets make it the best.

GO BEAVERS!!!

Hey Klop....are you employed in National Park and Recreation area?  I'm thinking about doing a masters in Leisure & Recreation Administration but jobs aren't looking good as Fed and State are cutting and closing many parks.  Any advice??

A rabbi, a priest, and spurrier walk into a bar...um, oh yeah, this is a family board...never mind.

Hopefully we have another weekend like the last one for weather...and results ;)

Shocking as it may sound, I may actually attend the Loras-UD game on Saturday.  I'm going to be in Dubuque anyway to visit a friend who is in the hospital, and if the weather is good enough, I may have to take in some IIAC football.  If the game were at UD, I'd be going for sure to see their new stadium first-hand, but I'm a bit more hesitant since its at the Rock Bowl.  Its a great venue for football, don't get me wrong, but there's just something about giving money to Loras (to get into the game) that makes my skin crawl.

Turnovers costed Coe the game this past Saturday.  With Pinkney out of the game, the dutch OL were able to move up on the LB's Harrison, Thomas, and Yeast that allowed the Dutch to run up the middle. The back-up qb Wallace did not look good at all yesterday, heck the offense looked horrible most of the game! I thought Wallace did a good job throwing the ball away when there wasn't anyone open, but sometimes you just have to give your WR's a chance to make a play instead of throwing it out of bounds everytime.  Hammes continues to be Coe's offense, but only he can do so much.  Defense looked good, but gave up a long play in the 3rd qtr.  I hope Coe can shake off this dissapointing start of the season and finish out with wins.  Should be interesting how they come together in these last few games.

by taking a look at the stats from the game, it looks like Centrals game plan was to keep DE Wilkens out of the game.  He only had 2 tackles while the other DE Hadenfeldt had 10.  I did see Central trading the TE quite a bit, I wonder if that was to help on Wilkens and limit his impact on the game.  Another side note is that the Freshmen QB that came in in the 4th qtr looked pretty good...I guess that is something to look forward to.

I thought the QB was pretty shaky.  I thought he double and triple pumped a lot like he was not sure of his reads.   He didn't get rid of the ball quickly enough and had to scramble a lot.  He didn't appear to have the strongest arm either.  Having said that I don't know but he looked fairly small and maybe a freshman or sophomore and his arm should improve as he ages.  His reads will come with more starts and PT.  Don't misread this and think I am saying he was not a good QB, I think he is young and needs time to grow into the spot.
