Give it up, DF04.  Klop seems to want to pick fights with the Dutch fans on the board lately.  Our totally misguided posts are so far inferior to his posts that it just isn't worth trying to explain yourself.   ::) ::) ::)

I guess they are.  And I am not on his level at all.  I am just to lowly to understand his sky high comments.  I do know the difference between Holy and Holly though.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Looking over the conference stats and some interesting things are there.  Simpson and Wartburg are the two top teams for conference scoring.  The are also the top two offensive teams.  Defensively Simpson gives up fewer yards.  Turnovers Wartburg leads with +9 and Simpson -7.  They seem to be fairly close in offensive turnovers but the Knights have a lot more they have caused.  I think this all shapes up to be a very close game.  The Knights have not been stellar on the road.  They also have not stopped the run as in years past.  Simpson has the #1 rushing offense.  Something has to give there.  Good luck to both teams.  Simpson looks to remain in the IIAC hunt and Wartburg looks for some separation from a second place team.

IIAC Coaches Recruiting Alert!

Rev. 3 just drew his first start last night on the Vista Panther Freshman team.

Pressed into action as a TE (?)  The converted reserve WR caught a pass for 35 yards to set up one score and hauled in a 2 point conversion pass in the second half.  Despite being undersized (which the coaches at Vista expect is only a temporary condition), he blocked his position well.  Coaches pointed out his efforts in the postgame comments as one who stepped it up when asked to step in.

The Panthers spotted the Poway Titans a 14-0 lead before roaring back with 53 unanswered points in a 53-20 Palomar League win.

All was well too except when he caught the 2-point conversion the announcer called him "Alex"  (Heys Jr.'s name)    ;D

But the real highlight to the week was the straight A's he earned on the mid-semester grade report sent in the mail.    :)

Now all we need is a Ram's upset win over the Dutch to complete a very good week!  Go Rams!

I took a shot and picked this as my upset special for the week.
Although I think the Kaniggets are pulling it together and will most likely win this, Simpson and its running game has a puncher's chance IMHO.

Not that Cornell over the Dutch is any less of an upset...I always pick the Rams.   8)

Now, DF04, you don't want to take on the role as Spelling and Grammar Police, especially when you didn't use the correct form of "too" in your post, above.  ::)

For what it's worth, Klop had a valid point -- not everyone could go to Central and Wartburg, nor did everyone want to. I mean, hey, if they all went to Central, who would the Dutch have defeated Saturday afternoons?  ;D

Kidding -- here's to a safe Saturday afternoon all around!

Not sure but they have a large family and over half of it attends or did attend UD. Quite a sad story especially all that was lost after the first fire and then all the work done to rebuild only to have the same type of trajedy happen again.

Re:  Fire at Breitbach's in Balltown

Many of you have already heard that Breithbach's Family Restaurant in Balltown, Iowa burned to the ground this morning, ten months to the day from the Christmas Eve fire that destroyed the historic original building, December 24, 2007.

Showing the strength that is a hallmark of Iowans, the family made the courageous decision last winter to rebuild.  With the enthusiastic assistance of the many people who have been supporters of Breitbachs for decades, the new restaurant opened in June of this year.

Mike and Cindy have sent five children to UD:  Peter, Mike, Ben, Matt, and Tony- along with a number of relatives and employees.

The Breitbachs are truly a Spartan family, and a real part of our extended global UD family.  As Iowans and Spartans, we are known as people who come to each other's aid, who stand together in good times and bad.  Please let these folks know in your own way that you support them.

The Breitbachs are a wonderful family who have been there for so many people in this region.  When the time comes to rebuild again, I ask that all of us consider responding to the call to assist in whatever ways people are needed - perhaps to be on one of the Spartan Rebuilding Teams that their UD family will put together.

Let us keep this UD family in our prayers and help them bring Iowa's oldest family restaurant back to life again.
