Okay folks its getting to end of the season and we should be chattering our brains out.  I am not going to start talking playoffs yet, but the Beavers still have a lot of business to take care of.

Lets start with this...If the season ended today who are you pick for the following.

COY:  Anderson or Ostey.. i though Loras was going to be the cellar deweler this year
POY:  McGrew:  hes insane... but Loras is killing him - 40 carries a game???
Biggest surprise: Loras for above reason
Biggest disapointment:  Coe - 0fer at home??? never happens  Central - but many thought they were going to be rebuilding.
Biggest turning Point in the season for any team:  Central - winning at Coe.  Coe - playing poorly in their 1st 2 games of the year.  BV - beating Wartburg, and the rebound after the loss.  Loras - beating Central.  Cornell - losing to Grinnell.

Also vote for your favorite IIAC mascott:  have to go with Charlie.

Make that 2 for Charlie.   ;D
In the words of Bobby Knight: "I mean, I deeply hope we beat their ass today."

Congratulations to the Wartburg and Loras foosballers.  The men's and women's teams from both schools are in the IIAC soccer championship matches tomorrow.  I'm hoping for 3 Knight championships all in one day.  It might be a long shot, but that is my dream.

Loras has the chance at 3 titles tomorrow (soccer, soccer, volleyball). Doubt it will happen, but two is very possible. Congrats to the Duhawk volleyball team on going worst to first in one season!
Not going to lie...Dewey is a pretty good looking bird/furry beaked body builder.

To clarify, these votes are for Charlie Kohawk the mascot, not the D3boards poster, quite obviously. So I agree.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

I will chime in on postseason awards...I haven't been posting but I have been following the IIAC action this season.

COY: Anderson and Willis.  Whoever gets the conference championship gets the nod.
POY: McGrew.  He is having a fantastic season for Loras...168 yards/game.
Surprise: Luther being .500...with all the people missing from the Norse offense, I was sure they would be below .500 but Durnin has the defense playing solid every Saturday.
Disappointment: Coe being winless at home is shocking.

As far as mascots, I will always be partial to the Norse.
Go Norse!!!

I have a strange feeling in my stomach today as I will be cheering for Central

I'm thinking(hoping) for  a 13-10 Central victory. Here's to another BV meltdown at the end of the season when they are in the driver's seat.

WB D is playing extremely well right now which isn't good for UDUB.
I see a 27-7 WB victory

Hawks will play tough today  because of their D.  They will play even tougher if they get Greene 30 touches.  They don't get him the ball nearly enough-

BTW, MN gophers were the worst 1 loss team going into last week and now they are the worst 2 loss team in the country.

Dutch win in Storm Lake 23-14.  Way to go Dutch.  Finish the season strong next week and work hard in the off season.  Man, hard to believe the season is almost over already!

Purple Heys

7-0 Heartbreaker.

Had our chance, didn't get it done.

A pass to Jr. set us up at the 3... 2 plays later we fumbled an option pitch (might have been a forward pass, but that would be a stretch).

Our red zone proclivity has been less than desirable.

Losing our starting QB from mid 3rd Qtr on made it especially difficult.

Freshman inserted at QB had not attempted a pass
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

The Evil Empire lucks out and beats Dubuque 20 to 13 in OT. Bright spot for the future Lemar Harvey  Freshman running back for the knights had over 200 yds rushing. Didn't get to listen to the game got in on the tail end of Willis on the radio.

A BIG THANK-YOU TO CENTRAL FOR THEIR VICTORY OVER BV. WARTBURG WIN THE  CHAMPIONSHIP OUT RIGHT.

Harvey had 40 carries today. The little guy got a coming out party in style.
Back to the being the evil empire.
Congrats to the kids. A lot of things needed to fall in to place for this to happen. Guess it was just meant to be.
Who gets COY?
Bv's coach or Osty?
Doubt Willis gets it, but I've been wrong before.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

PH....
#12 looks like a good kid.  Got dumped a few times as tight end when tried to block but did pick up a cross pattern pass well.  Cornell played a respectable game as did LC.  Not much excitement...just a lot of pushing and shoving.

Wartburg Fan..
Don't be too cocky!!  The warts backed into that victory.  I listened to the game and if the Spartans had not celebrated their 2nd touchdown.....and received a penalty for "excessive celebration" on the ensuing extra point.....Dubuque would have won.  The stars were aleigned for the Warts.  One observer hopes you play Whitewater first in the playoffs.

With Loras losing today I would say that BV is ahead in the running for COY.  They will finish in second place after being picked like 8th if memory serves.  So that is a huge improvement from where they thought they would be.  IMO Wartburg was picked first in the conference will finish there but barely needing a Dutch win and surviving a game with the #8 team in the confernce.  I think it will be close as Willis did step in at the very last minute and he may have been at a disadvantage as the Knights were expected to win the conference.  Just my two cents worth and as you have said, I have been wrong before as well.

The end of that game plays out totally differently if the kid doesn't "excessively celebrate." Wartburg had around 2:40 left and started their drive at the 40. Moved the ball very well to start out but then tried running a little as well.

From the accounts here it sounds like Wartburg had a gut check and pulled it out.  UD could have stepped up and stopped the Knights but didn't.
