Congrats to all winners and especially the Dutch as they took a HUGE step forward with another win whille being out gained.

I am sadly disappointed that the most loyal of Central backers could not pick their Dutch this weekend.  DF2004, DF1 and Klompen, among others.  No Dutch letters for you!

Add my congrats to the Knights on the IIAC championship. Also to Central, Simpson and Luther on their wins. It's great for the conference when teams like Dubuque and Cornell compete to the end, in disappointing seasons. It makes the better teams play hard every week, and shows positive leadership in their programs.
I was surprised by the attendence figures at Waverly. I would have guessed 750 at Carlson stadium, with about 50 on the Rams sidelines. I see it listed at 515. No fudging there.
I have a hard time seeing McGrew being a lot more valuable to his team than Yordie is to his. Either would be well deserved, with special mention to Ruetzel. I don't think Willis gets many votes for COY. If BV wins next week, I think it's Anderson. If BV loses next week, it'comes from the winner of the Loras vs Luther game.

Congrats to the Knights...a win is a win and a championship is a championship, no matter how you do it!

I would like to see Willis get the COY.  Yes, Wartburg had a lot of talent returning this season but to win the championship with all the coaching changes says a lot about him and the rest of the staff!
All the coaching changes?  I'm not sure of it, but I thought all assistants but Koehler stuck around, I'm sure someone can straighten me out on that.

Wartburg's Full-Time Coaches (years):
Rick Willis (10th year)
Tim Morrison (7th)
Joel Dettwiler (5th)
Chris Winter (5th)
Dan Hammes (1st)
Reed Hoskins (1st)
Marcus West (1st)

All 5 of the part-time coaches are the same from last year, but when you add in Willis that's 4 out of 7 new coaches on the staff this year.  Even with the part-time guys factored in, you're still looking at one of every 3 coaches being new.

And both coordinators were first year coordinators. Its a whole new animal when you're the one making decisions rather than suggestions.

What are the odds Wartburg gets to travel to Monmouth for the first round?

Not sure. Depends on who the 8 teams are in the West Bracket.  I would say that they are better than even right now.  What are the distances for the two MIAC schools that are battling it out for the AQ up there.  I think it will be the IIAC or MIAC champ there.  If and I say if the SCIAC would get two in the dance then you might see the Knights get to go to the left coast.  If the SCIAC gets two in then one will go up and play the NWC champ or the NWC champ will play Oxy at Oxy.  Purely a guess but Monmouth, Willmette, UWSP will get seeds.  If they import a team into the West then it will be a #1 seed that rounds out the seeds.  I would hate to see the SCIAC get hosed with a 9-0 champ not getting a seed but I think that could happen.  That is due to the strength of the WIAC and the respect that they earn.  I know putting two SCIAC teams will cost the NCAA two flights.

Seems like all of my teams have hard time getting over the hump and tend to "choke" when the time comes.  In high school we could never seem to get around Dowling but played them close, the Beavers, enough said.  I guess at leats I chose to be a New England Patriots fan when I was 8 years old.  That has paid off.  I still have Drew Blesoe's rookie card poster in my room at my parrents house.  Wow I was a geek.

I guess some thing never change.  I compare this to the Dowling vs. Valley match up at the high school level.  Valley is the team that you love to hate (Wartburg) and Dowling is a private catholic school making good things happen with not a lot of resources regarding the amount of kids who come through the door (Buena Vista).  But whatever.  Things happen and lets hope we do not lay an egg in Mt. Vernon to make ourselves the total laughing stock of the conference.

As Ricky Bobby says "If your not first your last", but the boys can hang their hat on a second place finish with a first year quarterback and being outsized and outmaned all most every week.  I still think the most disapointing loss of the season has to be the loss to Luther.  If we would have taken care of business against the Norse, we would not  be in this situation.

Sincerely,

Ouch, I know -- lesson learned! I'd rather drop the pick and pick up the W in this case, though!

Congrats to the Beavers -- even with a loss yesterday, you guys are having a hell of a season.

Consider me on the 'Burg bandwagon in the postseason. From those of us who have been there, do us proud!  ;)

Dutchie, there's plenty of room. If you're not too careful, you may stay.

I was not happy picking BV in the least.  With the Dutch losing to Loras the week before and they way the lost I did not know if the boys would get it together.  The did and I was never so happy to lose one of my picks than this.  In the last 5 years this is the only time I did not pick the Dutch.  It might be I will have to pick the opponents more often so that the boys will be fired up and win.   ;D ;D  If that is all it takes is me not doing well in the pickems I would glady do that.

I guess I am in a position that is not to hard to take.  My one son is not real happy about the IIAC not going to the Dutch and I have one son that is very happy about the Knights taking the IIAC.  I don't think there are many posters in that situation.

It pains me as always to say it, but congrats to the Knights on their season.  Another IIAC title and another trip to the playoffs.  The win on Saturday should all but sure up the COY honors for Willis.

I guess I am joining DutchFan2K4 on the 'Burg bandwagon for the 2008 playoffs...I hope they represent the IIAC well.

WH...is there room for a Norse grad on the 'Burg 2008 Playoff bandwagon ???
Go Norse!!!

Klopenhiemer

After next weekend, I hope there is room for all IIAC fans on the Burg bandwaggon as it heads to the playoffs.

Thanks, but I'll stick with Central. Cheering for Wartburg is like enjoying a fine adult beverage -- sometimes enjoyable, but you have to know when enough is enough.  ;)
