Good call Fan Rex! Add my thanks as well.

It used to be, (back in the day) that every little burg around here had a small parade on Vets day. Apparently our lives have gotten to busy to set aside an hour a year to honor  the men and women who served our country. Now the first reminder is the Post Office door locked. Thats a sad statement.

You heard it here first...

Looking at potential playoff match-ups for Wartburg today, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see the NCAA place North Central as the #1 seed here in the West Region to get them in a different bracket than Mount Union.  I'm not saying that's who I think the Knights would face in the first round (I think Monmouth or Whitewater are more likely destinations), but if I'm right, that would all but eliminate the SCIAC getting a second team (Redlands) into the playoffs, and put the odds of a Wartburg road trip to the West Coast in the first round at essentially slim and none.

Congrats to all winners and especially the Dutch as they took a HUGE step forward with another win whille being out gained.

I am sadly disappointed that the most loyal of Central backers could not pick their Dutch this weekend.  DF2004, DF1 and Klompen, among others.  No Dutch letters for you!
I was using reverse psychology.  And I was afraid the weather was going to mimic the Bethel playoff weather of last year when even an outstanding Dutch team didn't look as good as they were.

IF Travel is a priority..then Willamette and Oxy would meet in 1st round

That could happen but I also read someplace that MUC could move to the East again so if that happens North Central would stay put.  It is pretty fun to take a look at all of this and guess what is going on.

Pretty big dropoff after the first two, and Central's will be lower after this Saturday.

Teams that had turf as their home field longer would have a bit of an advantage.  You do tend to win more at home than on the road...unless you are Coe College in 2008!!!

I think thats fair to say Doolittle. Dubuque was 5-3 at home the last two years, and I think it's probable they would have won those games on turf as well. Good stuff 5words.

3 of the bottom 4 teams on that list still play on grass-the only ones in the conference that do so.
Wartburg played one game on grass this year at BV. Didn't turn out so well.

So, does Augsburg have turf? Or are the Knights 0 for two on grass this year?  Never mind. Thanks Walston.

Simpson Joke of the Day

A Simpson football player was bragging about his knowledge of state capitals. He proudly says, "Go ahead, ask me, I know all of them." A friend says, "OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin?" The player replies, "Oh, that's easy: W."
A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

I have no direct knowledge but I would guess those three fields will stay grass for sometime to come. BV and Luther becase of their proxsimity to water, and Cornell for lack of loosening the purse strings. Unless some rich BV grad comes forward, Klop!
