Purple Heys

I went to the Chargers game this Sunday.

As the wind blew and clouds greyed the sky, the temperature dropped...me and my fellow fans pulled our hoods over our heads, some folks wore gloves and scarves.

Gametime temperature:  58 degrees....brrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!    8)

Maybe the next poll question coud be...Are Wartburgers unable to count or untrustworthy?  ;D ;D ;D

I'd bet the former, but I only took 1 math class and it was intro to computer programming.
Should have just gone with basic math. Only C I ever pulled in college IIRC.
MIght have got one in my senior capstone course, but by that time I had pretty much checked out mentally.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

High of 32 on Saturday with 40-45 mph winds and 60% chance of snow in Ames and I've got tickets to watch the Clones get destroyed by Missouri. Maybe the weather will provide a good defense and keep the game close.

You heard it here first...

Looking at potential playoff match-ups for Wartburg today, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see the NCAA place North Central as the #1 seed here in the West Region to get them in a different bracket than Mount Union.  I'm not saying that's who I think the Knights would face in the first round (I think Monmouth or Whitewater are more likely destinations), but if I'm right, that would all but eliminate the SCIAC getting a second team (Redlands) into the playoffs, and put the odds of a Wartburg road trip to the West Coast in the first round at essentially slim and none.
I didn't think to much about this when I read it at first. I tended to think like DF2004, that one of them would move East. Upon further review, with 5 unbeatens in the North, including the number 1,2,3 ranked teams by D-3, with the 1,2,4 regional rankings, and the 1,8,10 strength of schedule, Wabash can make a good case for a 1 seed also. With Milsaps sitting at number 4 in the rankings, and number 1 in their region, and the number 2 strength of schedule, they should stay put. That would leave North Central as the logical choice to come West.
I don't think Monmouth will get any higher than a 4 seed, so they wouldn't meet the Knights. With all the whining that went on out west last year, I think Redlands could and should get in. I think a plane trip out west or hotel reservations in Whitewater are real possibilities.

I have friends with an extra ticket to the Hawkeye game.  They called here and when I answered asked to speak to my wife.  They figured it's better to just go straight to the boss to ask if I could go with them to the game.  This weekend is our daughters b-day party...in Iowa City...so I will be in town...just not at Kinnick Stadium ;D

or reason to drink heavily.  ;D

Dress in layers and it's not too bad. I was in IC for the game last week and did alright.

You deserve a medal for going to watch the Clones this year.  To top it off in that kind of weather.

Looking at those I think Northwestern is out of luck.  Being #8 with two AQ's behind you does not look good.  If they would get in then Redlands is out.  I don't think they would fly Redlands into the North but could if they wanted to ship a North team West.

I hate to say it but I think that SK is right on the regional ranking stuff.  Take a look at the North Region.  They have MUC, North Central, and Wabash all in the top 3.  That would be highway robery to leave those 3 teams in the same bracket.

Here is another thing I have been thinking about.

Central home attendance this year is

1,500
3,000
1,500
1,000

But we also see that the Central fan base will fill up the visiting side seating at most schools to over flowing.  So you get between 500-800 Central fans at some away games.

Does Central have one of the smaller overall fan bases but the most committed to following their team across the state???  I'm not sure what to make of these numbers...especially after seeing Wartburg with an announced 3,000 for their Dubuque game when there was actually about 300 there ;D
Clearly Central rounds the attendance numbers to the nearest estimated 500 and I would guess that they round down, but who really knows.  I do think Central has one of the most committed, or should be committed ??? ??? ???, fan bases in the IIAC.  I can say that I went for a period of over 25 years where I never missed a home or away game, regular season or playoffs and I know several other people that can top that!  Now I have other obligations that keep me from making every game in person, but I am always listening and sometimes watching now that we have internet video.

Wartburg
3,200
4,200
4,600
3,800
1,200 Hey, they lowered the attendance...good job guys!!!

Of course, it sounds like they were still about 700 too high.  Maybe they counted internet attendance.   :D :D :D

They can move North Central to the West as the # 1 and avoid a flight and I think that would be Wartburg's reward.  The can ship Redlands to the North to play Wabash as the # 2.  That would be 1 flight per Region.  Oxy would go to Willamette as Willamette would be the #2 seed.  A possiblilty.
