I better give them, and Coe credit for that since they were on the schedule then.

Yes, you should since Illinois Wesleyan tied North Central last year for the CCIW championship.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

On a side note, has anyone seen or been to Whitewater's stadium??  :o

Yep, went to football camp there all through high school, I think they claim that it is the largest D3 stadium in the nation. It really doesn't compare to any IIAC stadium. Right now I don't think they even have visitor side stands, however there is plenty of seating on the other side. Very nice facilities all around.

For a week leading up the a playoff game, conversation is pretty weak.

Wartburg fans, what's the thought on UW-SP? They beat defending national champions 17-16, but lost to a 3-7 UW-River Falls. Will this be a one-and-done trip to the post season for the Knights, or will Wartburg pull out a win? Thoughts? Projections?
Stats look similar to Wartburg. Running for about 70 yards a game and passing for over 200.
Defense averaging 15 ppg, with an o scoring around 22.
No dominating by any means but also probably more of an indicator of the competition they play.

I don't know whether to anonymous post about, the Cornell coaching staff, Klopenhiemer's skivvies or who's season was more disappointing.  I think I will go positive, even though I am anonymous and say that Central's season would be a little less disappointing if they could say that they were within one more pass interference penalty of kicking a field goal to beat a team that went deep into the play-offs.  So Go Wartburg!  I'll try to find a spot on the Wartburg bandwagon if someone will promise me it doesn't have artificial wood siding or anybody's dirty underwear on it.

Did anyone catch Lance Liepold on the Bob Bruce Radio Experience on WMT 600 last night.  He was on with Matt Dillon discussing the two teams.  Both said that each team has a good defense, but both teams struggle to run the ball on offense.  Liepold went on to say that UWSP has a great WR.  Sounds like this one could come down to the kicking game.

I love the IIAC as much as the next guy on this board but I would have to agree with you in that the competition is much greater in the WIAC. They benefit a lot from there being little to no D2 schools in the state and I think only 1 or 2 D1 football programs in the state. Also, all of the WIAC schools attendance is much larger than any IIAC school, and the cost for in state is much cheaper than the private schools in the IIAC...not sure if you can compare stats much at all.

I see they had a game this year with over 11k there. By the looks of it, I'd say it seat between 9-10k.

Oh ya I think when we were there they said seating was 10,000.

I know that the coaches meet on Sunday after the season is over.  So I am sure that the players know or will be getting notified.

I won as many college games this year as he did.
KIDDING. kidding. I just had to throw something out there, it was too easy.

Isn't profit a dirty word in out society today?  Recoup costs but noooooo profit.   ;D ;D ;D

According to their 990 form for 2006, Coe made about $9 million that fiscal year.  That's a good amount of cash to have on-hand, considering the school gives out $15 million in financial aid every year.

I got a chance to watch River Falls vs La Crosse this year as it was in Winona.  UWL blew them out of the water.  A kid from my high school who plays for RF was saying it was a real up and down year for them.  So the 3-7 win over UWSP might have just been an on day or lucky day.  I don't follow the WIAC very closely, but looks like it is a little off this year with UWL not in the top (maybe Durnin leaving had an impact?) and UWW obviously isn't as powerhouse as they have been recently (still good, don't get me wrong).

I think the recent success of Wartburg's run game will be a big help on Saturday.  And if Yordi can be decent to good with his pass game, should be a win for the Knights.

I really hope the Knights run game can continue to get better, like over the next 5 games :)
We don't need the 200+ yard days, but if the team can be in that 150-180 range, I like our odds. Probably means the defense hasn't been on the field that long.

That would be nice, but you will probably see the best run defense the Knights have faced this year. They have played against some pretty good running teams. If we get good passing weather and Yordie can spread them out and make them defend the whole field, I like the Knights chances. I also like the Knights secondary against the Pointers passing game. This will be the best team Wartburg has played this year. I don't think Wartburg has put together their best game yet. Saturday would be a good place to start.
