Wartburg Fan

WH, SK ,warthog,89.1 glad to hear you all made it back home safe. In fact I hope everyone that went to the game made it back safe. Sounds like you saw a very good game Saturday. I wasn't surpise when I hear there was alot of Wartburg fans there its seems like we travel well to watch the Knights. The pregame show with Willis (the guy everyone hates) said good things about the fans that follow the team. WH and Sk  when you guys go to the games the Knights are 5-0 so you know you have to go to Monmouth.

And Dubuque may have suffered a similiar fate, had they not been playing Galena or Rock Grove or who ever Waldorf.

Rock Grove? - you actually know where that wide spot in the road is?
Absolutely. Half way between Orangeville and Durand. Right LC?

Ex-Bronco here, long before the glory days with the state title.  Odd place to see reference to those places.  Although Schipper was known to say the best FB players live within 50 miles of HWY 20.

Geez, what a long day, but a great win!
I remember that Illinois is just across the river, but I don't know the geography there, and didn't know far far Monmouth is. Heck, that's lots closer than a home Wartburg game for you.

Because of the geography of Illinois's western border formed by the Mississippi River ... Monmouth is straight south of Davenport.

DBQ1965...non IIAC football related question.

Knowing the travelling nature of ministers.  How many churches and how many states have you preached in???  Just curious.

And...how has the state of Michigan done this year regarding D3 and D2 playoff games???

LCNorse is a more recent ex-Bronco, I believe. I am about 35 miles North of there. My job has taken me to all the small cheese factories in that neighborhood over the years. Small world isn't it?

Wow...I would definitely agree with the quality of football that is played in that area...wish I would see more IIAC schools go there for their athletes...There is a soph from Warren IL that had a great year for the Norse as a DB...this was the last place that I thought there would be a O-ville Bronco reference...haha...

Thunder...my high school job was working in Prairie Hill Cheese Factory near Juda...heard of it?

Great win today for the Knights!    Warthog, let me know what time you will be heading over next weekend, definately going to make the trip over for the game.  On a negative side, crossing the bridge at Burlington won't be the same b/c all the dirty strip clubs in Gulfport were flooded out this summer!   :'(

By the time we got back to the van to leave the parking lot we were already making plans for the trip to Monmouth.  After some very rudimentary mathematics, we figured that the time spent on the road heading to and back from Monmouth next week will be about equal to how long it took us just to get to Stevens Point yesterday.

My address growing up was 15565 Highway 20, So I think the best football players lived ON Highway 20.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Yes, I was sorry to see that one close. I bought a lot of great muenster and brick  from Grossens. I still see Corie regularly at the lab in Monroe. Gary less often, he took a cushy state job as the head cheese maker for Babcock Hall, at the UW. As for some of your other mates, last I knew Steve was at Schullsburg Creamery and Josh and his wife bought a factory outside of Monticello. We buy from Josh and Carla every week so I see them regularly. Now I know where you got your work ethic from. Thats a tough summer job.

First of all ... the serious stuff.

Michigan didn't have any schools qualify for the playoffs in D3.  The MIAA Conference champion was Trine (formerly Tri-State) in Indiana and they lost to Wheaton yesterday.

In D2, Michigan's perennial favorite ... Grand Valley State ... beat Ashland yesterday in Round 2 (first round Bye) and will host Minnesota-Duluth next Saturday.

And now from the "For What It's Worth" department ... as preaching goes I have preached in 9 states ... from California to Connecticut.  Before moving to Michigan in 1990, I had preached in 13 churches, including 5 in Iowa (Dunkerton, Postville and 3 in Dubuque including the University Chapel).  Since I was a regional administrator for the United Church of Christ in western and northern Michigan, my totals jumped to having preached in 80 churches .... many of them on multiple occasions.

My 3 best gigs were being UD Chaplain ... my first little church in Connecticut ... and being retired!

Unless you are like BB and live south of Muscatine, the best way to get to Saturday's 2nd round game is probably to cross the Mississippi at Muscatine and take state highways south to Monmouth.

BB:  Both boys are going to be in town for Thankgiving, we aren't sure yet about Saturday's departure time.  It depends upon whether the wives go shopping or go to the game.  That will probably be a game day decision.  I didn't catch Finley's in-laws at church today, so I don't know if he and his Simpson bride will be in town on Saturday.  Do you know?  I e-mailed his father-in-law to see if they wanted to go.  Knowing Clint, it is likely if he is dressed in orange on Saturday it will be because he is hunting.  With Welk being in the Twin Ciies and his brother coaching basketball at Concordia, it is possible his family will gather up there fo Thanksgiving.  If they are down here for the holiday, I would guess he and his dad will invade Monmouth on Saturday.

Who wants to drink a beer in a non-clear plastic cup with me on Saturday? Congrats Wartburg on the win and I hope Saturday will be a good game. Be safe on the drive.

Congrads to Wartburg on beating UWSP.  Those that are looking for live streaming of the game need to check out the Monmouth website www.monm.edu.  You will have to listen to the Monmouth play by play announcers but they do a nice job of not being biased.  Last week it was free, not sure yet about this weekend.

What was the score of the Wartburg-Loras game?  Any information about Wartburg? Type of offense, defense, studs, etc.
Just trying to be informed about the game on Saturday.

Good Luck to my Scotties!
