This message brought to you by the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce:

Traveling on I-80 take exit 271 to Muscatine (Iowa  38).   When arriving in Muscatine at the intersection of US-61 and Iowa-38 go straight ahead on Business 61.
Follow that four lane street towards downtown.  Cross the bridge over into Illinois on Highway 92.  Travel into Illinois about four miles to the intersection of 92 and County 11, (There is a little church on the corner)  Head south on 11 about 13 miles to the intersection of Illinois 17.  Take Illinois 17 about 15 miles to the insection with Illinois 94 at Aledo.  Take Illinois 94 south in about 8 miles to Illinois 135. Take Illinois 135 east 6 miles to US 67 south 10 miles to Monmouth.  Total distance from Muscatine 50 miles.  Two lane roads but fairly quick.

If this is too many turns you can stay on Illinois 17 through Aledo and catch US 67 south about eight miles east at the little town of Viola.  Going this way is 3 or 4 miles further, but for the novice in the area there are not as many turns.

Wartburg, wishing you safe travels and another week of winning football to celebrate.

For the rest of the conference, here's hoping your turkey is plentiful, your mashed potatos are buttery, the rolls are warm and the green bean casserole is still there when you go through the buffet line! Happy Thanksgiving all around!

Turkey day wouldn't be complete without my mother-in-law's mashed potatoes & gravy. I love lemon meringue pie if done correctly, but it is not a favorite of very many in the family, so it isn't made very often, if ever. I just learn to live without!!! I know you said not to include turkey, but just purchased an oil-free turkey fryer that I am going to put to the test Thurs. Have done many a bird in the traditional turkey fryer & it is excellent. Rumor has it, this is even better, we'll see!! This new fryer could actually be useful @ tailgates in the future.

Fried turkey...AGREED!  I just had to buy one once I got my own place.  I fried one up last Friday night before hunting season began, excellent.  I have a frozen turkey sitting the freezer from work (the "holiday gift"), that will definitely make it into the fryer some Sunday before the end of the year.

What kind of man are you?  Columbus didn't need GPS.  Daniel Boone didn't need GPS.  The thing missing from modern life is adventure.  Just fill the gas tank, figure the compass heading from where you are to Monnmouth and hit the road.  I have seen some interesting sights while I was lost.

I know I know...

But with the holidays and traveling Thur. to SE MN (even farther south than I am now) for a noon T-Day dinner then back to La Crosse for an afternoon T-Day dinner, back to Winona for "work" on Friday (plenty of YouTube that day).  Leaving late Friday night to North Liberty.  Saturday morning to Monmouth for tailgating and football (and a Wartburg win), then back to La Crosse (61 the whole way) that night to celebrate my birthday with free shots and a fishbowl.  Luckily the Bears-Vikings game I am heading to on Sunday is a night game and not a noon game...gives me a few extra hours to recover before heading to the Twin Cities.

Quite the packed weekend, can't really afford to be too adventurous with my travel.

Please tell us more. I was sold on fried turkey years ago, but an oil-free option would be Nobel Prize worthy.

It has English and then Deutsch, couldn't find an English only.

All I could find is that she is the director of the old folks' home in Carroll.

Weather report right now for Monmouth on Saturday is high of 45 with clouds.  Don't think I will need to bundle up like I did at Stevens Point...WH, hockey jersey again?  or do I wear my old #74 jersey from Wartburg?

National Weather Service says partly cloudy with a high of 36, and about a 10 mph wind that will set the wind chill at anywhere from 25 to 30.  I wouldn't break out the shorts just yet.

Pictures, we want pictures.  I need to know how drunk Ross was.  Is Lois beer beautiful or is she really OK.

Looks like she takes care of herself, especially considering she's 38.

I have a question about the Dubuque coaching situation.  First off, why haven't they announced the coaching change on their site?  Yes, I realize they released it to the papers, but why no story of their own? (maybe I just missed it, don't think I did)

Secondly, what are the odds that they are trying to lure former OC Joe Austin back to Dubuque?  He left last year to take the head coaching job at another D3 school, he's from Iowa, it just makes a lot of sense.  Any chance that this is going on behind the scenes as we speak?

Knight Parent

Sportsknight and the rest of the Wartburg fans heading to Monmouth.
I see everyone is wondering about a tailgate area. Well I am a Knight parent that reads the IIAC borad and thought I would register to let everyone know that I have been in contact with Coach Beck and they have set up an area a couple blocks from the field for Wartburg fans to tailgate. The address is Parking lot near corner of N 5th St & Euclid Ave. 1 block west of the tennis courts. Field is on 6th ST.

In an ironic twist:  I googled Lois' name and Carroll Iowa.  The first hit was "connecting young professionals".
