Why would the let go coach Brautigam and staff from the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE when he rebuilit the program to back to back winning seasons this last seaon he had a younger sarting group next year they would of been great and they lost to wartburg in overtime and wartburg is going deep into the playoffs it is B.S. and very disrespectful that they would let go head coach vince brautigam one of the best college football coaches there is in NCAA

Doolittledog ...

Thanks for your comments.  Getting rid of Coach Brautigam continues to be a puzzle for me and I appreciated hearing from someone close enough to the situation to offer some insight into the overall dynamic.  With you, I hope the new coach is a quality person with lots of "W's" in his future.

And UD-SPARTAN ... welcome to the board.  We need all the UD boosters on here that we can get.

SPARTANS FOREVER!

I'm guessing that UD felt Brautigam brought them as far as he could.  That's what happens in college - people get "let go" (pc).  He brought UD a long way from a couple years ago, but took a rather large step back this year, and the ALUM and AD are probably taking a much more serious role in UD athletics with how much money is pouring into that department (i don't know there was any pressure from outside sources this year).  This is all pure speculative and un-biased, but maybe they figured they could get someone better now that they have a better field and facilities, and more money to throw at a better coach.

This ain't Iowa City Carroll. Wartburg women don't go to the bathroom with random strangers. Most of 'em at least.
Give those collage lassey's a little bit of respect
The kind of respect you give them as you stare at the top of their head?

Anyone hear of a time and place for the tailgate to start?  Any good small breweries near Whitewater to pick up a local favorite brew for pre-game festivities?  I would stop by the Great Dane brewery in Madison but then I would never make it to Whitewater.

You can tailgate in any of the parking lots around the stadium.  Festivities may begin whenever you wish them to.  WHITEWATER does have a microbrewery at Randy's Funhunters which is located on the eastside of town on Milwaukee St.    Sorry, I'm one of the few Wisconsinites who is not a beer drinker so I'm uncertain if they sell beer to carry out.  However my wife tells me that the brews are very good.

Without smilie, laughing icons I'm not famaliar enough with WH to know his level of seriousness.  I'm just saying that we didn't get where we are by taking opponents lightly.

The head men's basketball coach at Wartburg, Dick Peth, is from my hometown and I played fastpitch softball with his father.  How's that for meaningless trivia.  :D

That just SOUNDS like a great microbrewery place.  Wisconsin is filled with them, that would be a fun trip to make around the state.

More useless "trivia" or Whitewater/Wartburg connections...89.1TheOne's older brother went to Whitewater for a degree in Business.  One of the better schools in the WIAC for that degree I am told.

Just had this website brought to my attention. Doesn't have anything to do with football, but is awesome. Probably about a month too late with this, but it is fun nonetheless.

Footnote: I've seen the paper disappear with my own eyes staying at Graham Hall.
Doesn't have the haunted tree north of Waverly that the young lady researching the mob on in internship was found hanging from in the late 70's.
Couple places at Coe.
Decorah and Storm Lake have some good ones.
With all those old buildings at Mt. Vernon, there's got to be some good stories there.
Same as Loras
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Whew, nothing for La Porte City, I feel safer now.

When my family lived in the St. Louis area there was a teacher at our high school that was from Waterloo.  After her father died they cleaned out his house and brought back some of his stuff.  When they would come home from work they would find his favorite chair indented like someone had been sitting in it and the TV would be turned on to channel 7...as if he was trying to watch KWWL.

That is the story anyway...if they made it up they did a good job of scaring her students ;)

Go Knights!!!

You could probably add to the Carroll one a ghost in the handicap bathroom stalls at the assisted living center can be heard moaning from the halls... :o

I lived on that floor in Graham Hall my freshman year at Central. I'm not all that superstitious, but I witnessed the paper disappearance myself. It's crazy stuff!

Have any of you who have seen the paper disappear also seen the door then unlocked and laying on a desk?

THAT would freak me out for sure.
