Sakman..couldn't have put it any better.  I actually attended Wartburg for a year and payed way less money becuase suppossedly (see I don't even know if that's spelled right) I earned an acedemic scholarship for 10,00 dollars on top of the other bull sh.. scholarships private colleges offer.  I then went to Whitewater and payed out of state tuition along with at least 1/3 of the people who play, which is a heck of a lot more than I payed in Waverly.  But bottom line Whitewater's coaches are better, they work on the field and off the field a heck of a lot harder, and UWW athletes are considerably better for that!! The improvement a Whitewater, a MUC, MHB player make from the time they were freshman until the time the graduate is a significant difference compared to that of the lower echelon private schools because of coaching and facilites.  NOTHING to do with how many people go to school there!! I can't wait for the game.  Wartburg can't run the ball and don't match up in any phase of the game with UWW.  And don't tell me they beat Point...Point wasn't that good, UWW just played bad.  Besides its play-off time at the Perk...and we just don't lose!!! Go Hawks 44 - 10

Walston,

Your exalum has some comments on the Wiscy board.  Thought I would post them here.  I see the coaches are so good there that they cut him from their roster.  I guess they were not good enough coaches to help him develop into a good enough player to play at UWW.  At least that is what I got from this post.

Pretty telling quote from Jason Lansing:
"This is the best team we've seen in the four years I've been here," Wartburg safety Jason Lansing said of Whitewater. "We're going to have to play our 'A' game and then some to have a chance to win."

Just had this website brought to my attention. Doesn't have anything to do with football, but is awesome. Probably about a month too late with this, but it is fun nonetheless.

With all those old buildings at Mt. Vernon, there's got to be some good stories there.

I lived on that floor in Graham Hall my freshman year at Central. I'm not all that superstitious, but I witnessed the paper disappearance myself. It's crazy stuff!

If you vouch for it, Dutchfan1, then it has to be true.  You are one of the sanest people I know. That is weird.

Actually Mitch would have graduated about 2004 or 5 by my estimation if I remember correctly when he got to Wartburg. Apparently didn't want to put in the time there, did put in time at other schools, went to Whitewater and played as a senior on the "extended" plan last year on their NC team.
Not sure what his beef is with Wartburg, had he stayed there for 4 years, he probably would have been a 1 or 2 year starter on a couple conf championship teams. Totally forgot about the kid until he was announcing the starting lineups for the championship game.
Checked him out and only appeared in 7 of 15 games and caught a handful of passes on the year. Looks like he just rode on the coattails of a good team. Some superior coaching he got.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Surprised Mitch used the old Hawkeye excuse of "we just played bad" against Point. I remember him being a Cyclone fan.
He's just more evidence why the Knights shouldn't bother making the trip. We don't stand a chance against the talent of UWW. Just a bunch of hicks from small towns in Eastern Iowa.  Probably would be more productive heading back to their hometowns this weekend to make sure all farmers go their corn out.

It was crazy! Some of the girls and I were messing around the week of Halloween, so we decided to "test" the legend. We checked the room first (to make sure no one was in there messing with us) and closed the door. The RA Locked it behind us. When the room was locked, it was in perfect order. We did the paper thing, and unlocked the door. The room was in complete disarray -- beds were overturned, and it looked like a tornado had hit the room. The sheet of paper was sitting perfectly on top of the desk in the middle of the room, though. It was like it was the eye of the storm. It was the creepiest things I've ever witnessed.....

DF04, are you trying to stir the pot or what?

Maybe it's just me, but I've been enjoying the playoff banter sans the crap we had with the Johnnies last year. I've been amazed with how civil things have been.....I may have mistaken it for mutual respect. I thought it was a nice change of pace from years past.

Personal opinion, though.

Maybe you both could stop making assumptions and condemnations about a kid you know next to nothing about.  Didn't know he tranfered from Watburg until this week but I do know he played for UWW in 06 and 07 and was considered one of the best blocking WR's they had and was a regular part of the WR rotations.  I believe he worked as a student assistant for the program for several years recruiting players in the off season, as well.  Get a copy of the 07 Stagg and watch a few of his hits for yourself.  The fact that he announced the starting line-up for the offense in the Championship game should tell you that he was an intregal part of the 07 Championship team!  Also, know him personally and he is one of the finest young men I have every met. I am with dutchfan1.  Maybe we could restore some of the mutual respect on here and stop bashing Ex-Warhawk players.

Dutchie,

The paper thing is wild. I'm guessing that the college didn't ever assign any students to that room.

Until now I thought the playoff banter this year was pretty civil, too, and certainly better than last year. At least you don't have all those dumb jokes.

BTW, he has a lot of friends left on this year's team.  Suggest you don't want to get those boys all riled up because the Wartburg fans were trashing Mitch on a web site!   ;) ;D

I'll let him to continue trashing coaches that are good friends of mine and their work ethic, and facilities we are very proud of. Carry on.

I just dropped a bomb on him on the Wisky board. I'll be in -k before the day is out!

You want to battle with him over his opinion of who has the better coaching staff, facilities, etc., go for it.  Just get your facts straight.

so, let me get this straight, WW is going to need more to play for then national championship asperations (i know it wouldnt be enough to get me motivated - i'd atleast need some cash on the line as well), so they will play for a friend (possible friend) that is no longer on the team getting "bashed" by some guys that are alum of the school they are playing, which was started by someone who's only connection to the school is that his son attended the school years back (DF04, dont know when your 1st son went there), and didnt even play football?

give me a break.

Any mid-week predictions for the game from the faithful?  Here are my predictions for the weekend:

UWW 28 - Wartburg 27 (sorry Knights... I think it'll be a heck of a game and I'd love to see it happen)
USC 42 - UCLA 31 (secures OSU's place in BCS and Iowa's place in the Outback Bowl)
Mizzou 48 - OU 45 (gotta hold out hope that UT gets into the national title game somehow)
Alabama 35 - Florida 31 (finally a team that holds Florida SOMEWHAT in check and dashes Tebow's hopes for a 2nd Heisman)
Ball State 28 - Buffalo 24
UNI 38 - New Hampshire 24
Pitt 27 - UConn 21
Va Tech 21 - BC 20
The only thing capable of cutting Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris...
