Question for the board.  Does nerves (Wartburg's) play a factor in the game Saturday or do they come out with the underdog attitude and play loose? Really would like to hear everyones opinion.

In supporting Cornell College, I must support the Kaniggets and their coach, Cornell College Grad Rick Willis.

By the Identity Property of Mathematics (look it up Coe fans), you therefore support Cornell College when you support Rick Willis and the Kaniggets this weekend.

You cannot repel logic of this magnitude.

I say Wartburg started with a bad case of the jitters last weekend and were bum-rushed.  I think it will be moreso them coming out with a chip on their shoulder to not let that happen again and being able to control the jitters they saw last weekend.  One could only hope that UWW has some jitters to aid WB.

I have watched Central in the playoffs a long, long time and my impression from watching them, was that with each new playoff level attained, the nerves increased.  Of course it is really for each new recently attained level given that we won it all our first time in the NCAA playoffs.  Then again, that was only two games.   ;) ;)

I think given that WB has never been this far in the playoffs, nerves might be a factor.  Facing the defending champ, nerves might be a factor.

My guess is it will either get out of hand early and be a blowout or it will stay close down to the end and whoever scores last wins.  I just don't see a team getting, say a 10 point lead and then just trading scores the rest of the way.  But I have been wrong about as much as I have been right.  Good luck to the Knights.  Make us all look good.

The nerve question I think cuts both ways.  This UWW team is a young team.  They have been there before but I would think that these young players have not played in a game with this much on the line.  So them being returning champs does not weigh as heavy if they had a bunch of seniors coming back and defending the Walnut and Bronze.  I think both teams may be nervous at the start.  Once they have a few hits and a slobberknocker or two layed on them they will forget about the nerves and do their jobs.

At the rate you've been posting lately, Heys should be feelin' the love in a couple of days! ;)

In the meantime, here's starting to get you back to neutral.

???   In the aftermath of the Stevens Point loss, every game UWW has played has been a playoff game, with everything on the line.

If recent history is any guide to these late November/December games with snow and cold, I expect the young Warhawks to come out at the opening whistle and pounce on the opposition...just ask the Wesley's, Wabash's, and North Central's - highly regarded teams with high hopes coming into the Perk, only to be out of the game by the middle of the 1st quarter (or in Wesley's case earlier  ;D ).  IMHO, expect to see much of the same this saturday.  UWW takes nothing for granted this time of year and will not overlook anybody (even if some of us do!).   ;)

Good luck to the Wartburg Knights this weekend.

If your offense can maintain some pressure on the Warhawk defense you've got a chance.  Mix your rhythm to keep UWW a bit off balance... doesn't need to happen the whole game but just enough to add an element of surprise.... a little bit of diamond, motion, no huddle... you guys know the drill.

Put a clamp on the Whitewater running game, score a few points and you guys will have a great time.

UWW hasn't shown much inconsistency this post-season, their time is coming.

A  "pound the rock" against UWW?? Ouch! I guess imitation is the greatest form of flattery. I do agree that if Wartburg can put a clamp on the UW-W running game and score points, it will be a good game. Good luck with that....

Any word out of U of Dubuque concerning the football coaching vacancies?

It sounds like UWW has a whole barn full of highly qualified assistants.  Dubuque has new facilities that are not as big as UWW, but they may still be adequate.  Perhaps one of UWW's assistants would be willing to lower himself to take on head coaching duties at an IIAC institution.

Actually I think the logic is faulty... it should be the Associative Property of Mathematics   (look it up Cornell fans)  ;)

well 2 of the 3 teams I follow each have a quarterfinal game saturday.  get to watch the knights @ noon on the web and the panthers @ 6 on gameplan.  The only way it could get better football wise is if the hawks were playing in a Big 10 championship game Sat as well.  check that, WB could be hosting the game which they would ideally win and I could be there in person.

I even had good tickets to the OU-MU game Sat night @ arrowhead but decided to sell and  not to freeze my arse off to watch OU Monkey stomp MU.

Also, I've had a few WW fans email me about my wager post.  To clarify, I was asking for 35 points for WB since there were predictions of a 34-38 pt vicotory by WW being posted.
So far, no one wants to stand behind their prediction and give me the points.   it's too bad, cuz i like free $$
