Easy on HSU guys...their people too...they still have a chance. I believe in the Cowboys...GO CRU!!

thanks Yessir you are buying my lunch on Saturday. Harold's it is. Lets not forget that the QB is not the only injury. Injures to the secondary are also affecting HSU this year. Its hard to win with significant injuries on both sides of the ball. Any word on Feaster. Will he request a Medical ? Anyone know the status on other injured players for HSU who will be back for the game this week. Hard to believe it's BHMU and HSU week and little chatter about the game or guess thats what you get when one school has a poor start. What would the outcome be for HSU if they beat BHMU this week?

Cowboyfan,

You bring up a good point, that  there has not been much chatter.  My thought is with Quincy going down last year, we understand the dissappointment HSU is facing.  On another note, I am going out on a limb here to say that this game seems eery to me.  I believe that UMHB will have to play well to win, and I do not think for one moment that records matter.  It would be a trap for the Cru to waltz on  up to HSU and think we are going to stroll in and win by showing up.  We must come ready, hungry, and focused, if not we will lose.  I know that there are those out there who say it will not happen, but we all remember Southern Oregon, and we must come ready, this is a big game, the biggest of the year it is the one that is next.  HSU has history, pride, and not to mention home field advantage, and they would love nothing better than to knock us off.  I see this as another test for the Cru to handle adversity on the road, and to win in the three phases on the game.  (Down and Distance(includes turnovers), Offense and Defence, and Special Teams). I have nothing but respect for the Cowboys and I know what they are capable of doing, as a Cru fan, I am concerned that we not get caught up in looking at HSU's injuries so that we forget to play 11 on 11 to the best of our abibilites.  I hope this helps to know what I am thinking.  We won last year without QD, and that was part of the motivation.  Cru faithful must understand that this is a 4 quarter affair on Saturday that requires every down played the best we can.  Should be another great game in the storied history of this rivalry.  I wish both teams well, and tip my hat to the Cowboys.  Go Cru!

Stay hungry, focused, humble

Ralph, I didn't know where to post this but wanted to get your opinion.  What do you think about a possible merger between the NCAA and NAIA?
Good morning, Bill!
It may help us with in-region games if they make no distinction between NAIA and NCAA.

If another "D-3" league is available in Texas then we can help our in-region numbers by manipulating the schedules to beat the "cream of the good and the mediocre" teams.

That is calling a spade a spade and not a shovel, but it is the way that the other regions do it, especially the NESCAC and in the UAA.

As for the NAIA schools that would be moving over, will they decide to continue to offer athletic scholarships?  I'll bet that the Sooner Athletic Conference would trend towards D-II.

Texas Wesleyan moved thru the ASC about 2001 on their way from D-II to the NAIA.

Who else in the Red River Athletic Conference is an institutional peer to the ASC and would seek to join the ASC?

The only ones that I can think of are University of the Southwest (Hobbs, NM ), Texas Wesleyan (in Ft Worth and which would need to add sports), Northwood Institute in Cedar Hill (which would need to add men's and women's hoops, and maybe SAGU, (in Waxahachie, which would need to add sports.

I thought about Huston-Tillotson in Austin, but their program has had major turmoil recently.

Belhaven would really help in the East.

What about LSU-Shreveport adding 4-5 sports?  What about adding a bunch of sports (8-10) at LSU-Alexandria?

I totally agree!  The Cru scared me last week with not putting McMurry away early. If they are not focused and ready, we could get shocked!  I will say though, that the Cru needs to utilized L. Bailey more, the freshman quarterback.  The kid can run and has a super strong arm.  I love who we have at QB, but I would love to see Bailey play more.  He is exciting.

I am making the trip this weekend to Abilene.  I always look for some good BBQ, so if there is a place I should take in, please let me know.  See y'all this weekend!

I don't think staying focused for this one will be an issue. In fact, that was part of the lethargic effort against Mcmurry in looking towards HSU. This is they type games that records don't matter and the focus/getting-up shouldn't be a concern. If they can't get up for this game then there are bigger problems. The D will prepare as if Feaster will play, if not he has a capable back-up. My biggest concern through 3 games is the stupid penalties we keep having on both sides of the ball. Can get away with that against weaker teams, but not over the next 3 weeks.

Yep, totally agree.  They are making some poor mistakes and are getting penalized big time for it.  I hope Coach Fred can get the guys to have focused energy. They will be geared up and hyped.  Playing within their selves and staying disciplined will be key.

My thoughts were geared towards the middle of the pack of the ASC.  #30 thru #120

Pre-Feaster injury, I thought that HSU was solid.

I am trying to figure out how Centre is only a home TD better than an AC team that picked off a late 4th Quarter INT in the end zone to beat McMurry, and yet Centre is turning heads.

It does not surprise me that Huntingdon caught LaCollege in the post-HSU delirium.  What a comedown.  LaCollege could have had a shot at a Pool C bid with a win over Huntingdon.  Now they must run the table.

Ralph,
HSU is still solid. I thought they were on their way to a great season too but injuries happen sometimes. They aren't the top 5 team they had before they lost 4-5 key players, but everyone else is still pretty good and I thought they put a solid team on the field Saturday. They've had a tough schedule.

It was a bad year for them to drop a little bit because I do think that MS College and Louisiana College are significantly improved this year. I know it's not reflected in the polls, but the ASC is better top to bottom IMO other than HSU being banged up. I know our big loss to Cumberlands has kept us out of the polls and hurt the ASC a bit, but it was 35-20 at the half against an NAIA team that's won 13 straight regular season games. They were as good as UMHB teams I've seen, we just couldn't stop them.

Regarding Centre, they might only play one really good team this year and could go 8-1. Millsaps is still the best in the SCAC and very good, just not like last year. They dominated Trinity, who has been unimpressive all year, with Millsaps outgaining them 514-186 in total offense. DePauw hasn't been very good but could still get straightened out, they have talent. But Centre has a great opportunity. The only SCAC score I don't understand was the Millsaps 31-30 win over AC, but Millsaps did turn it over 4 times.

I wasn't shocked by the LC-Huntingdon score because of how big the HSU win was for LC, it's hard to get back up the next week. I hope we're ready to play LC because HSU was huge for us too. I'm anxious to see how it plays out.

If anyone is interested, we have archived broadcasts up for our games against Millsaps, Cumberlands and Hardin-Simmons. The Millsaps game is missing the 1st quarter.

You should come meet us before the game @ Harold's if you want good BBQ.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Its not a great source for HSU information, but the Temple Daily Telegram wrote a story about the upcoming game and said that both Feaster and Robbins are doubtful for the game. This could be wrong but the writer Eric Drennan is pretty good about doing his homework.

In other missing player news, the Cru will be getting DE Brenson Bristow back for the HSU game and will be a back up to Marco Coppola.

Also Coach Pete said that Noack is still the QB of the team.....for now..... however he did say"we're not going to sit back and not play the best one, either."

Chris, in my opinion HSU is only solid on offense.  Their defense did not look good against MC.  They have given up a lot of points this season.
