While listening to the local ESPN radio station based out of Waco, they were talking about Baylor Universities last game against OU and mentioned that Andrew Judy scored the lone touchdown for Baylor.
The name sounded very familar me to and after a quick google search I realized that was because he played his first two years at UMHB as a defensive lineman.

I say all of that to ask the group if they know of other D3 players who have made the jump to D1 ball and made any sort of impact. I know Shaun Rochon did it at UMHB and became a starter at Baylor.

What are MC's chances at an at large bid this year?
If they play UMHB reasonably Close and still lose?
I would think they would be 8-1 on the year (NAIA loss doesnt count).

Would like to see a competitive game and would like to see Shaffer operate the varied offense of MC and the Bailey kid, the option, for MHB. I would like to see "someone else" really challenge UMHB for the Title like ETBU did once upon a time. It adds some spice to the conference.

I read some comments from up above about Wesley being aggressive vs. MHB. I can tell you from my experieince, that aggressive is by far the best way to go with MHB. They are human and beatable, very human and very beatable. The problem has been through the years intimidation and not being able to match the intensity throughout the 4 quarters. You must be willing enter the "bar fight" and just keep punching with MHB to have a chance. People just havent been able to do it. It isnt physical, so much as emotional, mental, etc. You must be willing to stoop that low, or really, elevate your play to that level.

Are you inferring used2b that UMHB plays dirty?

I think he both said UMHB plays dirty at times (which I would agree with) and that they bring consistent, unrelenting intensity, which most teams just can't match for 4 qtrs.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I usually agree with you, but have to draw the line here. What are you refering to as dirty play. Offense/Defense? I have watched this team play every game for the last 3 years and have not seen any evidence of dirty play. Aggressive, certainly, but not overt dirty play. Liked to hear further on what you are refering to.

Never said or meant to say they play dirty. Contrary. I think they play real hard and real clean, for the most part.
I was just saying, to beat UMHB, you have to forget everything and play lights outs out and match them blow for blow, with intensity and execution, like a "bar fight" and most teams just wont allow themselves to do that. It takes a certain (large) amount of guts to jut get your team to smashing in to them like UMHB does to you. That is what they hang their hats on. Intensity. You just must beat them at their own game. You must be able to rise to that level and then, you can beat them. But not many people have risen to that level lately. these are my opinions.

I'm not talking cheap shots like hitting in the knees, or trying to hurt anyone.  I'm talking what some refer to by saying it ain't illegal if you don't get caught.  The things that could be called, like holding which happens on just about every play, "incidental" contact while covering a receiver, that type of thing.  It is against the rules and therefore, at least in my mind, dirty play.  Call it being aggressive if you want.

Ok, let's see, UMHB dirty.....Well, I've been around bout as long as any Cru fan. I was there when the recruiting began for The CRU, back when they were still "just" Crusaders, when there were girls who would help out with the recruiting when the guys came for a visit, and when I and my roomies had to move off campus to provide room for the team, which we did with much joy and excitement. I have been to many games, and not once have I felt we are dirty. When I think dirty, I think Detroit Pistons late 80's early 90's. Dirty is what was happening two weeks ago in Abilene. Pushing after the play and ripping guys helmets off after the play seemed almost natural. Perhaps a new word should be used in that description as dirty is a little off.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Khalid Nazirrudin HPU LB ended up as a 5.5 tackle per game DB at Texas Tech.

Pat Coleman

Owen Schmitt went from fullback at UW-River Falls to West Virginia. (Oh, and the Seattle Seahawks.)

MHB plays old school football like what I saw when I was growing up in West Texas watching (and then playing against) Odessa Permian.  They line up run the ball down your throat and play defense with a swarming style where 5-6 players are going to hit the man with the ball.
They don't use finesse and throw the ball all over the field.  The O-line is going to be physical and make their blocks and expected to put their man on the ground or drive them 5 yards off the line of scrimmage.  Nothing fancy just we can execute better than you can.
Dirty isn't the appropriate word, getting down in the dirt and playing hard nose football is more like it.

I can go with that phrasing, and its the type of football I like to watch.

On another note, The Temple Daily Telegram has an article about LiDarrall Bailey that gives some good info on the QB.  Apparently he was a 3 sport stud in high school.  Its a good read here is the link:

Mississippi College had a linebacker named Alex Lincoln who left and became the leading tackler for Auburn, and was drafted by the 49ers in the 7th round. I know he was our second leading tackler as a freshman in 1996, and I think was our leading tackler in 1997 before he left.

He's now the general manager of Athletes' Performance Florida, located in Gulf Breeze, FL, on a Baptist Healthcare campus adjoining the Dr. James Andrew's Institute.
