The Southern Baptists have ETBU, HPU, UMHB, HSU and Baylor.

The difference between the Methodists, the Presbyterians and the Baptists is that the Methodists and the Presbyterians will say hello to you in a casino!   :)

1st - I'd say "Texas Baptists have..." rather than "Southern Baptists have..."  there is a significant difference these days.

2nd -  You missed Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Dallas Baptist, and Houston Baptist on your list of Baptist schools (There's also San Marcos Baptist Academy - a 7th - 12th grade private school)

3rd -  I've always heard the difference as "Methodists greet  each other in the liquor store." ;D
Thanks for the corrections.  That is probably more accurate.  By the way, how many Baptist theological seminaries are there in the state now?  Four?  Waco, Abilene, Ft Worth and Dallas?

I have always heard that if a town is big enough to have one Baptist Church, it is big enough to have 2 Baptist Churches.

However, those northern Baptists are another breed!

Baptist Seminaries?  There is one Southern Baptist Seminary, Southwestern in Ft Worth, there are technically 3 Texas Baptist Seminaries: Logsdon in Abilene, Truett in Waco and  BH Carroll, which is currently not accredited and is focused on distance ed (there is also a Logsdon campus in Corpus Christi that is a degree granting institution in the Logsdon family), and there is one Baptist Missionary Alliance Seminary in Jacksonville.  That's all of the Baptist Seminaries I know of in Texas.  Of course there are also Presbyterian and Christian church Seminaries and graduate religion programs in the Universities as well.

As far as big enough for 1, big enough for 2... Abilene is definitely proof of that.  Actually Haskell is a better example, there are 3 baptist churches there.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I gave you an "applaud" for that one!!!   :o

Ok call me crazy (my wife sure does) but I had some spare time and I just wanted to see what would happen if there was a D3 equivalent to the BCS and here are my results. I used a three part format with the D3football.com poll, the AFCA poll, and then for computer rankings I used Born Power Index, Laz Index, Atomic Football, and Massey.

I realize the format is messed up but I can't figure out how to attach a picture or excel spreadsheet.

It appears that Linfield has given up quite a few points this year.  If UMHB can run the ball and control the clock, I think they have a great chance.  Every sack and turnover will be huge.  Also, Munoz has to kick better.

Bill McCabe

Interesting that UMHB and Linfield have 2 common opponents.  Should be a good game.  Is the game going to be streamed on the internet?

What's up with Munoz this season?  THere's always plenty of length but the accuracy has gone south.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
