hey ralph turner have you heard anything about mumme going back to tarelton? a coach that wanted my grandson to go to east baptist told us that he heard a few months ago that he might go back?

crufootball

That would be a real shame if Coach Mumme left already, he brings another top caliber coach to the ASC.

On another note for UMHB fans and fans of teams playing against UMHB I noticed something that I thought might be of interest. The live stats feature of the new Cruathletics website now works on some cell phones. I say some because it now works on my cell phone which is a blackberry so I fiugre it works on all or most smart phones. The live audio still does not work, for me anyway, but live stats is better than nothing.

As long as Coach Mumme is at McM we will always face these rumors and possibilities of him leaving.  I know he likes it here and wants to stay, that doesn't mean the lure of his alma mater won't supercede that.

As far as I know he has no plans of leaving.  Talks with him today were all about the future and planning events for the summer. Hopefully it will stay that way.

No, I have heard nothing.

Here is the latest from my source in Abilene...

Mumme has been in quiet talks with Tarleton, but now there is word that he has been in quiet preliminary talks with Angelo St. as well.

You have blinders on if you think that Mumme took the McM job thinking it was going to be a long term committment.  He is using it as a stepping stone to get back into a higher level.  I get it that some smaller schools who have not had a lot of success on the field will hire someone like a Mumme to build the brand and attract kids, but its not a long term fix because coaches like Mumme have no desire to stay in a D3 situation.

I know it sounds harsh, but its reality.

First of all I never said that I did not think Mumme would ever leave.  I know you are reliable and I am not saying your sources are not true.  However I feel very confident after conversations with members of the coaching staff that Coach Mumme is not going to Tarleton or Angelo.

If I am proved to be wrong I will come on this board and apologize.

Well I am going to say this and hopefully this will end this rumor mill for good. I can promise you that coach mumme is not going to TSU. Not interested.  Furthermore, The source that says that he is in talks with them has to be from the north side of town, because it is with out a doubt false. If he does, go to tsu (which I know for a fact he is not), I will come on here and tell you I was wrong and who I am.

Your right, as long as Hal is here people are always going to say he is going here or there. I can tell you from experiences with him, that he does in fact love abilene.  Plus San Angelo is not even open.

So, what else can we talk about?

Hayden Fox

I am not here to say that any of you are wrong.  I am just telling you what I am hearing.

Big Indian -- What makes you blame "the north side of town"? btyntall said the person who shared the info wanted his grandson to go to East Texas.
You must be directionally challenged. Unless you meant the north side of Marshall.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Dude Read more posts, I am talking about fox post saying his source in abilene.......

Dude -- Read your own post. You did not specify to which post you were responding. And you still did not answer the question. Why blame "the north side"?

I HEARD MCMURRY GOT SOME GOOD TALENT THIS YEAR FOR FOOTBALL. MAYBE WE WILL GET BACK TO WINNING YEARS WITH MUMME? DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NEW RECRUITS?

One way that I have found to get news on new recruits is to go to Google alerts. There, you can type the words in you want to search for. If something on the net pops up, it will sned you a notification.

I have typed in UMHB Crusader Football. It sends me an alert about any article out on the web that deals with this subject. When new recruits sign, their local paper usually covers it and Google will find it. It has worked really well.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Read some sad news today about AJ Raebel, a All-American linebacker from UW-W from 2004-2007. He is battling cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, this has been going on for over a month and seems to be working which is obviously very good news.

AJ is writing about all of this on a blog which you can read at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ajraebel/journal. You can also read more of the story at http://www.uwwsports.com/news/2010/1/12/FB_0112102556.aspx?path=football.

In one post I was happy to see that some UMHB players and coaches have already contacted AJ. AJ also made some nice comments about UMHB saying they were some of the hardest hitting football players he had ever faced and said " I'm sure this might start an uproar, but I think had they made it to the National Championship in 06' they might have won.

My thoughts and prayers go out to AJ and his family and I hope we can read about more good news in coming weeks.
