The UMHB defense was not on cue this week. It really is frustrating. Our secondary is  young, and that played a lot into it. They will have to mature quickly or Saturaday night will be long and exhausting. LB was NOT good. I don't understand it. Why can UMHB never have a quality QB. It seems as though we have always been one demensional. I love LB and think he can do the job, but we are going to need to have a much higher quality of play if we want to win Saturday.

I agree, quarterback and defensive back play will determine whether we can compete against HSU or not!

One other observation:  While I recognize we deserved some of the penalties UMHB received; the refs missed it on at least three calls.  A no call on McM clip, a missed call on a UMHB clip and a no call on a McM hit out of bounds.  At least two of these were followed by McM touchdowns.  I've coached and refereed, so I'm not just an unhappy fan!

PRICELESS! I LOVE IT!

A possible return to glory this week.  I know it is only one year but the tides could be coming back in for HSU in this conference.  Things could be going back to normal!!!!

Seems and ARE, those are too different things. I know we aren't because of what I have said repeatedly about LB's week one performance. I know our bread and butter is the run, and that is fine, but at this point, with our success, we need to find that second threat and have it be something we can count on. That's all I'm saying. I'm looking for stability, we are that type of program now, and we need to perform.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Seems and are are different, but I'm not sure expecting that degree of sentence parsing should be expected on the board, and in the context you used seems it seems you are suggesting UMHB has at times been one dimensional.  Well, frankly, they have, so that's not a bad suggestion.  For the most part it has not been an issue, but it has bit the Cru a few times (see MC last year).  Still, I understood your point. It wasn't why does umhb run run run, but why can't the qb's throw effectively when needed.  I think its because the cru doesn't throw enough to develop a rhythm, and without that rhythm UMHB becomes effectively one dimensional.

Great game this weekend ASC fans...As a DIII fan i'm looking forward on seeing the outcome. I wish I could be in Belton for this one...

HSCoach from the OAC board is giving UMHB 6.5 points in the Pick 'em league, even though their at home. tough to do sense UMHB hasn't lost a home regular-season game sense 2006....however, HSU looks good this year with a healthy Feaster.

It is good to see you WIAC fans on our part of the board.  +k

I was listening to the Hal Mumme Show today and Mumme's pick for the HSU-UMHB game was HSU.  He said it would probably make him look good to pick UMHB but he was going with HSU.

A shocking reminder to both UMHB and HSU, though the rivalry runs deep, it is still only one game.  Conference play will continue, and the rest of the board will be glad to talk about something other than us! From recent posts their is an assumption that our team will go through the game unscathed.  Unfortunately, turnovers, penalties, and injuries play a big part of every college football game for both teams.  In our mid-week utopian discussion we envision a  perfect game.  Then comes kickoff and reality will set in!  I am holding my judgements until Saturday, not on Monday.  We will see on Saturday in the post game evaluations, and obviously the posts.  I have always believed that every year I would love to see HSU and UMHB best-on-best. I look forward to more of the same this week.  I pray that both teams play hard, play their best, and the best team wins.  Period.  I am not cocky, nor arrogant enough to think that this will be a game that either team will win going away. (It is in Belton, and I don't see either team giving an inch). I certainly understand  it is a rivalry game, more than just a regular season meeting.  Throw your statics in the trash, both teams will play each play with heart, and instinct, not merely percentages.

As per every year, at the conclusion of the game I will tip my hat to the winner, and wish the loser my best for next week.  Some may call me old fashion, I prefer to be class act over trash talker any day of the week.  I have heard, "HSU will throw deep against these young defensive backs," true.  UMHB, "will need to throw the ball to keep us in the game," true. It should be fun to see which team will execute this weekend! :o

The game will be played by gentlemen other than us.  We will type, and talk, they will work, practice and then play. We will show our passion all week long, by rooting, screaming, yelling, at the game, and at our computers come Saturday.  :D That is what I love about this game.  No brotherly love (Two Baptist Schools for those who do not know), and share the same name with both schools deeply indebted to the Hardin family.  Should be fun, the Cru vs. the Cowboys, I can't wait. J

Could we just play tomorrow?  I'm in! ;)
