I do not want to look up the stats.  I want an eye witness POV.

How does UMHB pass now?

Did Feaster have the time he needed despite trailing?

How is Quincy running (health)?

Thanks.

I was at the game and will say that UMHB's passing attack wasn't great but was vastly improved over last week.  Noak was 4 of 5, but the 1 incompletion was an int that missed the mark by a big margin.  Bailey was something like 4 of 15, but he went down field enough to keep HSU honest, he threw to multiple receivers, and he threw more than just long fade routes.  I liked what I saw from the passing game, and I think that as time goes on Bailey will become more of a threat.

Feaster had the time he needed for the most part, but he was under pressure a lot.

Quincy ran the ball well.  he had 96 net yards rushing, but Darius Wilson ran the ball ridiculously well.  He went off for 190 yards.  and Bailey rushed for 137 or something close.  Of course I think I could have run through some of the holes opened by the Oline.

One thing that stood out to me was the way that HSU was able to stop Willamette's rushing. I don't have the stats, but their D looked formidable against the run that night, stopping a lot of guys at the line or for loss. I did not see that last night. Our O-line came out to play and put a woopin on the D-line for HSU.

The first play of the game for the Cru set the tone. That pass play said, we have come to play tonight and you better be ready. That was a huge boost for morale. Obviously, it can only get better from here and I look for the Cru to get sharper on both sides of the ball.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Toby,
I agree with the Cru needing to throw the ball some, but they don't have to be deep throws and fades.  They were successful with quick passes.  They way they run the ball, play action should be very effective.  UMHB has always been successful with a run first mentality.  Last night we drove inside the HSU 30 out of the I and then for some unknown reason we got in the pistol and the drive stalled.  The RBs are very talented and we should ride them as much as possible.  It also makes Bailey much more effective.
I'll agree with that for the most part, but when you have towers on either side you want to see a shot or two don't you.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

A shot or 2 would be fine, but we haven't been real successful with the passing game.  We have a better chance on 3rd and 5 making it with the run than with the pass.

All a fluke and you know it...HSU is the best team in this conference and you know it. Umhb can't handle the Cowboys son!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

I bet the HSU front is pretty sore today after allowing over 400 yard rushing.

As for the McMurry game I imagine UMHB wasnt very focused, not negating McMurry. But I bet the players at UMHB still think McMurry is the same old program. IMHO

ETBU and McMurry was a great defensive ball game!  Both defenses were flying around.  ETBU held McMurry to under 300 yards of offense and really only 2 TD drives.  The TD right before the half was more on the ETBU offense than the ETBU defense.  What a great response by the ETBU offense late in the 4th quarter.  Held a lead the entire game only to have it taken with 5+ minutes left.  Instead of folding they came thru in the crunch with a well executed 2 min drill to get the W.

Thanks for the info.  Defensive battles are always fun to watch for me.  What worked for the ETBU defense

HSU vs UMHB attendance was announced at 7698. Great crowd. Great game. Big win for the CRU.

I look forward to UMHB's visit to Pineville on Saturday. I have some mixed emotions about the game on Saturday. I am a graduate of UMHB and have followed the CRU since football started, but my son now plays at LC and I know several of the players. So, I still root for UMHB until they tee it up against Wildcats.

I'm realistic, the Cats are big underdogs coming into the game, I'm just hoping for a good showing. LC has its work cut out for it, but the Wildcats will pull out all the stops and do their best to hang with the CRU. LC does have some weapons on offense, but the defense has struggled.

The LC defense played decent in the first half against MC, but second half turnovers kept the Wildcat D on the field way too much. The Cats will have to protect the ball if they want to stay in ball game with the CRU.

Kelly,

Thank you for the information. My Aunt teaches in the Education department at LC, and my grandfather attended in the 1950's.  Great school, and your football venue is one of the most impressive in all of the D3. (IMO)  Also, Dr. Joe Aguillard has been a family friend for many years. It should be a great game on Saturday, and I wish the best for your son.

Did some research and found I have family that has attended or currently teach at 4 ASC schools.  Anyone have similar findings?

My ASC Connections:

My Mom-graduated from ETBC (now ETBU)
My grandfather, cousin-LC
Aunt-Teaches at LC
Distant relative on my grandfather's side-former president of HSU
My wife, my sister, and myself-UMHB

It is always fun on any given Saturday in my family when it comes to the ASC. :D

Open mouth, Insert foot!!!  Oh well thats how it goes and has gone for a long time.

I was completely dissappointed when I saw at halftime players for HSU WALKING off the field.  We would have had our @$$ chewed and handed to us for that when I played.  Heads were down and HSU was defeated in the first half.  With attitudes like that Keeling can ask you to play hard 21 points up or down, but it will never happen.  That is not the Cowboy football that has been played in the past.  And I understand hats off to the past and sleeves up to the future, but sometimes you need to remember the past so the samething doesnt happen again.  I have nothing but the highest respect for the coaching staff at HSU but these players gotta get this straight. Coaches can't play and players can't coach.  come on guys, time to get to work.  Style points count now.

I have it on good authority that someone sent some flowers to Anderson Field House in a funeral arrangement. The card read, " Enjoy these before you wilt on Saturday."

If you sent those flowers and are reading this, THE FLOWERS ARE STILL BLOOMING!

Huge statement game for the Cru. Great game on both sides. The RB for the Cru, #1, he is a stud and will be around for two more years. Took over in the fourth. We still have some work to do, but a momentous win indeed.

I seriously doubt that ANYONE from HSU sent flowers with that implied note. That is not in the character of this program or of its fan base. If however it was used as MOTIVATION to play hard seems as though that work. Great game by the CRU. Well deserved win.

Watched the MCM game and they looked terrible. Absolutely no running game and the running back for MCM too small, can't block, and can"t run, give me a break. If someone else was in there Mullins wouldn"t have to scramble half the time because the running back would block for him, but not when your 5'6 160 punds. Coach Mumme should hopefully see this and make some adjustment.
