As my dearly beloved late father taught me, it is always good to beat Horrid Pain...   ;)

Anyone know what QD didnt play?

Kelly Boggs

Temple paper said QD did not play due to recurring hip and ankle problems.

they said on the radio he had a hip pointer during the week.  While I love watching QD run, I also like seeing the next few bullets in the chamber.

I spoke to QD after the game. The CRU used him heavily in the previous victories even though he is a litte banged up. CRU staff decided to rest him for this game.

Hats off to LC; what a game!  I had Mrs Parker calling me at the Boston Logan Airport.  Seems much of the conference is getting more competitive, which is good for our national exposure, but tougher for UMHB each game.  We better practice defense hard all week!  MC has some guns, too!

Hats off to Hardin Simmons for a very impressive 2nd half against ETBU.  21-17 at halftime in a 1st half that could have been much better for ETBU.  2nd half HSU comes out scores on first drive, ETBU misses a short FG and it was all downhill from there.

Wooh, The Cru barely snuck by.  I don't ever remember LC being that good when I played.  Great job by those coaches getting some good players and having them prepared to play.  The Cru better get there heads on straight and be ready for every opponent.  They have had some close ones that could have easily ended up in losses for them.
If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

btyndall

could it be that mhs is just not that good this year. they got by mcm, which they should have lost, and lc which again they should have lost. its going to a tight race especially if hs gets beat, which i think they will. again mcm look very strong. they have the best defense in the league, so i think hs will have a tough time with them.

crufootball

It depends on what you mean by not that good btyndall because at the end of the day they are 4-0 and already beat HSU which for most seasons is the best team on their schedule. They definitely are not playing consistently since they are giving up 29 points a game which would be the worst season ever for the Cru other than their first season (29.7).

One a positive note, currently their 2nd worst season in terms of points per game is 2004 at 22.5 and I think all the UMHB faithful could handle another season like that  ;)

btyndall

Sorry Cru, for some reason, bite my tongue I thought that HSU beat MHB. I am so sorry.

crufootball

No problem btyndall, your points are valid as the Cru are not playing like they normally do. The ASC seems to be much more competitive than in years past, hard to believe MC is 0-2 and TLU is 2-1 but I know the competition has been a little bit different.

I am a UMHB grad but my son plays football at Louisiana College, so I still follow the CRU but when the Purple CRUsh tees it up against the Wildcats, my loyalty is all orange and blue. That said, while I would say that LC could have beaten UMHB Saturday, I would not say they should have beaten the CRU.

The fourth quarter was vintage UMHB football - a hard nosed, smash-mouth running game. From the outset the LC game plan was to force UMHB to throw the ball and the CRU responded and hit some big pass plays.  I would say it was one of the best passing games UMHB has had in a while. Special teams also got in on the act with a kickoff return - nothing new for the CRU.

LC has improved and is improving. They are a good team and proved it Saturday by playing toe-to-toe with UMHB. The Wildcats played a great game and I am very proud of all the coaches and players. If the effort and intensity keeps up LC can win all of the games left on the schedule.

UMHB made plays when it needed to and the biggest of all was the interception in the end zone at the end of the game to preserve the win. All in all the game was great to watch and it was one of those that was a shame that one team had to lose.

LC is playing quite a few sophomores and has some talented freshman playing on the JV, one in particular - a QB with all kinds of potential. If he stays healthy, I predict he will not only eventually be all-conference (maybe more) but will lead the Wildcats to serious challenge for the conference title in the future.

Another nail biter this week for the Cru. I'm glad to see that teams are beginning to get stronger. Great showing for the ASC. My one question, though, is at what point does UMHB change their philosophy and begin playing an actual two deep coverage against these passing teams. We can't expect to have the same opportunities every week. We've got to adjust.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!
