Crukid, When I was playing for UMHB the defense was running a 4-2-5.  Is the same true?  I thought that was a very good defense to defend both pass and run.  Granted we had some very good athletes at that time and that always makes things look better.
If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

CruGuy

On the two deep the always list 2 DT's, 2 DE's, 3 LB (M,S,W), 2 CB's, a FS, and a cruback (UMHB's designation for the strong safety). It looks like a classic 4-3 on paper and most of the time when I watch (granted I don't get to watch much) it looks like a 4-3 on the feild. The only game I've seen this year is MC, and it seemed to me that a nickel, or 3 man front would have made a tremendous difference. However, late in the game, UMHB lined up in a three man front on third and long and MC converted.

CruAlum58

CruAlum55 you know UMHB still plays the "80" front they have always played. I dont know what the problems in the back end are but we both know the coaches are working hard to get it fixed. It is always easier to go to work and fix things if you continue to win. Ill take the wins and championship rings.

One obvious thing is the teams they are playing in the ASC have gotten better and perhaps the Cru D is a little off.  Still, they are playing well enough to be undefeated and the defense has come up with some big plays this year.

LC starts its long trek to Alpine, for Saturday's game with Sul Ross, today. Road trip! Safe travels to the Wildcats and make the long trip home seem shorter by coming home with a "W."

Gotta give a lot of credit to the Lobo's for making it through a season without going crazy. This year they must consider themselves lucky with only 4 away games but those consists of two 5 hour trip, one 10 hour trip, and a 14 hour trip and that is only one way.

I got you crualum58.  Same ole, same ole.  Well you know the big dog will step in help plan when the playoffs come around and they will have some schemes ready to go.

I want to congratulate 1985 McMurry Grad Chuck Fallon, who was named the 2010 McMurry University Distinguished Alumnus.

Excerpts
QuoteMcMurry University will honor Chuck Fallon, a 1985 McMurry graduate and President of Burger King North America, as the 2010 McMurry Distinguished Alumnus ,...

Fallon holds a degree in accounting and finance from McMurry and an MBA from Columbia University.

While he was at McMurry, he was the recipient of the NAIA's A. O. Duer Award, which honors a junior male or female athlete who has excelled character, playing and scholarship.  One might consider this an "all-sports Josten's Award" or "Gagliardi", but given by the NCAA, itself

A 2006 press release from the NAIA web site listed the qualifications in this manner

Quote... The award is presented annually to a junior men's and women's student-athlete in any sport who has excelled in character, playing ability and scholarship. Since 1967, the Duer Award has been presented in honor of the late former NAIA executive director Al Duer who was responsible for the NAIA's role as the first collegiate organization to be fully integrated.

Kot and Kattke were selected by the NAIA Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives from a field of nominees from NAIA member institutions. Candidates must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.00 scale.  ...

Ralph,  Any relation to Frank Fallon, the longtime Baylor announcer?

He has never mentioned it.  His father owned an auto parts shop in Irving.  Chuck attended Irving MacArthur.

Chuck is a very humble, likable man who can relate to anyone.

When talking with Chuck, you have his undivided attention.  He sincerely cares about those he meets, and works with. I can understand how he can inspire the local franchisees to bigger and better things.

Isn't it fun!

Rangers (Senators) beat the Yankees to go to the World Series.

Where is Joe Hardy?

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Aren't the Rangers *still* paying part of that idiot's salary?  Perfect ending ... at least until the WS.

Ron, as a long time ranger fan, everything since the end of the season has been bonus.
