My grandson is here!!! Jackson Bret Page was born at 12:28pm today. Obviously he will be a lineman.  He weighed 10 lbs 7 ozs and was 21 3/4" long. Mother and baby are doing great and the father is beaming!  Granddad is pretty happy as well. ;D ;D
How exciting!  Congrats to you, Gandpa, your son and your wonderful family!  WOW, a very big boy.  I just got a new Grandnephew and he weighed in at a measly 6 lbs, 9 ozs.  Guess he will be a kicker.   ;) :D ;D

Landed Feaster as in you won the recruiting war or convinced him to transfer? I only ask because a monkey could talk an 18 year old out of playing for a team who has the coaches kid as the starting QB...with (at the time) another one potentially on the way.

Rat,

I'm sure you're right a "monkey" could convince a kid who is playing behind the coaches son.... However HSU has been on the business end of many of these transfer "for a number of reasons" type young men. I was simply responding to your original comment about will MCM's move affect HSU's access to talent. NO.

Congrats ROOCRU on the new addition. Love the name Jackson as well. Should be a Merry Chirstmas for you this year, although i'm not sure you'll be experiencing the "silent night".

You can probably ask Trinity in SA how their program has been since a few schools brought on scholarship football in that area.... In my opinion it will affect HSU recruiting.

HSU loses a few more coaches.

Congrats roocru...great!  Grandkids are wonderful!

I see the departure of Wartes/Niemann as pretty SOP for when a new head coach takes over.

As to the McM scholarships having an affect on HSU's recruiting.  Probably some...but I don't think a whole lot.  Reasons:  Many students (including athletes) go to a particular school because they "like" the school...and their friends go there.  Others go there for "religious" reasons.  (In this case, West Texas has a lot of Baptists...go figure.)  Also, HSU has "coaching contacts" at many high schools...this will continue to help tremendously.  And...I think many D III level players will continue to choose HSU...because they will "get to play!"  Sure, a few might choose a scholarship...which is very important...with the costs so high....but I figure HSU will still be able to compete, successfully, in the D III.  Bottom line...HSU will remain a "college of choice!"  It's a great University!!!

The one thing I haven't heard yet is where McMurry leaving will put the ASC. Will someone else join in or what?

The ASC will have enough teams to maintain the AQ.

As for UMHB, were they D-II/NAIA dual members before they moved to D-III in the ASC?
