Does anyone know how much land Concordia has that they have not developed? The reason I ask is I know they are bordered by a nature preserve which I think is there land but not sure if they can use it for anything other than research.

Edit: Never mind just found this on their website which includes a 30 year master plan including a football field.

I'm siding with ETBU27 on this one. McMurry will be good this year and i expect an improvement. However SFA and UTSA is the equivalent of McM playing the prisoners at the middleton and robertson TDCJ units outside of town. I am expecting at least a few on the injured list after games 1 and 2. Go get"em Hal.

IMHO McMurry will be playing with 10 men come conference time. SFA and UTSA will do nothing for them other than get them injured and embarrassed. They havent even been a decent D-3 team until last year and even then they weren't all that impressive. HOWEVER I think it is great for Division 3 for them to play these games. (Even if they are doing it to show their D-II intentions.)

HSU held their "spring game" of 7-on-7 & yearly lineman challenge this week. Here's a link to the article & a highlight video from the event. Worlds Strongest Man Competitor Travis Ortmayer from Houston,TX was on hand to help with the lineman challenge.

So fellas, Ive been reading around about re-alignments and provisional D-III schools all over the place? Aside from the obvious (McM and Centenary...which currently does not have football) do you see the ASC changing any?

My bets are on UMHB going up and Centenary adding football.
Id also like to see Sul Ross ousted...horrible trip for a mismatch team/school.

Replacing UMHB with Centenary is fine but who replaces Sul Ross if they do get the boot? Hypothetically speaking of course. Austin College again? Millsaps? SAGU?

Dont hate me Im playing devil's advocate here, stirring up thought conversations. Change is on the horizon so.....

Why would UMHB want to move up?  Things are working pretty good where they are now.

1) Very jealous of HPU
2) Concordia TX's master plan looks impressive. (There are quite a few planned residence halls......;])
3) UMHB may not be heading upwards, it is true that they are doing well (proof in the number of NCAA appearances). But IMO success brings better opportunities and MHB definitely doesnt lack success.

Success is not defined by the division level.  UMHB is in a conference with like minded institutions.  D2 would bring a whole different atmosphere and I'm not sure that is in the best interest of UMHB as an institution.

Been a long time, guys--hope everyone is well.

Bill, I don't know if UMHB has plans to move up or not, but by the looks of the architectural renderings for the on-campus stadium they're planning to build soon, it wouldn't surprise me if it hasn't been discussed.

That facility is impressive looking--much more so than what I'd expect a DIII stadium project to look like.

Gotta go--you guys all take care.

I agree with Josh...its not that Im saying that they dont fit the conference well (they are perfect) and its not like they arent happy with D-3 success. But some of the plans lead me to believe they are reaching upward potentially. (as Concordia TX's plans also insinuate.)

Hey stagnant board!
What are yalls thoughts on the potential shakeups in the SCAC?? Could it affect us? If so how?

Once again, guys; UMHB will not consider D II !!!  D III fits the philosophy of the campus well; and UMHB has no wish to begin playing a bunch of D II state schools who are many times its size. :)

HSU just posted a video highlight of the football team's offseason program. There's alot of guys pushing some big weight. HSU's Derrick Grant squatted 600lbs at a body weight of 176. Pretty impressive stuff.
