Texas Lutheran wins again...

Next up McMurry at TLU...GO BULLDOGS!!!
I wish y'all had beaten Trinity!

I bet you do.   :P

Eric Drennan reports in the Temple Daily Telegram that the coach from Mississippi College had agreed last year, when UMHB scheduled its game at 1:00 p.m., to play Saturday's game at 1:00 p.m.  It seems the MC coach is going back on his word and has scheduled the game time for 6:00 p.m.  Unnecessary late night long bus ride home for UMHB!  I expect the players to be a bit upset and will vent their anger on the Chocktaws.  Look for UMHB to schedule MC as its homecoming game next year and play at 6:00 p.m.!
Another big test for the Crusaders, among more to come in a much more balanced conference!

Just read that article. Coach sounds a little upset. I hope some of that energy explodes on MC this weekend.
here's a link to the article: http://tdtnews.com/index/sports/show/78984
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Hey Ralph...

At first I took offense to this comment.  But then I understood that if TLU had beaten Trinity, it would strengthen the resumes of ASC schools.  While I am always loyal to McM and I am trying to build loyalty to TU.  So yes I am conflicted and confused.

Now, now. In the Christian spirit we should put forth the olive branch. ;D  Schedule the game at 7:30!!!!  Do they sign contracts for these games or are they approved by the conference office?

I think that the Reverend Toby Taff can help you with these conflicts. ;)

I don't think that you are at the severity of the disease to require medication.

At least at Trinity, when you bleed maroon, they won't know how much of that maroon comes from your McMurry DNA. :)

Any town (and conference) big enough to have one Baptist Church (and college) is big enough to have two.   ;D

LOL @ the things coaches do to attempt to get into the other teams heads. Be courteous and continue having the games at 1:00 pm like usual. No sense in this. Those busrides are long and tiring anyways...

Does the 6pm kickoff mean that UMHB has to sit around the motel room another 5 hours before game time?

I assume that they will travel to Mississippi on Friday.

Ron Boerger

Don't look now, folks, but there's a 50-50 chance of rain on Saturday/Saturday night*.  Given how long it's been since these kids have had to play in wet conditions, it could make for some interesting games.

* - that is, if you trust a 96-hour forecast these days

DavidNichols

A note from the MC side about the start time of the game on Saturday between MC and UMHB.  In the American Southwest Conference 2011-12 Handbook the Football Operating Code states:

2.2 - Game Time:  The host team will determine game start times through the second Saturday in October.  Starting the third Saturday in October, game start times will be 1:00 p.m. or an alternate time by mutual agreement.
2.2.1 - Exception:  Institutions conducting Homecoming on or after the third Saturday in October shall be permitted to establish the game start time no later than 6:00 p.m.

I have not heard anything (either way) about an agreement last year to play at 1:00 p.m. this season.  According to the rules, the decision is justified.

Hardin-Simmons did not have a lot to say about the 6:00 p.m. start time.  They have to travel at least far, if not further.

I agree that the bus rides are terrible in this conference, but who has longer trips than Mississippi College or Sul Ross State.

Another request I would like to make is that everyone please spell the MC mascot correctly.  It is "Choctaws".  There is no "k".

Looking at the actual game, I know that the players for UMHB will not even remotely let this get into their heads.  They have been the standard by which the rest of the ASC teams have been measured since they entered the conference.  They do not need a late start time as motivation.

Jerry Bawcom

You are correct about the rule.  However, when coaches have previously agreed on playing earlier, the agreement should be upheld.
By the way for you Methodists, this was a "gentlemans thing, not a Baptist thing."  HA!

Nevertheless, you are correct again; this won't likely be in the Cru players heads at all................

I'm going to be in Lubbock this Saturday =for the Tech-A&M game and the 75th reunion for Saddle Tramps (and keeping track of the CRU-Choctaw game by phone); I wouldn't mind a little rain either!!!

Sounds like a "He-Said/He-Said" situation.

Ralph - no doubt UMHB will travel on Friday to MC.  I think the irritation is due to the return trip after the game and arriving in Belton in the early hours of Sunday morning.
