Rumors are circulating again about MHB moving up to D2. Not sure if its just wishes or has any validity. With ACU and IWU moving to D1 FCS, the LSC is looking to add teams. The talk is adding MHB and McMurry. Anybody else hearing anything?

It is my very limited opinion that UMHB has NOT added such things as a track to their new stadium, has not allowed the formation of a running/ track program, and has not created some other sport requirements for DII because they have no desire to move up. But as I say, I have limited knowledge of such things.

The new stadium is slowly rising from the ground! Very exciting!!

What is the projected finish date?

They plan for this season to be the last at Belton High School's Tiger Stadium. As far as a date, if you've seen the time in which projects have been completed recently, it could be 10 minutes to kickoff before the final piece of sod is laid.

Is track a requirement in Division II? I'm not aware.

Anyone who meets the D-III sport sponsorship minimums should have no trouble meeting the D-II sport sponsorship minimums. It's the scholarship money that is generally the issue.

The Austin American Statesman has an article on Cru Alumnus Nate Menkin of the Houston Texans. Ypu can read it here: http://m.statesman.com/statesman/db_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=gPRz31ix&full=true#display
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

This is only what I have heard, again, I may be way off. I really don't get the feeling that TPTB want UMHB to be D2.

I know he has a long way to go but UMHB's Nate Menkin survived the Texans cut to 75.

Don't forget to play the ASC Pick-em game starting this week!  Rules and information are on the ASC portion of the Pick-em board in the General Board portion of Post Patterns.  We have three people playing so far and two are not from the ASC teams.  Let's get on board and make it interesting.

There is a Thursday night game this week so if you wait and enter your picks Friday, you will have to forfeit that game.

Out of curiosity, how does the traveling logistics work in the ASC?

I would think most schools would have to fly just to play conference football game.

This would be a Ralph Turner (sniff!) question but I'm pretty sure the bulk of ASC travel is via bus.  The schools, by and large, aren't close enough to major airports to make this work, so they'd all be hopping on commuter planes and switching in Dallas, and the cost of all those flights would be prohibitive.   The trips to way-out-west Sul Ross have drawn many comments over the years.

So the players do indeed take bus trips for all their games. Wow. I will never again complain about traveling a few hours to see Whitewater play a road game.

Yes, almost all are bus trips and for proper perspective the bus trip from HSU is over 300 miles and HSU is as far west the ASC goes

A quote from the Colts News info:
QuoteJerrell Freeman, a first year NFL pro from Mary Hardin-Baylor and with three years in the CFL with Saskatchewan, is subbing for Angerer, and he is thriving in the process.  Freeman has been around enough that the instruction to stop the run is ingrained.

"Coach Pagano will be the first guy to tell you what we're going to do is stop the run and run the ball on offense," said Freeman.  "It's definitely a priority for us.  There's a lot of things we can build on.  All the stuff that happened is fixable stuff.  We'll be alright in the long run."

I think Freeman is familiar with the run stop/ run run run plan. He's seen it somewhere before
