My twin brother in Abilene keeps me up on HSU.  With the losses only to ranked teams, HSU looks good on paper and has shown so in action, so this should be a typical UMHB-HSU hard fought game.
Mrs Parker, former first lady is staying the weekend with us to be here for homecoming.  She will be front and center in the president's box.  Mrs B and I will be in the stands with the fans!!!  Go Cru!
Give Mrs. Parker our best. I wish I could be there, but I'll be watching while I can before the wedding.
It should be on local radio.  You can put on an earbud from your I-phone and the people may think that it is actually a feedback speaker connected to the PA system and the lapel microphone.   :D

I won't tell anyone if you do.   ;)

Here we go Cru. I imagine it will be a healthy blowout and continue to show who is the dominate team in the conference.

14-10 UMHB at half.

2 missed FIeld Goals so far for the Cru and one was a very bad miss. Windy day but we have to make FG's.

Offense looks sluggish and not any real big plays so far. I look for the Cru to come out swinging in the 2nd half

CruAlum58

I watched online. HSU really came to play today. UMHB did enough and had enough big plays to come out with the 11th on a row.

HSU quarterback and receivers were really good today.  Cudos to the Cowboys.  Their line got away with several critical holds.  But the CRU made the plays and points when the game was on the line.  Way to come through CRU!  Whitewater goes down again; guess that puts them out of the playoffs???

Well, it was a crazy close game today. I knew it would be a close one. Rivalry games like this always are, as they should be. I like it that way, and after fairly safe wins for the past few weeks, it was good to see UMHB deal with adversity.

I'd like to see the percentage of plays we ran option today. Looked like old school UMHB, and we had some of the old school results. The wind really played havoc with our plays today, but in the end, the D showed up and did what they had to do. We finally got a sack to end the game, but man, the O-Line for HSU really played well.

Two things that need to get better: 3rd down defense and field goal kicking. Got to get better. Other than that, loved the resolve by the team as they faced a difficult time there. Way to go Cru! Next stop, Brownwood!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I have bolded what I think are the best parts of this excellent post.  I was really impressed by the HSU offense and put them on par, if not better, with Wesley and Louisiana College.  Really nice pass blocking and receivers who will go make the catch in a crowd and also have enough wiggle to make the first tackler miss.  I too appreciated the Cru's resolve!  I think this kind of game late in the season could play big dividends in the playoffs.

I wasn't meaning any disrespect by saying that we had some "old school results", I just know that in the games I've seen this year, which have been Kean, Wesley on the computer, TLU, Trinity, and now HSU, in none of those other games did I ever see as many option plays as we ran against HSU. I know the wind was crazy, and on the one pass into the endzone, the wind held it up, but the one with the wind to win the game was a great pass. I was concerned with Darius Wilson, though, as he did not look himself. The HSU line really did a great job on him. Luckily, we are deep in that area.

I'll be interested to see how the team comes out next week in Brownwood.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing Darius much, if any, the next few weeks. Something defintiely seemed to be off and he was off the field it seems as much as he was on. We are deep there as you said umhb2001 and I think we will give some of that depth work these final 3 weeks of the regular season and hope Darius can get right.

Kudos to the HSU fans who made the trip to Belton by the way. You guys seemed louder than the homecoming crowd of UMHB and it wasn't until HSU took the lead that the crowd woke up.

Toby Taff

I was surprised that the HSU crowd was as small as it was until someone reminded me today that HSU had fall break this weekend so everyone was gone.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Jerry Bawcom

Yes, HSU was a nice and really vocal crowd!  I'm sure the players appreciated their support.  We remember going home from Abilene after losses to HSU, so I recall how that feels!
But, it seems HSU, like Whitewater will be out of the playoffs after their losses.  I also thought that the ball to the endzone that was intercepted was slowed and lifted by the wind.
I too hope Wilson gets some more recoup time the next three weeks and agree that we have some really good backups in that position.  We may be playing a down HPU team, but
I remember a time we did this before and HPU put one in the endzone to win near the end of the game.

According to the Temple Daily Telegram, the 2013 schedule is now complete for UMHB as they filled the gap of TLU with Huntington where they will open the season on the road. After that they will go to New Jersey to play Kean and then then 3 weeks into the season they will finally get to open their stadium against Wesley. Their schedule will feature an open week for the first time in quite some time.

I strongly encourage the team to visit the Civil Rights Museum in Montgomery. It is a moving experience.

You will drive into Montgomery from Selma.  I encourage the players to read the history of the 1965 march.
