According to Twitter, former UMHB player Nate Menkin was just traded to the Texans. Hopefully he can remain healthy this year and get some playing time this year.

Very cool! I hope his neck injury is healed!

The center logo was beginning to be placed on the field yesterday. That and the home side field should be finished, today, I would expect.

He looked pretty good in the few minutes of the Eagles game he played in. Also wouldn't think the Texans would be willing to give up anything of use unless they were pretty certain that Menkin at least had a chance of helping them.

According to the article today entitled "Purple days", UMHB is looking to fill the role of QB with either Sims or Brian Gallagher.

This seems strange as I seem to remember more of Sims than of Gallagher last year. It seemed clear cut that Sins would be the starter.

Well, from what I remember, Sims threw well and Gallagher ran well. I hope they don't do the dual QB thing as that never works. Thoughts, reactions?

Quick question for you Texas guys...what kind of program does Belton HS have? Maryville roster lists a LB from that program.

I just looked for the player online and didn't see anyone from Belton, but it was last year's team.

Belton has gone through a growing trend over the last several years. A 5A program, their new coach as of about 5 years started a strong program with an open bank account. New facilities led to a strength and conditioning program that is developed from the middle school level.

The defense has been better the past couple of years, so I would say he comes from a strong program and has a good background of knowledge.

I appreciate that. You get an imaginary one too for the help.

Saw this little nugget on the Sul Ross football site:

"Over the summer, the Lobos' coaching staff was able to acquire 36 new recruits who are made up mostly from junior college transfers. "

Does anyone have a report of how the scrimmage went between UMHB and TLU?

The ASC Pick'em contest is now open.  The first week closes at 1759 hours (5:59pm) on Friday September 6th because of games.

In case anyone listens to UMHB football games on the radio, they have been moved to a new station and there will now be a weekly UMHB Coaches Show.

This makes me wonder if any other coaches do a weekly show/pod cast, I would love to hear about it if they do.

I don't know about other ASC schools, but I'm pretty sure Joe Austin at Southwestern is doing one.
