I like it, Toby!  ;D That said, I think my Tube Brother days are in the rear-view mirror. Oh, if only we had CRU football back in the day, we would have been the most formidable, fun student section in the ASC, especially in The CRUthedral. Can you imagine Phi Tuba Luba seated near the opposite team's bench? It would have been a riot.

Now that we are on the subject: I think a saw an older gentleman decked out in a get-up that featured purple tights at the LC game. Pretty wild.

Looking forward to the road trip. We will be departing from Central Louisiana around 4 pm on Friday. Four of the Boggs Bunch will be flying low and arriving in Central Texas around 9ish. Looking forward to a great time on campus and celebrating UMHB's first playoff win in The CRUthedral on Saturday.

It is already very evident that it will require great effort to stay focused on the task at hand during the playoffs. Pray for me folks!

UP with the PURPLE!
y'all have a safe trip. I think I'm leaving early Saturday morning and it'll be a day trip for me. I remember there were thoughts of recovering the Tubes my freshman year during basketball season. we all dressed up and we got smoked by 50+. That was the end of that. That said, the CouchCru is nice, but the Tubes and Cru Football would have been fantastic.

Couch Cru is not what it once was. Banging on cans, shaking huge noise makers, finding out information about the opposing team's QB, RB, or whatever and yelling it at them. Those were the days. If only it were still that way.

Facebook and twitter made this very easy to do. ;D

Being a recent graduate, my friends and I still like to get a little rowdy at the games but not anywhere close to when we were still students. I guess graduating and getting married really does change you.

The atmosphere at the games I have attended has been great. The crowd has gotten into it and been loud at critical times. I hope we have a good loud crowd on Saturday.

Wives do have a way of civilizing us, Couch, at least to a certain degree.  ;D

i find that if you practice civility n moderation, you're get used to you being "different" and are more willing to play along in public. :D

Having said that, I bought purple material for a robe and hopefully have time to complete it by Saturday.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

All of the robes and things make the CRUthedarl look so  ...  Roman Catholic!    ;)

Ralph, do you realize that what you say above may well cause a shipwreck of faith (or worse) amongst the Baptist brethren? "Robes and things," mercy!  :o

(I'm trying very hard to imagine Billy Graham preaching while wearing a clerical collar and a cassock.  :))

one of mg UMHB religion profs left to pastor University Baptist Church in Baltimore after I graduated. He preached in a robe every Sunday. It's not that unusual depending on the brand of baptist. Shoot I have two robes in the closet given to me by Baptist institutions of higher learning.  :D

Rev Graham is a Wheaton IL grad.  Now, "Thunder" makes sense for that "Crusader", altho' if Wheaton had gone PC with its nickname 50 years earlier, we might have had the "Billy Graham Thunder" for a week at a stadium or coliseum near you.

I traveled on Billy Graham Ave in Charlotte a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see any purple robes and the weather was nice, so no thunder either.  :)

Hey guys, all the time I was at Texas Wesleyan I preached in a robe!  Sure was hot sometimes!!!
My wife says she has had little effect on my continuing to "get into it" at football or basketball games. I will surely miss my horn at the playoff games!
The CRU seems to be focused on playing the Redlands as if we haven't played them before; hope it works well!
True Crusader Fan !!!

The anticipation is building here in Central Louisiana among the Boggs Bunch who will be making the trek west for the game. I'm hoping The CRUthedral will be filled with the CRU faithful clad in purple and a palpable playoff atmosphere.

Up with the Purple!

Yes, and Teeny Weeny College (TWC) was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church!   ;)

It was by Prevenient Grace that you were justified and eventually wore the robe.  Your taking the Word to UMHB was sanctifying grace.

Bill McCabe

I will be at the game with Ryan.  Looking forward to the first playoff game in the Cru-thedral.
