timtlu,

As I said: "Who knows how effective a play would have been given all the confusion. It would have been interesting had they had the opportunity to run a play. It did not happen and TLU escaped with a win."
----------------
Nothing we say here will have an affect on the game. Saturday we will learn a lot about each team.

I do know this, after the first quarter against LC The CRU played uninspired ball, committed 4 turnovers and waltzed to a 21 point win.

I expect TLU will be more than ready come Saturday. As I previously said, this is a playoff game for the Bulldogs. TLU is going to hit UMHB in the mouth. If The CRU spits out a few teeth and responds to its potential, it will an "UP with the PURPLE" kind of day.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with fellow members of The CRU Nation on Saturday. It can be the melding of the Couch CRU (most recent wild and crazies) with the Phi-Tuba-Luba (wild and crazies from the '80s). Let's get together and make some noise.

UP with the PURPLE!

You know the most recent Couch Cru crazies will be there in force! I just hope their stands have quality anchors for when the boots get to stompin! hsu didn't and had a couple planes loose last year. haha. If we get the decades of crazies there who won't just sit and be quiet, it will be a blast!

On another note, Pat is right. Teams that give up a bunch of points rarely get into the playoffs, unless they're an AQ conference. I expect it to be pretty sporty the first quarter with minimal scoring and then the CRU lines wear out the TLU guys to run away with it. Hopefully it'll be like the old days before they went to the SCAC.

What I meant to get across was that they rarely advance once they get there, but yes.

Intensity growing by the second!  :o I  knew TLU would probably be feeling some relief that their JV won. No biggie. Nothing being said over on the SCAC board, though, about anything. They are pretty quiet.

Anyways, there are so many plot points here.

Former coaches who coached for and or played for UMHB. TLU haven't not beaten UMHB since 99. TLU once in the ASC then got out.

I love the rivalry within the game. So good.

Are you saying we could actually have a rival outside of the semifinals?

I'm saying there are games within the game that lend themselves to a rivalry.

Coaches: Coach Fred doesn't want to lose to his former players who coach there.
Game Plan: those who know Coach Fred vs the 'Ol ball coach and his new Cru
Team: Seniors and juniors who know the last time this game was played. Some looking for revenge, others looking to keep the norm.
Team x2: One shunned from the playoffs and hungry, the other beaten with the jaws of defeat looking to prove they can win the big game

Crouch, If you expect this to be a low  scoring game then I think you are in for a rude awakening. I expect both teams to be able to score. I think you will be shocked at the number of points TLU puts on the board. If UMHB wins it will be because they are able to match TLU score for score and win the turnover battle.

I think you are under estimating the cru defense. The only team in the south I think the cru would have to match score for score is Wesley, unless the cru brings its b game. I'll give you some advantage for the bye week, but not that much.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Personally I don't think this is going to be a low scoring game either and if I had to guess I would assume the Bulldogs will finish somewhere in the 20's in terms of points. What do you expect them to get ksclegal?

The Cru could come out and force a goose egg, but I see them giving up 17-24 points. Last week was not a great week, although I understand where Toby is saying that they played well considering the number of throws by a good passing team. I think Barrolle is in for a rude awakening. LC's RB last year, Montague, was a beast, had a big day catching and receiving, and he barely broke 100 yds rushing. Barrolle is not going to put up those kinds of numbers. He is more like Withler Marcelin from Rowan, and he is bigger than Barrolle. Marcelin looked good early, but was battered late.

Well its nice to see we have at least generated some discussion. I think for TLU to win Barolle and Saucedo have to combine for over 200 yards of offense and TLU must win the turnover battle. I don't think UMHB has seen an offense as efficient as TLU's all season. I expect to see a 42-34 type game.

It's mid-week and it's UP with the PURPLE!

To those who resort to excuse making and the blaming of officials let me just quote the venerable Coach Darrell Royal "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas." Amen!

I would agree with this statement. TLU is by far the best team we have played all year long. They are going to come out guns blazing, and I wouldn't be surprised if they led at one point. If there is someone in the state that has depth, size, and speed like we do, then I will be the first to admit it, because it hasn't been around for a long while.

I am of the opinion that UMHB has been under-performing this year. This Saturday The CRU needs to come out and play a complete game. I have a feeling the Purple CRUsh is going to show up in Seguin.

The pressure is on TLU, in my opinion. This is the Bulldogs playoff game. If they lose there is a good chance they will be sitting at home in November. However, if TLU pulls off the upset, it really is a game changer and will likely set up a rematch in the dreaded Texas sub-bracket on November 22.

I can relate to the TLU fans. I remember when UMHB was trying to get a win over HSU and then get past Trinity. It has to be exciting in Seguin with TLU at 5-0 and hosting the #2 ranked CRU this Saturday. Definitely a match-up worthy of more than 3,500 fans. :-\

I believe the D3 Podcast has it right. If TLU get's monkey stomped then no one will care, they will say "that was supposed to happen" and TLU will join in the current parade of "L's" for the season, but if they perform well or better than expected then all kudos will go to them. So really the pressure is on UMHB to perform way above average in my mind as the Mount Union minions are licking their chops for MU to leap to #2, not that the ranking is going to drop off the board since the proof is in the playoffs.
And I am going to predict a very hard played game by the CRU and I'll go as far as saying a tough defensive game that will keep the TLU O to low numbers.. and a radical running game with alot of QB Keepers...
Bottom line.. I SOOOOOO look forward to this game and I do believe TLU to their credit will come to this game fired up and charging hard.

Good points, Morrgen.

Does anyone know how many former UMHB coaches are on the TLU staff? I watched Coach Padron on the video posted on the TLU website and he mentioned a couple. Just curious.
