Welcome to Pool B & C guys, maybe others knew but Pat said on the Top 25 poll that the ASC will not have an automatic bid to the playoffs this year and won't for a few years. Now this doesn't really matter, if any of the ASC members take care of business and run the table then they should be fine but I have to wonder if the days of there being any chance that 2 teams from the ASC getting into playoffs are gone?

Also have to wonder how this potentially hurts the SCAC as they already were in this situation. Now when the selection committee talks about at large teams, the dominate ASC team and the dominate SCAC team will be in the same discussion.

Yeah, I don't see 2 teams from the ASC getting in.  Gotta take care of business and run the table again if we want to see the playoffs.

One thing to remember here is that the keeper of the South's first at-large bid has been reassigned to the East region (Wesley) so there's one fewer at-large team in the way for the rest of the teams in this region.  I'm just starting to re-engage here as we ramp up to the fall so I haven't given a ton of though to this yet, but my initial lean here is that the Pool B bid that has basically been reserved for Wesley belongs to UMHB now- it's theirs to lose.  The rest of the region gets dumped into Pool C.  For any ASC team, that means win 9 games and they'll have a strong chance (likely the first team available after UMHB goes off through Pool B).  Don't win 9 games and it'll be tough to draw an invitation, just as it is for everybody else.  We did break through the Pool B-elgible team getting a Pool C bid barrier last year, which should also be encouraging.

With respect to the SCAC, I think TLU and Trinity are probably the two with the highest postseason potential there for 2015.  TLU has enough crossover with the ASC that they'll either emerge as a de facto runner up to UMHB (presuming UMHB wins) and knock out the rest of the ASC along the way, or they'll get knocked out themselves.  It's hard to see a scenario where TLU and a second ASC team are both in play on Selection Sunday.  Trinity doesn't intermingle with the ASC to the same degree and could emerge independent of what happens with the ASC/TLU...but it would be an interesting experiment to see what the regional committee would do with a 9-1, or even a 10-0 Trinity team that has four wins against Austin and Southwestern.  That South committee did not like Centre at all last year despite their record- and it nearly cost the Colonels a bid.

Selby is a fun place to see a game.  It's all relative though- I'm not sure how it'll stack up compared to the palace you all play in in Belton.   :)

I've had great experience with the OWU stream.  It has traditionally handled the Wabash traffic pretty well which is a stern test.  You'll be in good shape I think.

D3 does a great job of setting up links to live streaming, I usually bounce all across the nation watching games from east coast and ending on the west coast games. If one link does not work you can always check the opponents link. But generally you can catch a game one way or the other. I like to see the different capabilities as well, some broadcasts are very elaborate (St. Thomas and Ithica come to mind) as well as our UMHB broadcast and some are not so much, some almost to the point it is a guy with a cell phone cam covering it. But none the less I appreciate the attempt.

Guess we know one school that is ready for the ASC schedule to filled out with more conference games that follow a regular schedule. LC will only have 3  :o home games this year.

Getting an open date filled in the 8th week (LaCollege & Ky Wesleyan) is really good/fortuitous/lucky/indicative of tenacity!

Very true Ralph, I have to give it to Dennis Dunn, he seems to do everything possible to improve the experience of the LC football team.

Hello, Boys, I hope your offseason has gone well. Me, I've been taking Grad classes at UMHB, and that has been a great experience. I will, unfortunately, miss a couple games due to classes, and I may miss the TLU game due to my grandmother's birthday. None-the-less, I am excited.

So if I've read the board correctly, we are Pool B this year? That leaves little room for error, and TLU will be gunning for us, as will everyone. I think the coaches will have the attention of the boys this preseason and will hopefully have them pointed in the right direction.

I will also say that I'm aware of the possibility that Coach Fred scans these boards from time to time, so take that as you like it.

Finally, I've been very impressed with the character of one Zach Anderson. I contacted the young man after receiving approval from Coach Fred to see if he would be willing to help a young man out who is learning the game. He came away with rave reviews from the boy's mother, and that was excellent to hear.

Well, best wishes to you all as the academic calendar is set to kick off. Speaking of which, go buy KickOff and support Pat and Keith and the rest of the guys who make D3 so enjoyable.

Best of wishes to you all...
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I have to agree, I think every team should have at least 10 games, regardless if they have to play teams two times (although I am not a favor of it).
