Ummm La Crosse was.. ok.... :D they may pump up once they arrive at the Cruthedral and the fans electricity pumps them up, but if the Cru bring the same game.... 8-)

After looking over their previous two games, it looks like their strength is passing, which will be good for our young DB's and secondary. I think our DLine will dominate again, as they have young players on the front line on Offense. Their QB had a great first week against a good opponent, but St. Thomas held him to under 100 yards. I imagine we'll do the same. They also went from 168 yds rushing to 38, so I see UMHB as handling them well, getting our 2's and 3's in the game for reps, and preparing for ASC play well. The next few weeks give us a great leadup to TLU and HSU.

Should be a lot of fun.

One thing that will obviously affect the game but we probably won't know till Saturday is who is playing QB for LAX. According to their local paper, their starter Trent Cummings may have suffered a concussion against St. Thomas and didn't play the entire 2nd half. The article also stated that he had some issues with this last season so there is a chance he might not play against the Cru either.

The UMHB offense was humming against Millsaps. The line play showed vast improvement over week one as did the QB performance. The Purple CRUsh defense is looking very, very tough. I've heard some say they believe the d-line might be one of the best UMHB has fielded. In my mind it's a little too early for that  discussion, but two games into this season and the line -- the whole defense really -- has played extremely well.

More news about their QB and word that their best player last week, their punter, will not be making the trip to Belton due to injury.

Thanks for the link.  Just a FYI... if people are having trouble displaying the page correctly, try clicking on the story link through http://lacrossetribune.com/sports/ instead.

So, they will be without their punter and possibly starting QB.  That certainly won't help their odds.  Still, you should never take any opponent too lightly.  I'm sure Coach Pete will have the Cru ready to go.

Props to the LaCrosse Tribune on some great coverage of the Eagles as they have already published another story saying that the senior QB will not play or make the trip to Belton.

You are very correct though GillCJ1, can't take anyone for granted and I am sure Coach Pete will have the team focused.

Another takeaway is that they have a freshman QB transfer from FCS Illinois State.  I don't know that he's had any experience at that level (can't find any evidence of it, anyways).  But obviously the kid was good enough to make it there.  He's third on the new depth chart, though, so I don't know that he'll take the field against the Cru.

According to the game notes, UMHB will start only 3 seniors on offense this week and 1 more is listed on the two-deep. Five seniors will start on defense and 1 other is listed on the two-deep. The CRU has a lot of talented youth on this year's squad. The future does look bright.  8-)

I noticed last week number 6 for the Cru, Hunter Schmidt wasn't suited up but he was on the sideline. So I assume he is injured and he isn't on the 2 deep this week either.

Didn't see number 11 Walker on the depth chart this week, I assume he is injured as well?

Hopefully nothing too serious, will give some other guys a chance to gain valuable game experience i suppose.

Game day is upon us. Time to see how the O has improved from last week. I'm also interested in see our size comparison. Seems the WIAC teams always have good size.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Yep.  Those Wiscy boys are usually big.  I think I read something about their impressive O-line size in the game notes.  It should be fun seeing how they stack up to our D!

Is Duane Thompson a sophomore or a senior? PA announcer says senior. Roster on cruathletics.com says sophomore.

He's a Sophomore.

Not a flashy game by the Cru, but they got the job done.  3-0 heading into a bye week.

Then why does he keep saying senior?
