Since UMHB was quiet yesterday I watched some other games, Wesley/NCC was amazing...

That was a good one.  I also checked out parts of the Southwestern/UW-RF and MIT/Maine Maritime games.  Neither were quite as exciting, but each had their moments.  Looking forward to a return to action this week for the Cru!

Great quote from Coach Fred in the Killeen Daily Herald article. The entire article can be found by going to their sports page online. Here is the quote:

In fact, Fredenburg learned of Belhaven's move to the ASC from Mumme himself.
"My phone rang one day, and the voice on the other end just said, 'I'm back,'" Fredenburg recalled. "I asked who it was, and he said, 'It's your buddy Hal Mumme. We're coming into your conference and we're going to play you.'
"I told him that was good, and he said, 'It is good because we had a pretty good rivalry going there.' I said, 'We did?'"

Absolutely love that last part!

Haha those were some funny quotes. Personally not sure if it was a rivalry or not, but they sure were some exciting games.

Some other good news in the article is that Wykehe Walker and Hunter Schmidt should both be back for Saturday.

Yes, having these boys back will be nice, especially against what can be considered a weak D from Belhaven: 52, 62, 42, 35. Looks like they are getting stronger, but facing them with our O that hasn't been consistent will be nice.

I also think this will be a great game for our DBacks and the Air Raid Hal Mumme offense. I hate to miss it.

It will be interesting to face a Hal Mumme offense again.  I remember those 2 games against his McMurry squad in 2011.  Pouring rain and lightning delays for the regular season game that ended 28-27.  I don't recall them not shaking hands at the end, but it's not the first time I've heard about it.  I'm pretty sure my wife and I were soaking wet and ready to get home by then.

I hope folks are reading Brian Lester's "Around the South" columns.   He's doing a good job of covering the teams that don't often see the spotlight.    I know that Cru fans would probably like more coverage, but you'll no doubt get yours later in the season as the playoffs roll around.

I know for a fact they didn't. Mumme says he was worried about the weather and lightning, but he was really mad that JaBeast Jones intercepted that ball at the end. They came back for the playoff...it wasn't even close. They shook hands that time. I remember the article right after that first game where Coach Fred was very upset about them not shaking hands.

Agreed.  Speaking of such things, Chicago is a team to keep an eye on over in the SAA.

I know this isn't breaking news since Kelly mentioned this a while back but last on night on the UMHB Coaches Show, Coach Pete confirmed that Linfield will be coming to UMHB in 2016 and the Cru will head to Oregon in 2017. The question was asked if the 2016 schedule was complete and he said basically yes and talked about the Linfield game and no other specific games.

I would assume all ASC members will play Belhaven and McMurry in 2016 which would mean the Cru would have 7 conference games and Ohio Wesleyan, Linfield and TLU??? would be the non-conference games.

I did not know what year we would be traveling to McMinnville. I am going to starting saving my nickles and dimes in order to make the trip to Oregon. If there is any way possible for you to make the trip in 2017, do so. The Willamette Valley is beautiful and McMinnville is a wonderful community in the heart of Yamhill County. Of course, it should be a great football game as well.

It was 50-0 Cru at the half, so I spent most of the 3rd and 4th quarters walking around the stadium with my son.  I did catch the blocked PAT return for a 2 pt conversion, so that was fun.  Also, I predicted 4 INTs before the kickoff.  :D

Good showing all around by the Cru.  Lobos of Sul Ross State come to visit next week.
