i think it would be last seasons loss which has alot to do with it, but also, Linfield is a strong program even if the surrounding programs don't come to their level of play the greater majority of the time, they are still a very good program none the less. Next year should be an incredible year, with UMHB and Linfield meeting in the regular season, that is a coup for both programs,

Regarding the AFCA (#2) and d3football.com (#3) rankings for the Cru...

It's difficult to remain unbiased, and some of my fellow Cru fans may disagree with me, but I 100% agree with Pat in this case (assume this is who controls the d3fb twitter account?).  I don't really understand why we are ranked #2 ahead of Linfield in that poll, either.  There's nothing in recent history to suggest UMHB should be ahead of them.  Even putting aside the fact that they lost to Linfield in the 2nd round of last year's playoffs, the quality of opponents and margins of victory so far this year don't really point in the Cru's favor, either.

Yes, generally that's me. About 96-98% of the tweets. Been on my mind for a while and finally decided to say something.

UMHB JV defeated TLU 35-13 tonight (Oct. 19) in Belton. The CRU JV beat TLU earlier this season 27-7 in Seguin. UMHB remains undefeated on the season with a record of 6-0.

Congrats to UMHB senior defensive end Jon Isom being named to this week's D3football.com team of the week. Isom broke the ASC single-game record with five sacks in a win over Louisiana College and also broke the UMHB record with six tackles for loss. Jon had seven total tackles and batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage as the Cru held LC to 66 rushing yards and 231 yards of total offense.

Next up for Isom and The CRU, Texas Lutheran.

Looking like it is going to be a wet one at The CRUthedral on Saturday.

No postponements during the regular season, either, so that stinks. I thought Wesley extended theirs to Monday, though, a couple weeks ago. Why would this not fall under the same opportunity? Anyways, it starts at one and will have time to get in. I hope it does.

The playoff FAQ has the conference records in the playoffs since the start of the Pool System in 1999.

The ASC is 31-22 in the playoffs.  Not counting head to head competitions between UMHB and HSU twice, UMHB vs Lousiana College, and UMHB vs McMurry, the conference is 27-18, a .600 record.

I like that record because several of the games are against stronger opponents than a bracket not contructed to consider "geographic proximity' (IMHO another term for "We can save a plane flight or two by pairing these two teams from the top half of the bracket a round earlier.")

Anticipating a soggy, soggy day at The CRUthedral on Saturday. My two cents: If the UMHB defense plays the way it has played the first six games of the season and, if, the offense protects the ball, I believe The CRU will leave no doubt against TLU and the regular season game winning streak will extend to 61.

Weather.com shows 60% chance of T-storms at 1:00 p.m. and chances increase as the day goes on.  Rain isn't so much the issue as is lightning.  Not sure what the NCAA would allow for a non-conference game in terms of postponement or if there is a point when a game is ruled complete and a team declared the winner.  A couple years ago, TLU started a game with SAGU but it was suspended pretty early in the game for a couple of hours and eventually cancelled and not counted in any way.  Not sure how an incomplete/cancelled game would affect playoff scenario, but I suspect it would have an impact depending on how the rest of the season plays out.

Ok then for safety sake, I say we take last years results and use them, since UMHB won both times last year.. ..the Cru win again, there.. no one has to get wet, no danger.. it is settled...(no brain cells were damaged in the thought process, always tip your waiter)

Well i will be there wet or no wet, thunder or no thunder and if it is pushed ot Sunday (maybe) then i'll be there too...

For UMHB, I don't think it matters much if the game isn't played.  If they beat Hardin-Simmons, they'll wind up 9-0 and more than likely one of the top 4 overall seeds with home field through the quarterfinals.  If they play the game, lose to TLU and beat Hardin-Simmons, I think UMHB is probably still in, although I haven't done that calculus yet.  A lot would depend on what the south RAC does with UMHB in their rankings.

For TLU, it's a bit different.  Playing the game and losing certainly knocks them out of the playoffs.  Not playing the game at all, puts them in a weird 8-1 situation, with one loss to regionally ranked Hardin-Simmons and one game against SWAG that the committee isn't going to pay much attention to.  So they'd have the one loss to a good team, and no wins with any real substance to speak of.  I don't think that eliminates them exactly, but they are no means safely in the 32 with that profile.  A win against UMHB would put them safely in, IMO.

Thanks, Wally! I completely agree. UMHB is fairly safe to make the field should the game be canceled. I believe there will be plenty of rain and not too much lightning. Today, with the rain, there was no lightning that I saw, save for one burst of sheet lightning yesterday. There could be a massive downpour without the lightning this time of year, and that would be great. Thankfully the game starts at one and has all day to play-out. Surely they've spoken with NCAA officials and have a plan. I've asked several times but no information has been shared.
