I agree those are solid questions....I don't pretend to be an expert but here's my attempt to answer...... Ramos is hard to replace his all around performance. I believe they will have multiple players step up to cover those spots. We saw lots of promising things from Wr 19 last year and I fully expect him to be tough to contain.  Special teams returns will be interesting to see how that goes and who fills those roles.  If I recall the DL had more sr's and young guys will need to step up while the OL was young   I think the OL will continue to be strong. I also feel the coaching staff has gelled well and seems to be assembling solid players.   time will tell , Cowboys find a way.....

Looking forward to the 2016 season. Looking for some HSU perspective. Certainly lost some key contributors but seem to have good returning players and solid replacements. I agree with the initial conference predictions and think like last year we could see some great games (yes plural) between HSU and UMHB.

Question for you GLAD2BCOWBOY, how well do you think your boys are going to be able to replace your offensive and defensive lines? Obviously Ramos will be very hard to replace but that d-line last year was pretty solid but heavy on seniors last year.

So, I'm working back at the place I used to work and I just happen to work with 3 HSU ball players...2 OL and 1 incoming LB. The question is the D line, almost all are gone, but as I was told, there was a lot of pt for the underclassmen last year. The OL is back except for 1 person. Some solid experience and have some size on the bench
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Must be getting close when the local news channels start posting their videos about the excitement of starting the season. The local NBC channel had Coach Pete on for a minute, nothing crazy said but he did say he thought some freshmen and a few transfer could have an immediate impact. Does he say this every season, probably, but only 38 days till we find out.

Nothing cynical, but one of my favorite scenes from a sports movie is in Bull Durham when Crash Davis and Luke LaLooosh are riding on the bus.

Crash tells Luke to memorize all of the lines that he will ever need when being interviewed by the media.

In the back of my mind, having listened to decades upon decades of those interviews, it seems to me that everyone in sports, the player, the coach, the AD and possibly even the President of the institution, has those pat answers memorized.

Good for Texas Wesleyan, have to think a few phone calls were made to try to pry them out of NAIA. Although at this point with McMurry, Belhaven, TLU, and Southwestern coming online in the next few years guess the urgency is much less than it had been before all that news broke.

There are plenty of ties to Teeny-Weeny College in my family so I have followed them since they went straight thru the ASC in about 2001 from D-2 on to the NAIA.

Why wait 4 years to compete in D-3 when there is already a NAIA conference (Central States Football Conference) where you can be competitive VERY quickly?  Travel for the NAIA conference is no more expensive than trips to Jackson MS and Alpine TX. (They only play Arizona Chirstian on the road every other year.)

I suspect that the Athletic Scholarships that the NAIA permits will incent local talent from Ft Worth to stay in town.

Happy Move-In Day everyone! I know UMHB moved in today and I believe that would be true for everyone in the ASC except Belhaven who might have already moved in earlier since they kickoff on the 1st instead of the 3rd.

I am pumped about UMHB-Ohio Wesleyan game, but the other ASC game I will probably give them most attention to is ETBU-TLU to start the year out.

Should be a great year with the conference with more teams have a legit shot at the title and McMurry and Belhaven playing a full slate of ASC games.

The CRU is back in town! I stopped by practice this morning for a few minutes and talked to some folks who seem to be "in the know." Some strategic moves have been made and if folks thought the offensive speed of UMHB was impressive last season, look out. Wow, the speed at the skill positions is going to be blazing! DE Teidrick Smith has been a beast during his three years in Belton and will be even more so this season. Offenses aren't going to know where he's coming from. It looks like another banner season for the boys wearing Purple, Gold and White!
