Thanks for the update. Looking forward to checking out the area, eating some good bbq and seeing to 2 great teams battle it out on Saturday.

On a side note: Looking at checking out the Temple HS vs Cedar Ridge HS game on Friday night as I'm a HS FB coach and want to check out some Friday night lights Texas football.

Temple would be a good team to go see.  They're a highly ranked 5A team...not the biggest classification in Texas but still good sized schools.  They've got several D1 prospects.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football has Temple (2-1) ranked #11 in 5-A this week. The Wildcats suffered a loss 26-20 loss to 6A Midway last week. Round Rock Cedar Ridge (3-0) is ranked #22 in 6-A this week, again according to DC's Texas Football. Both teams should have some talented athletes. FWIW: Cedar Ridge blasted Midway 52-3 two weeks ago. I don't know anything about the game. I was a little shocked by the score because Midway usually has a pretty strong team.

Apologies if this takes things further off-topic, but as Kelly mentioned Midway had been fielding good teams in recent years.  I think they have a new coach this year.  One of my wife's cousins played for them a couple years ago when they made a championship run.  We try to go see them at least once a year (usually when they are down in this area playing one of Belton/Temple/Harker Heights/Round Rock).

Anyways, regardless of current standings, I believe the Temple v. Cedar Ridge game is a good choice to take in some Texas Friday Night Lights.  Hope you enjoy it, wildcatdad22.

One more forecast update from Weather Underground for Saturday's game at The CRUthedral: Less than 10% chance of rain during the game with temps in the mid to upper 80s and a very slight southerly breeze. A 15% chance of rain during the afternoon with a high of 91. It looks like a picture-perfect fall day for Central Texas; a great day for D3 football!

Headed out tonight!  Looking forward to the game, the food, and maybe seeing some of y'all (can I say that if I'm from Southern California?)  What would be a good time to show up at the game (as far a parking, getting tickets, etc....)?

Also--Best bets for BBQ in Austin area (actually staying in Round Rock but will travel) where I won't have to wait for hours in line?

MonroviaCat,

I was told to check out Black's bbq as they opened a location in Austin. The original one is in Lockford. I will be going there as well as Miller's in Belton.

See you at the game.

That is Lockhart.

Millers in Belton is very good. I believe it to be better than Blacks.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Regarding Midway:  I think they played the first couple of games without their normal starting QB, who is a D1 prospect.  I believe he was back last week against Temple.  So, that could explain their early record.

Linfield folks:  Another BBQ restaurant in Austin that is outstanding is Stiles Switch BBQ on N. Lamar.  Food is great!  Cool note about it, they are actually in the building that was used for the pool hall scenes in Dazed and Confused.   Enjoy.

Thanks for the info, cover2, that would would explain somethings. Like I said, I was shocked by the Panthers score against RR Cedar Ridge because Midway has been a solid program through the years.

Here are a couple of short previews from local TV stations.

Just settled down in our hotel in Dallas for the night. Looking forward to making our way down to Belton tomorrow evening.
