HSU grad here, first time posting, but have been following for years.

Headed to the amazing venue that is Crusader Stadium for the game this weekend.  Just wanted to say good luck to both sides, and hoping that HSU will keep it close enough to have a shot at the end of the game.

Loving the "pet names" for the schools!

Welcome, HSU1018!  Always good to have more ASC fans on the board.  Safe travels to you and the rest of the HSU contingent as they make their way to Belton this weekend.

Alot of hype for this game, and it is going to be a game on an away location, but to me, the true test for this Cru is HSU. I like ETBU's new coach and such, and they are a good side, but I've been watching HSU, and they are a quiet solid side. The Cru just have to take it one game at a time, focus on where we are now, not three games from now, which I think coach will do.
Thing is, I dig the 2016 Cru because with Blake in the seat I feel he brings that one part we were struggling with in past seasons. The HPU game, the second half was our two even three deep and it kinda bogged down, but previous quarters, the Defense was scoring more than the Offiense, and when Blake had the field, he was running the guys just fine.
I do voice a question why we are not seeing Zane Bolls in the line, perhaps coach wanted the freshmen to experience a game with no hand holding, perhaps ZB is injured, who knows, but it appears, at least at this point the Zane is not in the Offense at TE or QB.
I put up to Jon that they submit the tackle of our Baylor Mullens after his pic by our own player, I was crying laughing after that play.

Interesting side note for this weekends game.  The Boles kid has a sister that plays volleyball at HSU.  With Breton and Garner being seniors, whats the chance we can get a transfer? I'm sure Burleson can get him on the field, if UMHB can't.

He had some time in the OWU game and punted in the TLU game, then just dropped off the page, possibly there could be some other issues out there we may not know about.

Zane's status is an interest to all of us.  He moved to TE before the season began, but recent comments from the coaching staff had suggested he would be moved back to QB.  Obviously, Blake is a Sr. for us, so we will be looking at a new face come next year.  Much like HSU.  The only other QBs who have varsity playing time under their belt are Zane (from last year) and true freshman Kyle Jones.  So, unless we get a transfer or one of the J.V. guys impresses enough to step up, we may be relying more on those 2 aforementioned guys as we look to next season.

I know that really doesn't answer your question, but at this point, no one really knows what's going on.  If anyone else has some insider knowledge, please do share.

As GillCJ1 said, Zane's status has been interesting all year but I have to think by next year its going to be very different. By then you would think he would have had the chance to prove he should be the next QB of the team or had more time to learn how to be the TE/H-back position he has been so far this year.

From everything I have heard he started out the year somewhat injured and when you mix that with learning a new position it was a hard combination to see playing time from. Also our starting TE has done a more than adequate job so I have to think that has limited Zane's playing time at that spot.

Obviously anything is possible since there are no rules against him transferring but from everything I have heard he has been a totally unselfish player and it is has to be pretty flattering that one of the best teams in the country is doing anything it can to find a way to get you on the field.

Speaking of back up players, can any of the HSU fans explain the position of Luke Bishop? Looking at the play by play he seems to come in at random times playing QB and maybe even running back. I remember him coming out of high school since him and his boys from Aledo beat Temple in the state championship.

Hooyah Cowboys

Luke Bishop is an absolute stud. He was the 5A state player of the year in high school at Aledo. He comes in a sort of wildcat type package occasionally and has done really well. 3 rushing touchdowns last week isn't bad for a 3rd string QB haha. As much as we'll miss Breton and Garner, I'm excited to see what this kid can do if he wins the starting job next season.

Zane Boles is listed on the 2-Deep (as the backup punter to Baylor Mullins).  Not surprising, but just wanted to point it out due to the recent discussion.

Kai Locksley is transferring from UT. Would make a good fit for us in the future as a dual threat 6' 4" QB 🤘

I wish!  I remember seeing tape of the kid out of high school.  He's from Maryland, right?  I'd assume he will opt to transfer closer to home.

Well, you Belton Boys lucked out. Looks like this new enterprise is a go.

HSU came to play and play they did. Hats off to the Cowboys on a supreme effort. UMHB O-line did not get the job done until late in the 4th. UMHB defense came up with plays when needed and Baylor Mullins punting was great all game long. I full expect to see HSU vs UMHB on November 19 at Crusader Stadium.

The CRU need to take care of business early the next three weeks and get some guys healed up for the playoffs.

It's too bad that if both HSU and UMHB take care of business the rest of the way they will meet in round 1 as usual.

Hats off to HSU! They showed up with fire in their belly and desire to win. The Cru did not have both their mind and body in the game. As it was said earlier, The Cru needs to put the game away early to allow the starters time to heal before the playoffs.

It appears that The Cru has fallen into the same pit that way too many college as well as pro programs have fallen into. How in the blaze does one expect to tackle someone if they don't wrap their arms around the player? It seems all they want to do is throw their body at the ball runner and hope they knock him off balance. The total yards that HSU got from us on (yards after contact) was way too high! I think it just comes down to working on the basics.

There is still time to get back on track, but The Cru must play one game at a time and don't take anything for granted. If HSU finishes up the season without any other losses I think that it's a sure bet that the D3 selection committee will pair UMHB and HSU regardless of what the pairing really should be. D3 is so cheap that they will make sure that they have as many playoff teams be less than the magical 500 miles apart from each other.

Great game , great atmosphere. This game was won and lost based on field position. Cru punting game was solid. HSU contestantly had a 90 yd field while umhb always seemed to get the ball on the 40 or 50.  Much respect for HSU def. they stood strong all day with the short field.  Again. Great game and hope to get umhb again in a few weeks.

Coolrey

Very surprised it was this close.  UMHB won't go far in the playoffs if they continue to play as they did today.  HSU has a solid team.  UMHB should be on the same level as Mount Union and UW-W with their facilities, recruiting base, etc. and it will be interesting how things go between these two when they meet again in the playoffs, assuming they do.
