I'm an HPU fan and thats the only time I saw UMHB play this season so thats the game i'm referencing if thats ok with you?

Everybody in this conference and in the South knows they are good but they've only been out on the national level one year.  They have plenty to prove and plenty to shoot for.

You can ask anybody at HPU or UMHB that was at that game and they'll tell you there was all kinds of pressure on the QB all day long.

"They should have killed HPU" well we should have beaten ETBU, which we beat all over the field that day but didn't on the scoreboard.  IF HPU would have won that game on the scoreboard like they did on the field, we would have two teams in the playoffs right now.   But thats all over with now and UMHB is representing the ASC.  If they continue to play at that high level they showed throughout the last part of the regular season, they will represent the ASC, their school and their fans very well.

also please forgive me for any grammar or spelling errors, before anybody decides to bash me.

I think that UMHB still has a lot to prove, but I also feel that they will make a big statement in the playoffs this year.  I will be unable to go to the game due to work, but I look forward to the idea of a home playoff game for the crusaders in round 2.  I also happen to think that every time the cru gets a chance to prove themselves they do so in great fashion.  I rest assured, that the cru as a national contender is not a fluke and as an ASC fan anyone posting on this board should not see the representative for our conference in that way either.  Well, I hope the cru has a great game, and I know if the D-LINE  and O-LINE take care of business the team will follow.  Congrats on the All conference honors too.  Especially you O-line guys.

UMHB should be able to handle the South Region QB's at the least.

TLU's Sean Salinas, HPU's Adam Johnson and McMurry's Ty Sellers were good preparation for the Cru.  UMHB is now carrying an ASC flag.

Kinda funny that UMHB made the Stagg Bowl and everyone else just thought..."Okay good! But they are not so tough! We can get better and beat them!"

Only HPU did, but the whole conference got stronger!  HSU did with back up QB's  HPU adapted to a new coach and a new system!  Football returned to McMurry.  LC's Wesley Cooper is the best QB that "no one has ever heard of!"  And did ETBU just rebuild this year?

Go CRU!  Good luck tomorrow! :)

I hope my comment wasn't taken out of text when i said UMHB has incentive to show last year wasn't a fluke.  I don't think it was but on the national spotlight if they go deep once again they'll show they deserve to be there and will show this conference is getting stronger with a great showing by them.

I'll be there.  There was a nice article today in the San Antonio Express about the game.  Of course, it is mostly about Trinity.  You can get it at www.mysantonio.com.  It seems the Trinity d line is a lot smaller than our o line.

Where do you go to read the after I clicked on the link I couldn't find anything about the acrticle

I had the same problem finding the article... go to this specific page... should get you there....   http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/localcolleges/storyindex.html

Mr. Allen had his mouth wide open in that article...we'll see what he has to say this time tomorrow.

If you've read up and down the articles on this site UMHB still has alot to prove and so does the ASC, at least to the D3 gurus....Hopefully with the better weather this game will be easier to watch than last year's. Go CRU !!!

We need more D3's in Texas and another AQing conference so that its possible for more than one TX team to win a game in the playoffs.  Oh well, wishful thinking.

As for today, GO CRU!  BEAT THE TIGERS!

I think a real key today will be if Kelner can play.  I know he was out of the last couple of games.  He is a great receiver.

Hey JousterinVA, good to see you make an appearance. Your handle reminded me of our old battle cry... "JOUST 'EM"

WR's can change games, true.  However, a great performance by one team in the passing game never guaranteed a victory.

Kelner's presence will alter the game a bit, but he'll only be a factor contingent upon the other aspects of the game.

It is my opinion that one WR, while being able to rip off huge chunks of yardage, very rarely is the determining factor in the outcome of a game.  I believe that's true at all levels of competition.   See Terrell Owens in last year's super bowl.  He really showed up, but they came up short.

Kelner's good, but he's not anywhere near as good as some of the other guys that have played that position for Trinity in the last 10 years.

Allow me to extend a premature congratulations to UMHB.  It is clear that UMHB is so good that anyone has to play a perfect game to beat them, and they can score in enough different ways that they can make mistakes and still dominate.  If the opponent makes mistakes, the opponent will pay for it.

These are great days for UMHB football, and I know how all of you feel because the Tigers have been there for so long.  I will be rooting for you down the strech, and enjoy it while it lasts.  A group of players as good as you have are only eligible for so long, as every program eventually finds out except for Mt Union.

We will be back, and no ASC champ can advance without getting past TU, as the economics of the NCAA division III playoffs dictate.

TU2698,

Its unfortunate that the Texas teams have to battle it out in the first round.  They could at least make it the second round. Good luck to TU next year and congrats on a good season

Congrats to UMHB!!!  I was at the game this afternoon....not real exciting!!!  UMHB's defense was dominant as ever, but their offense was pretty anemic.  The Trinity defense played very well.  For most of the game, they were able to stop the run.  About midway through the 3rd, Freddie Rollins got on a roll.  He is one big dude!!!  The first UMHB drive killed half of the 3rd quarter.

I heard the announcer say at halftime that Trinity had a little over 100 yards of offense and UMHB had 55.  It was amazing that UMHB had 28 points!!!

Keep up the good work UMHB and stomp Wesley next week!!!

Ron Boerger

My congrats to UMHB as well.  I was told that this was UMHB's lowest offensive output since the 2000 first-round loss to Trinity.

The UMHB D saved the day in this one.  Trinity had the ball inside the ten three times in the second half and could not convert once.   Nick McPhaul broke up several of the few long passes Trinity attempted.  Williams, Lopez, and Freeman were all very active.

The D is good enough to keep going, but the O has to catch up to go as far as Linfield.  Josh Welch hurt his hand - it's in a cast and will be re-evaluated early next week.  Coach Pete said he was having a hard time grasping things, hopefully that improves if the swelling does.

Congrats, UMHB!  Undisputed champion of Texas football (go away, HPU) in 2005!!
