Most telling stat for me from the HSU HPU game, 4 sacks for HPU. If HSU is giving up 4 sacks to HPU, then they are going to be in trouble against our front 4. It's going to be a long day for the Cowboys.

I saw the ETBU/ Belhaven game...That was just... weird...It almost seemed like only one side showed up to play (ETBU) Belhaven just seem to not have any heart. So yeah, ETBU was a question mark for me having a third new coaching scheme in three years but the guys seem to be settling in on the new coaching staff and their vision so I would say ETBU is a factor for this season. (I had them out for a year for adjustment)

Cru looked enormous last night, lets look at this

We saw Three.. not two.. three QBs in the game - Tj looked a bit smoother in the game, needs to tighten the passing - straight passes he is pinpoint but the fading routes he still need to tighten them up. Great on the ground as usual

Kyle Jones! Last season he seemed like a deer in headlights but hey, a freshman in varsity play could be daunting. Last night he looked awfully good, confident. passes were spot on, command in the back field, looked really smooth and I'll still say it again, I'd like to see more Kyle in QB and TJ on wide out where he is the scariest and probably one of the best WR in DIII. TJ is a junior, Kyle a sophomore.. that is two years of collaboration and success that is possible, I hope this would be in the works.

Tevin Muse at QB- the UTEP transfer to UMHB - We didn't get enough time to see much but the little we did see was pretty solid, confident , he's 6'3" and not intimidated even with a closing pocket he finished his plays, seemed to be a good prospect.

Of course the Bryce show, you gotta love the fact that he wants the ball at all times....it's showtime when Bryce is in the play. Markeith Miller is again outstanding

Our Linebackers, YES! YES and YES! the D line is growing from a beast to an enormous beast. Was that a performance last night or what! Santos Villarreal... what! Chris Jones! fans.. we are looking at a great three years to come....

Ok Crunation look, this side is so blessed with talent we don't have the time to list them all. just look at the last quarter last night was mostly freshmen in the line, so many different names, and such great play

It's a great season again to be a Crufan!

Coach Fred spoke to this in the TDTnews.com article today.

"Fredenburg said. "You like having your best athletes on the field. And when T.J. is on the sideline, I think, 'He'd be pretty good out there running pass routes.' But I also think he adds a dimension at quarterback."

I completely agree with this. I think that Josey adds a dimension, but Jones looked far better.  I think Josey is too far removed from QB play. I'd love to see him leading our new WR's in the secondary.

One freshman I want to see more of is RB Marquis Duncan. He is the 5'4" player from San Antonio.  He saw much more playing time last night and was dynamic in limited touches.  Once he can learn the offense, he is going to be a great paring with Miller.

On the offensive side of the ball, I feel like we have the opportunity to be better than last year. I know this is  ???  :o after the start to the season, but I feel like we are primed for a great 2/3 of the season if we can get a few pieces ready.  I'd like to see Jones get the start this week and see how the offense responds.

Defensively, we were without Raylon Hickey last night.  He is arguably the best tackler out of the DB's.  He will stop anyone in their tracks.  The defensive secondary's future looks bright after seeing Jefferson Fritz play the last few weeks. This kid broke on a play against SRS that looked like it was going for several yards, and he shut it down. He had an INT last night that was another great play on the ball. He looks to be another Baylor Mullins, and with Baylor as a coach, this kid is going to explode in his talent.

The game in two weeks is going to be huge. I look forward to being there.

Yes 2001 I totally agree, but there is so much that is bright on the Cru side it is hard to bring it out. Marquis Duncan is an amazing RB, he kind of reminds me of Barole from TLU, quick, has good instincts and is able to keep moving in the right direction no matter the instance, a very good future ahead.
And the story about the secondary kicker Mark Frankhouser, a Baseball player who walks on and said he'd like to kick and lookee at what we have here, can you believe this kid!... John Mowry is very good but some competition within the squad can make someone go from very good to very great.

Got to give props to the local ESPN radio station out of Waco, they have been giving way more coverage to the Cru this year. Jon Wallin is on weekly on Thursdays and at both home games this they got interviews from a few players and Coach Pete.

You can hear the entire  :o post game press conference and those interviews here http://www.1660espn.com/you-make-the-call/

+1 for the link to those interviews. I've not seen those on here before. I've always wanted to hear those post game interviews. Other teams do it, and they have video, but UMHB has never recorded and posted them.  Last year after the Mount Union game, they had a video of the post game report and the audio didn't work.  It baffles my mind as to how this happens. Anyways, glad to have this new source of information.

Did nobody notice that HSU's starting QB didn't play at all against HPU?

I could play QB for HSU against HPU and the Cowboys would blow-out the Yellowjackets.  No disrespect intended for HPU, it is just the current reality in Brownwood right now. I do hope UMHB alum Braxton Harris can get things turned around at HPU, but it will take some time.

Ha! I agree 100%, you can hardly even call them a football team without feeling disrespectful to the game ;D. I just thought it was interesting. Looks like he didn't even suit up, not sure why this would have happened.

Kelly Boggs

He could be dinged up. The coaches knew he would not be needed. Perhaps they thought it would be better, in the long run, to let him rest/heal in order to be ready for ETBU and then UMHB on October 7. I have no way of knowing, just speculation on my part in an effort to provide an answer to your "not sure why this would have happened" statement.

The 2017 version of Sul Ross football is not the SRSU of the past. The Lobos are a senior-laden team and have a defense that is pretty tough. Anyone that underestimates Sul Ross will regret doing so.

Great win on Saturday.  That was the most complete game they've put together in this young season.  I loved the QB rotation - especially impressed with the maturation of Kyle Jones.  D was deadly as usual.

Southwestern this week.  An away game I can actually go to!

What ever happened to Luke Bishop at Hardin Simmons? I watched him play against Temple in the state championship.
