Yeah, definitely a long shot. But possible. I would hate to give etbuthe satisfaction of qualifying for the playoffs but it would provide an easy W for HSU and/or mhb.
Also, I'm sure this has been answered before but since the ASC is now a 10 team conference, when do we start getting the automatic bid?

I believe y'all qualify for an AQ again starting next season.

- Nobody else that is not automatically qualified for the playoffs in the South region ends with just one loss, leaving ETBU the next (and first for Pool C) at-large team in the region
- Some other chaos around the nation (St. John's loses again...IWU loses again...Frostburg loses again...etc). Probably need 2-3 of those kinds of things to happen.

If St John's loses again, it's likely to Concordia-Moorhead, and they would be a 1-loss MIAC team with a pretty solid shot at taking the spot instead.

There is no "SCAC winner".   The SCAC schools that play FB are either affiliated with the ASC or SAA.

Since Berry has already beat HX and Centre it is going to take something very unlikely, like a three-way tie of teams with one loss, for anyone other than Berry to be the conference champion.   From results so far the Vikings are far and away the strength of the conference (would that I could say otherwise).
im pretty sure he means SCIAC not SCAC

I'm hoping that your post was tongue-in-cheek - noting the logo confusion .For those who don't want to click on the link, the real opponent is Louisiana-Lafayette.

Yes, I thought the smiley with the tongue hanging out was a dead giveaway.  I guess not.

Just found it amusing.   :)

So, I don't get on here that often, but I will throw my 2 cents worth in even if it is not worth that much.

I do like what I read that there is still an outside shot at ETBU making it to the post-season as I am sure everyone, but us, has already given UMHB the conference championship.  To be honest, I'm not sure that I believe we can hang with them either, but then again, I'm not playing.  There are a few things that could go our way and that starts with us winning every game we have left up to the last week of the season vs UMHB.  It will be a tough road as I am sure everyone will try to use the model that HSU showed will work and that is run it down our throats.  That was an ugly game in more ways than one.  We got outplayed, out-coached, and once we got behind early, there was no catching up when you can't stop them from scoring on every drive.

I will say the only good part of that game was us putting up 42 on what I had been told was a GREAT defense.  475 passing and over 600 total yards.  And, I don't want to hear, like I have already read, that the backups were in the game in the 2nd half.  I have done the film study! With 8:30 left in the 4th quarter the HSU defense was still in just as it started the game as well as the ETBU offense.  With one exception, the HSU defensive line rotates 12 kids at the 4 DL positions so there is no EXCUSE for saying they were tired.  We rotate no OL (4 FR playing on the line) and hardly any players at the other positions on offense.  This is not sour grapes as I realize they are a better team than ETBU as the score shows.  Just would like to have seen a more competitive game on our side.

Hard to believe any team can beat the 2 week scenario of scoring 79 in one week only to give up 80 the next week as we did.  LOL

BTW, for those of you who might have noticed some out-of-place people on the HSU side last week (we wore ETBU stuff), my wife and I came to the HSU/UMHB game as I just couldn't pass it up since we were traveling to Brownwood for our game that night.  We sat on the HSU side as I was counting on them being more hospitable considering what they had done to us the previous week.  Nice game and I wish we could see a few more like that in this conference.

Anyways, we have a tough game this week vs TLU as I think it will be a better game than last year's opening game when we "shocked" the #24 ranked TLU due to maybe they just didn't know what was about to hit them with the "new" QB that night.  I'm kind of partial to him if you haven't figured that out yet.  Just wish he would get a little notice from others in this league.

HSU also has a 'scare" game this weekend especially since it is in Alpine.  An upset there could really turn things upside down for that possible 2nd spot in the playoffs from the ASC.  I haven't seen any Sul Ross film this year, but I have heard they have a veteran group and besides, they beat us last year in the season finale.  It wouldn't surprise me.

Anyways, hope I didn't offend anyone as that is not my purpose. GO TIGERS!

Interesting - the City of Shenandoah, awarded the Stagg Bowl for 2018 and 2019, hasn't actually approved spending the money required to host:

Council opted to table the approval of the contracts to host the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Division III football championships.
The city's estimated expenditure to host the 2018 championship is $254,000, including a cost of $24,500 to reserve the stadium, according to a quote from a prior year. The event would take place in December 2018 and would be funded out of the city's fiscal year 2018-19 budget.

"It would be a huge undertaking for the city," said Steffani Konzem, Shenandoah's Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Marketing Specialist.

Council chose to table the approval and will continue to discuss the contract at future meetings.

The council likewise decided to table the approval of the contract for the 2019 championship as well.

uh oh...

that also seems like a lot of money to "reserve" a public stadium...

The stadium probably will need to be reserved for 3 days.  Decals will need to be painted. Schools will practice. TV crews will need to set up. One day post-game for cleanup.

I will appreciate more knowledgeable posters who have rented a stadium, e.g., UIL post season playoff games.

wasn't doubting the cost! just didn't know what kind of partnerships were available for one public entity to another.

I didn't think about how much my own high school stadium from Denton, Texas costs to rent out...

And is that three days' worth of control over the stadium? (Maybe four.) Is it banquet facilities and all the other things needed in conjunction with a national title game?

Good questions to be sure, though it's unlikely the Shenandoah stadium figure ($25K of $250K total) included all of that, either.   I was providing a data point in response to Ralph's question on HS stadium rental costs in Texas.
