My speed comment was not related to what I think the outcome of the game will be. I was just relaying what is the one word that characterizes UMHB football and it is speed. More times than not, The CRU's speed translates into wins. However, on a rare few occasions, it has not. Saturday we will see.

Of course, UMHB can be quite physical as well, but it seems in the match-up with St. Thomas, the Tommies would appear to have the edge on the physicality side of things. The boys from Minnesota are BIG.

There is no doubt the play of UMHB's freshman QB, CR3, will be key.

I would say UST is fast by West region standards, but it seems things get ratcheted up exponentially when the Tommies play a team like MUC, which is probably similar athletically to UMHB.

UST has had a mixed bag of dealing with athletic quarterbacks in the recent past. Taurice Scott from MUC in 2015 averaged about 4.2 yards per carry, threw for 3 TDs and had a rushing TD, so, basically carved up UST. They did an adequate job against Ayrton Scott from Augsburg, but he had only had one weapon at WR and was sort of left to fend for himself.

UST knows what to expect, whether they have the athletes to handle it remains to be seen.

The thing that concerns me the most about UST is they seem to lack a killer instinct against quality opponents.

This sums up UST's season in a nutshell.

Well, that's part of it anyway. Their killer instinct is just fine when they lead 91-0 with 7 seconds left in the game. Looking forward to the CRU giving Caruso exactly what he deserves this weekend.

I completely agree with this!   I'd love to see MHB drill them into the ground in the most embarrassing fashion possible.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Wait.    They ran a play up 91-0 with 7 seconds left? There's got to be a backstory here right? Is there bad blood?

No bad blood that I am aware of. St Olaf HC is UST's former OC, but all indications are they have a good relationship. Not a justification, but this quote sheds a little light on the thinking. I'll leave it at that as everyone's feelings about Caruso and this game have been sufficiently hashed and rehashed.

Quote"I have to attribute (that performance) to the offensive line," Wagner said of his career day. "If they don't block well like that, I don't go anywhere."

Adding to the O-line's impressive performance, offensive guard Jaxon Lind scored the final touchdown of the game. He lined up at the fullback position and ran a dive to the left side for a 5-yard score. Caruso, a former lineman, was thrilled when Lind crossed the pylons.

"I'm not going to lie; I didn't think it would actually happen," Caruso said of the senior lineman's first career score. "When he carried that ball across the goal line, he did it for every lineman that's come through here."

Lind's teammates agreed.

"That was the best moment of the season, honestly," Wagner said.

St. Olaf's HC, James Killian (former Tulsa/NFL QB, LSU quality control coordinator) is Glenn's former OC, who jumped ship at the end of last year. Also, Joe Lepsche, is St. Olaf's OC, who was Caruso's prodigal son once before when he tried out HS coaching for a year and came back as the offensive line coach. UST had an OC opening after Killian left (and Lepsche, who was now coaching HS for a second stint, this time as a HC), that I think Lepsche may have wanted, but didn't get, so he went to St. Olaf to be Killian's OC. There's a few other former Tommie coaches there as well.

That MIGHT have something to do with it. Especially when Caruso said something along the lines of, "My job is to prepare my team, I can't be worried about whether the other team did or did not prepare their team."

All conjecture of course, but reeks of ugly divorce.

Completely agree. This looks way worse than starting a QB with an outstanding felony battery warrant or a WR with a drug conviction that than goes on serial sexual assault rampage against a number of freshman on campus. Way worse....

Or not dealing with at all, depending on how you look at it.  ;)

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this but are you saying the player continues to play?

UMHB fans

Good luck Saturday. I would love to see you bury St. Thomas . These guys are a legend in their own mind. Show them the Cru is number 1, deservedly so, for a reason. I hope Mount Union gets the chance to play you guys - I think. Oh, anyway, go get 'em!

Thanks. If you looked at the OAC board yesterday, you would see that's the nicest thing that's been said about my alma mater in a while.
