Why not, UMHB went from 5-5 to 9-1.  This coaches reputation will get the players.  I promise.   It only takes two or three top level D3 skill postion players to make it happen and it will.  Throw in about  a bunch of good players who listen and there you go.  You have UMHB and HSU type of team.  He is the real deal.    The only problem is he will not be there long, he is so good he will move up quickly.

Yep, it will be a long off season!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our D-III friends....God Bless You All!

I don't think that 8-2 is too implausible for LC.  They lost badly to HSU and to HPU (after they got used to the new HPU coach).  However, they lost the lead in the Rhodes game;  lost in OT to McMurry and failed on two 2pt conversions in their dramatic 4th Quarter 4-TD comeback vs. TLU (41-44).  That looks like they are a couple of players short of breaking out of the "mid-pack" in the ASC.  They are still a ways from the throne room, but who is competing against Coach Dunn in the NAIA, D2 or D3 in the state of Louisiana?  He can sell D3 to Louisiana players who want to compete and stay close to home!  The ASC just got better and tougher!

Merry Christmas to all the players, coaches and fans of the ASC.

Same to you, Bill....Merry Christmas to all the fans of D-III....

Any updates on non-conference games for 2006?  I know UMHB is playing Christopher-Newport.  Are they going to play Willamette again?  Any of the teams playing Austin College?

Two teams play Austin so far.

Gray Fox,  In looking at the AC schedule, I think they will do better than they did in the ASC.  I hope their transition goes well.

Ralph Turner

AC's open dates hold possiblities for the Roos to play first year LaGrange or Colorado College as a tenth game.

Gray Fox

If the rumors are true that CC will become a member of the SCAC in 2007, than that would be the logical game to schedule as part of the transition for Colorado.

CC in the SCAC ... with its D-I hockey team.  Nearest travel partner, AC, would be 700+ road miles away.

Nobody else seems to have posted this, so:  Jesse Burleson, who was a three-time all-Conference selection and academic all-American at Hardin-Simmons, has been named the offensive line coach for the Cowboys, replacing Andy Stanton who resigned earlier this month.

Gray Fox

It was somebody on the SCAC board on December 13.

The SCAC press release announcing the addition of AC mentioned that the conference was expanding to 12 and two 6-team divisions.

The common features by the majority of the SCAC members include:

Relatively strong endowments
Tight Academic standards
Phi Beta Kappa chapters.

The punditry has also mentioned these names as possible candidates who might receive an invitation to join the SCAC:

Hanover--would they leave the HCAC for all of that travel?  RHIT came back home to Indiana.
UDallas--Phi Beta Kappa chapter, couldn't start a club football team in 2003.  Is their endowment large enough?
Fisk--They are a former member;  have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter; good Nashville airport; close to Sewanee; might be left out of GSAC re-alignment as rumored; don't have a football.  Granted, I am reaching.
Washington and Lee?  I have heard that name rumored.

Here's an interesting resource.

Where would the SCAC find other candidates to get to 12?  Anyone in the USAC? The ASC? The ODAC? Wow, that is convenient for travel in the SCAC.

It seems one of the criteria for the SCAC is proximity to a big airport. ;)  :)

RT -

Washington and Lee does seem like a logical fit academically, wheras Fisk does not.

I'm watching the Rose Parade.

The Allen, Texas marching band just went by.  Huge and impressive! :)
