Per Charley Walters' sports rumor column in the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

"Speaking of MIAC football, the only school interested in playing St. John's in a nonconference game in 2020 is national Division III power Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) in a home-and-home series, but travel expenses would be $50,000."

My impression...
With the Tommies gone from the WAIC, a win by SJU over UMHB to go 10-0 gives the Johnnies home field advantage at least to the first 2 and maybe all 4 rounds.

Cru fans & followers here's a question. Does UMHB have a designated tailgating lot and is there a charge for the fans to tailgate before the games?
Reason- SJU has by far the biggest & most organized tailgate scene in the MIAC. It's been free to this point but rumor has it there will be a fee this coming season.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Don't think there's a charge.

Thanks. SJU permits alcohol in this designated tailgate space, so that may be part of it.....

Past experience suggests to me that even in the non-designated parking spaces at SJU, where technically alcohol and tailgating are not allowed - it's still allowed.
But maybe that only applies to the Tommie-Johnnie game.

NCAA made an announcement about upcoming championship host sites, looks like Canton is going to be the preferred spot for the forseeable future as it now has the Stagg Bowl from 2020-2022 (and that's as far as the announcement went):

I am perplexed by that announcement, why did the NCAA announce this additional year at this point? I would think they would wait and announce multiple years as they did a couple of years ago when it was going to be Shenandoah for 2 and Canton for 2.

Ron Boerger

Looks like they are changing the way they announce hosts to on a year-by-year basis - if you notice, they announced hosts for *all* sports through the 2022-23 school year.

Who knows what kind of agreement(s) they have behind the scenes for future years.

We are going to play the best of five  :o :o :o and you have to give the home field for the fifth game to the team with a championship on average of every other year for nearly three decades. ;D ;D ;D

joelmama

In reality it is pretty interesting to note how these two sites just happen to be in the backyards of the best two teams in the country nearly a decade now counting 2019

True, although I do feel the need to say if Shenandoah is in our backyard, then Canton is more like the front porch for Alliance since its only 26 minutes from UMU to that stadium. Should be an amazing experience though for the players and any fans that get to go up a day or two early.

Anytime it is pretty easy to go to the game and drive home that night for a bowl game that should be considered a home game (at least according to the rule book I just made up)  ;D

Also true, I am very anxious to see what kind of crowd Mount Union will provide to those games.

Pat says the 2022 Stagg has NOT, after all, been awarded to Canton (tho it still may happen):

QuoteThe NCAA had posted a calendar with the 2022 Stagg Bowl having been suddenly awarded to Canton, Ohio. However, that was incorrect. They may still get it! But that hasn't actually been decided yet. #d3fb
