Just a general ASC question, who sets the game times?  Seems like there are a lot of 1:00 PM start times in September.  Still rather hot in most area at that time.  I realize travel could dictate game starts but looking at some I don't see travel being an issue

HPU vs. McMurry     1:00 pm
HSU vs. HPU   1:00 pm
SRU vs. McMurry 2:00 pm
UMHB vs. McMurry 1:00 pm
SRU vs. SW 1:00 pm

I was always under the impression that the home school basically gets to pick the time of the game.

The last few years it seems like UMHB typically has played night games until October when it "cools off", which means it 90 at kickoff haha.

Your list has a common name which is McMurry so they may there reasons and I am not sure why HPU would want to bake the heat while playing HSU. Sul Ross is 6 hours from SW so that is an example of the crazy travel the ASC deals with.

Another question for the HSU faithful, it would appear that former UMHB QB, Kyle Jones, has climbed the depth chart and was listed as back up to Wooten last weekend. Didn't look like he did much in the Sul Ross game so my question is he lighting it up in practice or was this more of a way to get him some live snaps if you a sizable lead?

I also wondered what was going on there. From what I can tell, Wooten is cemented as the starter, but everything beneath him is fluid. As far as who is the backup going forward: your guess is as good as mine.

I'm not sure about HPU and SW on that list, but I know McMurry does not have the necessary field lighting to play night games.

It was stated on the radio Saturday and in the paper today that Aaron Sims, PR and WR transfer from A&M last year and suspended for first five games, is out for the season due to tearing his Achilles in practice.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

McMurry can play night games. their field lighting is fine.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I think the majority of coaches in our league prefer day games. Having to check out of a hotel late with a large team is rough, plus the majority of coaches have to break down film and have it ready for Sunday meetings and film sessions. Having late games makes for some long nights for those guys and GA's. Day games make it a little easier on them even if it makes us fans suffer through the heat lol

C. Noli?

I don't know, he isn't in this week's game notes and it doesn't appear he is even on the roster anymore...

Looks like we will be getting Jonel back! Redding still listed over Poorman in the depth chart too.

He was hurt last week and isn't on the 2 deep this week. Haven't seen if he's still hurt
Was just looking at the 2 deep and Redding isn't listed over him. it says OR beside lukes name.

"cheetah" is recovering from a fall camp injury but coach says he should be up and healthy soon. Coach says the team has been working with him and bringing him along with the Cru style. He also said he looks forward to seeing him ready to play.

Any UMHB fans know why Jefferson Fritz isn't playing?

Must've been some type of disciplinary decision cuz he went in right when the 2nd quarter started.

UMHB03

What in the world is going on with UMHB?

Maybe we're just spoiled, and I know they lost some key players from last year's team, but this is the slowest, sloppiest, most lethargic Crusader team I've seen in a long time. No explosive play makers on offense, and the defense isn't as dominant as it's been in recent years.

Are they really experiencing that big of a drop off in athleticism since last year, or have they become too content/complacent after winning the National Championship?

It's a long season, and a lot of improvement can be made, but performances like this won't win the ASC, much less the Stagg Bowl.
