Yea he looks promising as a quicker back. Saw that Fred Fleeks is considering the Cru and he looks like a pretty good all around athlete. I did see that all the Temple players were going to Permian Basin but I believe we still let some really good talent in the Central Texas area get away and we concentrate on the Houston, San Antonio, and those areas a little more. We can't argue with the results we have been having but living in the Temple-Belton area it is always nice to be cheering on some local athletes after watching their high school carreers.
UTPB advertises being able to graduate for 10k in west texas.  Getting a degree and not having 40-60k in debt might be incintive. Also don't forget there is a stable of RB's that didn't play because of injury last year as well. Assuming he's still at UMHB I am interested in seeing Montana Miller tote the rock. On film in high school he looked like a good running back, and when you have 2 bros that were stud running backs before, you might have learned a thing or 2 at home.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Toby, as of last week Montana says he is looking forward to the 2020 season, so as far as I can tell from his posts he appears to be mended and available. Things can happen but like you I wold like to see the Miller legacy continue.

Friends, I am reading (audiobook   ;)The Perfect Pass, American Genius and the Re-invention of American Football by S. C. Gwynne.

I am currently in the Hal Mumme/ Mike Leach era at Iowa Wesleyan College in the old Illini-Badger-Hawkeye Conference.

The book is lots of fun.

Gwynne, who attended JHU, has also written Empire of the Summer Moon about Comanche Chief Quanah Parker and Hymns of the Republic about the last year of the Civil War.

Ralph, I met Spud Aldridge today.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Wow.  HSU is cutting 22 programs, 31 positions as well as their seminary.

The blood letting at HSU is really causing a stir. Killed the seminary, putting the undergrad program under liberal arts. Moving education under the school of Business... big shake up causing people to ask questions about endowments and such.

So often, endowments are restricted and do not help with general expenses.

The Seminary is what surprised me.

It's curious that in the middle of Big Oil country, HSU is facing a $4M shortfall this year (and apparently years beyond) despite an endowment that grew from $150M to over $190M between 2018 and 2019 (source: the recently released NACUBO study).   That's twice McM's, 3x HPU's.    This year's freshman class was the second-largest in school history, 20 fewer than the previous year's, so to face that kind of a shortfall means that the Cowboys have had to offer a huge discount rate on tuition or that some else is going on.  The ironic thing is that the story talking about enrollment said "...it's a happy Forty Acres," which I'm sure was not the case after last week's announcement.

Ralph's point about endowments being restricted is a valid one; you wonder how much of that $190M was dedicated to the seminary and what will happen to it.

Ralph Turner

$4M is certainly hard to make up in a shortfall.

If HSU needed $15,000 of hard cash per student per year, then they would need 266 more students to make up the $4M difference.
They would need 200 more students at $20,000 per student per year.

Yea I am really not sure what the Cru are looking for in a running back when Temple had a kid that could really scoot and they didn't seem to go after him. Their track record is a bigger back that gets the tough yards but struggles taking it to the house from any distance. Would be nice to have a back that is a threat on every play to score but what do I know. With that crazy zone blocking we do it would be beneficial to have a back that could hit the holes fast and cut on a dime.

All the kids from Temple I saw signing signed with UT Permian Basin (D2) or Tarleton (d1). Check out Zacarrius Haynes from above, rushed 2018 yards on 216 carries and 29 tds last year for Anderson-Shiro.

He looks pretty legit. Good find.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

That #54 Offensive Tackle looks pretty solid too. I wonder where he is playing.

If you're talking about from Anderson Shiro (JaColby Matthews), I don't think he has signed a letter of intent yet.

I don't know if this has been posted but Caleb Eagans has committed to UMHB for his last year of eligibility. Texas A&M grad, Wide Receiver and the scoop is he has some NFL prospects post 2020, but who knows right. I'm just happy to see a possible speedy WR much like KJ Miller.
